he is the voice of the sock, this is a 1 man netflix special where he did all the instruments, writing, lighting, sets etc.. all from his guest house so it's just layered and voice afterwards.
So incredible, and a really impactful project to watch for the first time
Yeah you'll notice in his live shows in certain songs how good his timing is, for example "we think we know you" and if I remember correctly the beginning of Make Happy
Bro I can barely get the bathroom clean and this dude is making one man masterpieces of film while his mental health is barely hanging on. 😆
2:52 I love the subtle statement being made about what the relationship is like between the two metaphoric characters-
Socko just said a frightening and deeply disturbing thing about his own experience of the world.
Bo not only doesn’t acknowledge that terrifying lived experience, he sing songs and bee bops right past it
Nice catch! I never noticed that fun little bit of foreshadowing before. That definitely tracks
I wouldn't say anything you haven't already said, says the scared puppet not wanting to die or go back to being ignored.
Bo is everything in this clip, creator, writer, videographer, voice over, editor... everything! He was alone in a room creating the Netflix special.
Bo doesn't have to do ventriloquism. Socko is real.
3:33 her and Bo making the exact same face killed me.
Bo is indeed the voice of the Socko. This is from his most recent special ‘INSIDE’. Dude did the whole thing himself in his guest room over quarantine and snagged 3 Emmy’s and a Grammy for his effort. I hope you get to more the songs from it!
It’s funny you mentioned Sesame Street…Bo actually composed most of the music for the new Sesame Street movie lol.
Loving the Bo reactions, keep ‘em comin!
Cheers
"...I would turn this on for my children.."
Me, waiting on the other shoe to drop...😏
😂😂
Exactly my thought 😅
about the sesame street comment you made, bo is actually the one writing the music for the sesame street movie that was announced back in 2018
Great reaction, Bo is the man. One underrated suggestion that I love (even tho supposedly he said he cringes at making that one) is the video of "Oh Bo". I think it's so catchy and hilarious beyond belief. Keep up the content you're killing it.
Love Oh Bo!
Funny enough he's writing all the music for the new "Sesame Street" movie coming out. He's also going to be starring in it
"This should be on Sesame Street!"
Yeah how do I say this?..
Gotta lot more Bo, can’t wait for you to get all the good ones! Great reaction as always. Thank you!
The way I see it, everything said reinforces the character dynamic he decided on to get the point across. Bo himself represents the historical "winner" or the oppressor, the one who gets to decide how history is written & taught, and Sockos literal existence being in his hands. So Socko is the voice of realness because he has lived and still lives a life of oppression, and Bo glosses right over the real disturbing facts of Sockos life.
"I would turn this on for my toddler!" ... oh boy
about to have a very based toddler on they hands
Bo is definitely the voice of Socko. Except for something like an assisting editor, Bo did absolutely everything for this comedy special while quarantined at home during the beginning of the pandemic. It’s quite good and quite impressive.
You’re right at the end, it’s Bo’s voice pre-recorded. He produced, directed, and wrote that whole “Inside” special by himself while in quarantine, like 2020-21. That’s also his hair and beard get crazy long over the course of the special and why the place is such a mess 😂
You just got another sub - you're so bright and likable. Great video keep it up!
Best reaction I found, and I saw really a lot now, because I love this song so much.
The RUclips algorithm just shoved your channel into my face and I couldn't be happier. You're a delightful human being and I love your takes on stuff. Subscribed!
Absolutely lovve your reactions
This is from Inside, which he did independently, so he is the voice of Socko. He just recorded separately so it would work out. He's great at coming up with things that start out innocent and are much deeper.
I love that Bo 's mastery of commonly available technology to add prerecorded voiceovers from himself or others to his solo shows mystifies her in a couple of these I've seen. Probably sounds like I'm mocking, suppose I am a little (kay, maybe a bit more than a little... ), but also is kind of innocent and lovely as well.
So, yes, I believe he is the voices of the sock, but it's not ventriloquism. That's pre-recorded track and Bo is just moving his hand wity the sock at the sound of the track itself.
I'm going to attempt to speak for (all/most) of us here: We want to hear *YOU* sing an entire song!
Its probably pre-recorded for Socko, but he once named a dutch comedian with his sock puppet as one of his role models when it comes to comedy. Cant help but think thats one of the reasons why he used a sock puppet in one of the skits.
Hans teeuwen
"Go have the day you deserve"
Sounds like a threat!!!
🤣🤣🤣 love it 💖✨️
Gotta watch the whole special at one time. It’s wild shit. You won’t regret it.
ive been watching Bo Burnham reaction videos since Inside came out. You, hands down, have the most on-point breakdowns of each one. For that, I thank you!! lol 👏🏽
He is the voice of the sock but it’s not ventriloquism, it’s just editing lol
ohh that make sense lol
Socco is a hans terwin bit. He's bo burnhams favorite stand up comedian.
He is the voice for socko but it's put in in edit, there is behind the scenes fottage where he just sits in total silence and use socko to lip sync the song, which is pretty impresive cause it's pretty much spot on
He is the voice of the sock, just not recorded at the same time. Again, everything in that special is made by him. Him alone
I love how she's like "did you catch that?" And then proceeds to completely miss the pro workers rights points that Bo makes and instead goes "yeah sometimes parents are mean to their children" lol Bo is trying to tell you that socialism is important. "Private property is inherently theft".
This is all part of his special called Inside. You should watch the whole thing because it gives more than just the songs separately.
Bo said on the green room with paul provenza 2.01 that Hans tailor was an inspiration to him starting out. Hans uses sock puppets.
britt: i feel like this should be on sesame street
me: oh darling, just wait for it
This sock is out here paraphrasing anarchist theory from Proudhon and it gets me every time. Great reaction!
He is the voice of socko but recorded it separately
bo is the voice of the sock. this is from inside, a netflix special he wrote, produced and recorded all by himself alone in his apartment during the pandemic
1:43 He was hired to soundtrack a new Sesame Street after this came out...
He actually WAS a writer for Sesame Street. Oddly enough
Bo burnham is actually a legit writer for sesame street
I feel some of sockos experience is the way Bo felt about his celebrity life, do what you're told or go back to nothing.
You got yourself a follower.
Here's your amazing thing to think about the fact that he wasn't Doing the voice of the talk live but instead put it in and post That of course means that the entire recording he was just moving to socks mouth without sound and had to match it up later. Or had pre-recorded and was responding as it was coming through his headphones
Bo did everything himself, the sock was pre recorded and he just has amazing timing
I hope you know you have to react to every song in the special, it's sooo amazing and genius and his singing is so much better than his previous specials
This was a fantastic reaction.
You need to watch the INSIDE special that this comes from in full. It's amazing.
Also he absolutely did all of the music, light and sound production, instruments and mixing all by himself. The whole point of the show was that he was stuck inside during quarantine.
Just remember, Bo will hit you with the Positive, then be Prepared for the Reality that's coming! ✌️🤟
Every kid should get to hear this song
😂😂😂 yes, he does Socko voice. No, it's not ventriloquist
On your channel or off, you need to react to this whole special! As a 34 year old jaded Millenial, it hits so hard.
Im impressed how on your face Bo put all social and politic criticsm and people still dont catch it
Making education palatable & catchy.
Funny you say that about Sesame Street
Bo is working on the new movie coming out next year lol
Bo Burnham - Oh Bo (video)
1:39 funny you say that…
Haha, he is the voice of the sock but it's edited in separately.
Only crush them once you've made them give up and show everyone you've won. When they're fully irrelevant and nobody will even notice them being gone. That's the final lesson from Socko.
I feel like too many people miss the greater arch of this... As soon as the sock spit too many facts, the power that be silenced him. Socko is the masses, bo played the man
That sock was used to getting walked on.
Bo is the voice of the sock. It's called multi tracking.
Your next ones for Bo Burnham should be "I'm Bo Yo", "New Math", and "White Woman's Instagram".
Please do “From God’s Perspective”, “Repeat Stuff” music video, “Oh Bo”
#deep 😂
Watch the "Inside - Outtakes" and feel free to react to your reaction videos... much love from outside the states
He is the sock, with pre-recorded audio.
i think you missed that analogy.. the sock called him a white supremacist-who's on who's hand-trying to pull him of (symbolizes jail)- so if you dont obey your going to jail(yes sir,i'll behave..)
Bo Burnham is composing the music for the upcoming Sesame Street movie.
That is so cool!
It's funny you say this sounds like Sesame Street, he is staring in the new Sesame Street Movie. Think it was filming around the time he was doing this which most likly inspired it. It's currently in post-production.
The interaction between Bo and Socko is reflective of what is going on in the real world. People are forced to accept only one version of the truth and any other perspective (consipiracy or no) are forced to comply with the "norm" being forced onto us.
I disagree. The answer is usually "all of the above"
i’m pretty sure it’s more of an attack on “progressive” privileged people who ask oppressed folks on their problems with the pretense of “being a better person” when really, things like that can be just as oppressive. being a constant reminder, and assuming the they have the responsibility of teaching you. or that they even feel the need to do that. not everyone is a activist or well studied, or even willing to bear an oppressive cross.
in this scenario socko represents someone oppressed, being reminded that they don’t have a certain privilege, while also being expected to explain the intricacies of his oppression. when he gets a little mad about it and too intense, bo tells him to “watch your mouth buddy” he just trying to become a better person and to not get mad while explaining his oppression(representing something like riots or protests), cuz when the privileged want to have a conversation about it, they want to have it without their feelings being hurt while still the one holding the oppressed on their hands.
Yeah, uh, nah. It's about the exploited class being forced to tow the line or face consequences, and privileged people (mostly white liberals) only being interested in reform to the extent that it makes them feel like they're "doing good."
This isn't hilarious... this is epic.
Where that Chris Stapleton national anthem reaction ?! Chris killed it .
He is the sock but socko is was recorded, he's not like actually being a ventriloquist
Check out Jinjer - Pisces. I love seeing people react to Tati.
I remember the first time watching this when Inside came out, and I was like Bo has to be working on content for Sesame Street or something, and turns out I was right lol.
If you want to learn about Socko, look up Paul Provenza Green Room 2.1
You mentioned that it sounds like it should be on Sesame Street. Know that he did music for Sesame street before the special Inside where this content is from. There are certainly influences from Sesame Street like the use of the whurlitzer in Welcome to the Internet.
The childish thing talking about the real stuff is the literal definition of the show dinosaurs. I think you'd love that show. Doubt you'll check it out from this comment. But it was made by the maker of sesame street. And was the dark side of that muppet show.
Rip socko
I’m more of a Tim Minchin fan.
I know you’ve reacted to the song “prejudice”. If you do another, please react to “Inflatable you “ and “lullaby “ 😂
please listen to garfunkel and oats: the loop hole, i always watch those reactions when I see it.
From my perspective he seems to slip between legitimate political commentary and a sort of self-congratulatory white "online" leftism, where it's like "I want to make a difference and be recognized for it" all ego and infighting for clout and toxicity (on purpose obviously, to make a point), but he also makes some legit good points about systems of authority and capital.
please react to One Ok Rock - Take what you want (ambitions tour live )
i wish you can do some joey b toonz videos
Hey Britt, I would like to request a song by DWIGHT YOAKUM, CALLED "TWO DOORS DOWN" SOUNDS GREAT THANKS
Just saying, he made this special over the year 2020, so you gotta figure that he made this song right around the time the 2020 George Floyd protests started.
Sock was pre recorded.
You're so silly it wasn't live, so it has to be his voice edited on 😂
please react to history of the entire world i guess PLEASEEE
For the algorithm
React to NF hope
REACT TO HOPE BY NF 🙏
You've misunderstood the last part - it was the oppression. Not educational, but abusive.
She's so fine
Maybe you're skipping the political point of this because politics leads to drama but this is a song about how the corrupt government, how history is written by the winners, how "the man" covers it all up. Bo is the government and the sock is the people.
Its not just the governments, is the power of wealth in general. He explicitly calls out the corporate elite.
Am I the only one thinking that the sock is kind of an asshole for lashing out at Bo? The sock drops a bombshell on him and of course its a natural reaction for anyone to ask "Oh shit. Like... can i do something about it?" The sock can just say "I dont know" and leave it as that. Instead the sock makes it about race. The white sock.
(Disclaimer: Half of this comment is sarcastic)
It's not about race, it's about liberals who virtue signal with no interest in actually solving issues. Bo makes it about himself ("I was just trying to be a better person") instead of the cause, places the burden of instruction on someone being oppressed rather than seeking out literature on his own, then gets uncomfortable when it's pointed out he's part of the problem and drops the facade of altruism, resorting to threats of further oppression.
@@SuzakuX Socko does make it about race the moment he disparagingly mentions Bo's race.
And again, if you explain something to someone and your first reaction to them asking what they can do is to tear them down, then you're just being an asshole. I mean, a simple "I don't know how to fix that" would have been enough.
Last but not least, I understand the skits messages. Doesn't mean I have to agree with every part of it.
Just imagine that sock was black.
