I know most people think about loved ones who passed away when they hear this song, but for me, it holds a different meaning. For me, it’s me looking back and hanging onto a relationship that’s been long gone. I made mistakes. I took things for granted. I miss that feeling it used to give me. That everglow of being loved is magical. That feeling that makes you feel like you’re on top of the world. Even til now, all I ever think about is…how do we get back? How can I rewind the clock to when we we’re happy? But I can’t turn back time. I know it’s over. She’s moved on to someone else. But I still hold on to that special feeling. It’s not healthy, I know. But no matter how hard I try. I can’t move on.

I lost my grandma to covid. Grief is the worst feeling ever and yet i couldn't cry. When I found this song again, that's when it hit me. For the first time after losing her, I cried. This song made me realized how important it is to let the people you love know that you love them.

Coldplay's songs have helped me through the grief of losing my only son... this song SO emblemizes how very special he was. Actually he loved Coldplay, and he introduced me to them as he used play Viva la Vida on piano and had everyone enrapt. Thanks Coldplay for songs like this, and "Fix you" that helped me digest a loss that was simply overwhelming. Loving you always my precious son. Love you Coldplay!

This whole year has been a ride. I was lonely, stressed and over worked so I started cutting…. I developed self esteem issues and body dysmorphia and ended uo with an ed… I stayed awake till three am to stop my friends from committing. I missed everybody. I started questioning everything… my sexuality, my friends, my existence. I fell into a deep depression and hid away. I realized I had a big crush on one of my friends, my female friend. It’s now the end of the year and I’m going to high school now. I’m afraid everybody I love will leave me. I stayed awake till 4 am listening to this song, crying. I gave this song to my mom seven years ago. It was strange, giving it to her while she was still here, but I'm glad I did. Because now, it's one of the things that remain.
I really, really didn't expect at all to cry as much as I'm crying right now. I'm litterally sobbing.
I felt tears coming when i was just watching him play, because for the first time in so long, Chris made me feel again what it was like to fall in love in the wide sense, fall in love with the entire human race, with the human nature. Just because he was here, playing, dodling his head. I don't know how to explain why it made me so emotional to watch him. I mean, i've seen him play in videos dozens of times, and I never cried like this. Maybe the feeling that (even if he's way older than me) he grew up so much since Coldplay was born, in every sense of the term, yet here it was like i was seeing him at his beginning, with this look of sheer absorbtion on his face, the way he's lost into the music. Love is radiating out of this man. Love and some sort of purity i can't put words on.
Then, the lyrics, of course. So deep, and powerful. Carrying a beautiful and important message. It makes me feel like every single soul to walk the Earth is important and needed (please, who ever you are who's reading this, you're important. We need you here. And i love you).
On a more personnal note, when he said "so if you love someone/you should let them know" made me burst into tears even more because the man i love is far, far away, I'll probably never see him again and I never told him about how I feel. Never. I couldn't.
And, finally, the images of the great Mohammed Ali, may his soul rest in peace in God's heaven. I'm muslim, like he was. So when he said that he wants to see what Heaven is like, it made me laugh and cry even more at the same time. Because i know he's there. There in heaven. And it makes me so peaceful.
Long story short, there was a whole lot of tears ^^ Chris, thank you. Thank you so much for everything you're doing, for the beautiful light you're spreading on this planet. I love you. I couldn't love you more than i do tonight. Thank you.

To all those people who say they only like the "old Coldplay": You can't tell me that if they released this song in the early 2000s that you wouldn't have loved it. Its beautifully sad.
This is, in my opinion, the best thing they ever produced. People idolize the past because it is a part of what formed them. It feels classic. Someday this may feel classic too. But many Coldplay songs have meaningless or uninteresting lyrics. These lyrics are the opposite. They are arresting and the backing music is incredible as well. I have never lost someone close to me (at least not in a sudden way I wasn't prepared for) but I find this song almost overwhelming.

My kitten Doreo used to love this so much. Every time I’d play it on my laptop, he would sit on it and try to play the piano through it or just stare at it in awe, in silence.
He passed away on the 8th of August, 2024 from flu. He was 3 months old.

This is a song that I listened to and loved for a long time but I didn’t realize the true meaning until after my dad passed away. This song describes how I feel in my grief and I feel less alone knowing that this is a feeling someone else has felt too. The fact that the world is moving on without him in it hurts but what he gave me as a father will always be within me.

He agreed to meet and we got some coffee and listened to this track and then some others. We didn't talk until after a couple of songs later. He calmed down and told me "Man.. I wanna live more after all.. When's their new album coming out?" There's something about Coldplay's songs that give you such a trip to the ups and downs of life and then put you back on a positive track.
