For me, this is the best song of Ed, it hits so freaking hard. When we're young, we meet people, then they become our friends, and then we think that it's going to last forever. But with the time, most of them go away, and it's not our or their fault, it just happens. Although, in the end, the memories never go away; it can be a simple habit, or a moment. liking it or not, they stay with us.

SUBSCRIBE ME I'LL SUBSCRIBE YOU BACK I may be “to young” but I still know the pain of having to leave the only home you’ve ever had. I had to go live on the other side of the world, leaving all my friends, never seeing them again, and not having contact with them ever again. I think about they every day, because all the people here suck. But, I’ve managed to get over it. And be happy where I am. But I get it, I’m still a child. And I’m fine with that.
This song hits totally hard for those people who miss childhood and when meeting with old classmates/friends would talk about the memories had together and like laughing about it and wishing we didn't grow this fast
This song says home to me. The beauty of the English countryside and the weight of history. Wherever you are in the world, I hope that you all get to return to the place that you call home.
This song is for my son. It tells of his growing up with his friends at the same time as Ed, 30 miles away from where Ed did. We lost him through drugs and severe mental illness. But he lived that beautiful experience, growing up in rural East anglia, doing the same crazy stuff. Ed tells a story of many young people but the endings are different.
I'm sorry for your son, unfortunately we are losing our young people to drugs! It would be good for all parents to have one faith, one path to follow and not forsake their children even for a second, just like the animals that take care of their young until adulthood! do not lose hope, one day you will see your son, trust in GOD. look for it can comfort your heart
This song is so touching, because it actually tells about us when we were young. Careless, sloppy, rebellious, and do not know who we are. We don't know we're making a memory, we're just having fun at the time. Sometimes we regret it, but sometimes we want to repeat it. And when we look back at the hill that witnessed our mischief, everything has changed. And we can't go back there, we can only enjoy the remnants of memories.
when we"re kids we wanted to grow up , now we cant stop thinking about the past , life . miss all that gave me great memories and stuck with me with all the bad once , where ever you are good luck in life
I'm 26 and most of my closest friends are dead. This song hits me hard and I come back to remember the time I had with them. They'd want me to keep moving and that's what I plan on doing.

I decided I would listen to a few songs before turning 17 as I will never be 16 again. This is officially the last song I'll listen to at 16 and plan to come back at 17 before I turn 18. :') 💗 -Rose (Jan 28th, 2022) Edit 2023: Hello there, guys. 17 year old me turning 18 in 15 minutes here. I didn't expect this comment to get as many likes and replies as it did. Thank you all for the kind birthday messages and advice you gave to 17 year old me. I followed a ton of your advice and 17 wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. It was stressful, but it wasn't as much as a huge jump as I thought it was going to be. Time flies, but I'm enjoying my youth while I'm still young. I'm nervous to graduate this year (2023) in a few months, but I think it will all work out. I know I'm just a stranger on the internet, but I Love all of you guys and I'll try to keep the same advice I got for 17 while I'm 18. I guess that's it for now. I'll come back here and listen to this song when I am 18 a few minutes from turning 19. Thank you again. - Rose 💗 Edit: 2024 Wow. 19? Already? It feels like I was just here. 5 minutes and I'll officially be 19. First let me state the obvious: AS SOON AS I GET MY DRIVERS LICENSE YOU KNOW DAMN WELL I'M GONNA BLAST TINY DANCER AT 19 WHILE I DRIVE BY THE OLD COUNTRY LAKE BY MY HOUSE. YES, I WILL SCREAM THE LYRICS. ALSO, YES, I WILL PROBABLY CRY. Anyways, I graduated high school last summer and I'm proud of myself. :) It was difficult for me, but I got my diploma. It feels strange knowing this is my last year being a teenager, but I know I still have so many memories to make. Thank you all again so much for the advice and replies. :) Knowing that there are people willing to have so much compassion for the random internet kid that posted about her 17th birthday a couple years ago brings tears to my eyes. Thank you again. I wish all of you a Happy Birthday, no matter what day you celebrate. Remember to smell the flowers, hug your family, and smile at a stranger. God bless and You are Loved. :') -Rose 💗
Happy birthday, i remember last year when i was about to turn 20 I thought what should I do to celebrate, then I decided I should just watch a movie while moving to the next decade of my life. So I watched Nobody(2021) while turning 20. Alright movie.

When I was running from my brother and his friends
And tasted the sweet perfume of the mountain grass I rolled down
Well, I was younger then, take me back to when
I found my heart and broke it here
Made friends and lost them through the years
And I've not seen the roaring fields in so long, I know I've grown
But I can't wait to go home
I'm on my way
Driving at 90 down those country lanes
Singing to "Tiny Dancer"
And I miss the way you make me feel, and it's real
And we watched the sunset over the castle on the hill
15 years old and smoking hand-rolled cigarettes
Running from the law through the backfields
And getting drunk with my friends
Had my first kiss on a Friday night
I don't reckon that I did it right
But I was younger then, take me back to when
We found weekend jobs, when we got paid
We'd buy cheap spirits and drink them straight
Me and my friends have not thrown up in so long, oh, how we've grown
But I can't wait to go home
I'm on my way (hoo-hoo)
Driving at 90 down those country lanes (hoo-hoo)
Singing to "Tiny Dancer"
And I miss the way you make me feel, and it's real
And we watched the sunset (hoo-hoo), over the castle on the hill
Hoo-hoo, over the castle on the hill
Hoo-hoo, over the castle on the hill
One friend left to sell clothes, one works down by the coast
One had two kids but lives alone, one's brother overdosed
One's already on his second wife, one's just barely getting by
But these people raised me and I can't wait to go home
And I'm on my way
I still remember these old country lanes
When we did not know the answers
And I miss the way (hoo-hoo) you make me feel, it's real
When we watched the sunset (hoo-hoo) over the castle on the hill
Hoo-hoo, over the castle on the hill

SUBSCRIBE ME I'LL SUBSCRIBE YOU BACK I may be “to young” but I still know the pain of having to leave the only home you’ve ever had. I had to go live on the other side of the world, leaving all my friends, never seeing them again, and not having contact with them ever again. I think about they every day, because all the people here suck. But, I’ve managed to get over it. And be happy where I am. But I get it, I’m still a child. And I’m fine with that.
true
This song hits totally hard for those people who miss childhood and when meeting with old classmates/friends would talk about the memories had together and like laughing about it and wishing we didn't grow this fast
It's more like he's completely parted ways with his friends, and he's just thinking about the times he had with them. But similar
indeed is hard to hear this one, those days were simple gold
Hits really hard for people that live in a pandemic and can’t see their one of their only froends
i miss my childhood especially when my great aunts were still alive and when my grandma’s childhood home was still standing 😭😭😭
I’m not even completely out of childhood and I already miss it. I guess I kind of had to grow up fast.

This song made me realize many things I've missed out in my teenage years
This song is for my son.
Hope you're feeling well bro. ;)
😭😭
Your son is at peace my friend and he lived a good early life. I hope you can find peace in that ❤️
I'm sorry for your son, unfortunately we are losing our young people to drugs!
It would be good for all parents to have one faith, one path to follow and not forsake their children even for a second, just like the animals that take care of their young until adulthood!
do not lose hope, one day you will see your son, trust in GOD. look for it can comfort your heart
impresionante historia...lo siento mucho por la pérdida de tu hijo😢Dios te dé fortaleza....saludos desde colombia💛💙❤️
😔🥰

Edit 2023: Hello there, guys.
- Rose 💗

Anyways,
I graduated high school last summer and I'm proud of myself. :)
It was difficult for me, but I got my diploma.
:') -Rose 💗

Sad truth🤧
The truth hurts in every way.
yes it doesn't for the better or worse
That’s a deep quote
To those who want to sing along here's the lyrics.
When I was six years old, I broke my leg
I was running from my brother and his friends
And tasted the sweet perfume of the mountain grass I rolled down
I was younger then, take me back to when I
Found my heart and broke it here
Made friends and lost them through the years
And I've not seen the roaring fields in so long
I know I've grown, but I can't wait to go home
I'm on my way
Driving at 90 down those country lanes
Singing to Tiny Dancer
And I miss the way you make me feel, and it's real
When we watched the sunset over the castle on the hill
Fifteen years old and smoking hand-rolled cigarettes
Running from the law through the backfields and
Getting drunk with my friends
Had my first kiss on a Friday night
I don't reckon that I did it right, but
I was younger then, take me back to when
We found weekend jobs, when we got paid
We'd buy cheap spirits and drink them straight
Me and my friends have not thrown up in so long
Oh, how we've grown, but I can't wait to go home
I'm on my way
Driving at 90 down those country lanes
Singing to Tiny Dancer
And I miss the way you make me feel, and it's real
When we watched the sunset over the castle on the hill
Over the castle on the hill
Over the castle on the hill
One friend left to sell clothes
One works down by the coast
One had two kids, but lives alone
One's brother overdosed
One's already on his second wife
One's just barely getting by, but
These people raised me
And I can't wait to go home
And I'm on my way
I still remember these old country lanes
When we did not know the answers
And I miss the way you make me feel, and it's real
When we watched the sunset over the castle on the hill
Over the castle on the hill
Over the castle on the hill
Legendary!!
