    You’re showing your youth Paul. Bad Co. is from Bad Company, the 70’s band, and Bron-yr Aur is a Led Zeppelin song. 😊

    It's hard to imagine the logistics involved in building these houses 100+ years ago. They're in the middle of nowhere. Roads might have been more like tracks. Basic transport. Probably railway used. No just popping up to Bunnings for some building needs. People were tough back then.

    Hi Paul, that second one reminds me very much of our childhood’s old farmhouse from the now very distant past. It started off as a shepherd’s cottage in somewhere the 1860’s then grew into a four room crucible layout with that ‘Soldier Settlers’ roofline plus the low stuccoed parapet walls around those styled verandahs post WW1.
    Gave me the shivers as did living there actually. You’re correct with your 1920’s estimate.

    Would you EXPLAIN why 2 names for a Toilet??? A LOU and Dunni

    • @shez5964
      @shez5964 5 месяцев назад +4

      I grew up only using the word Dunny for toilet. I first heard the word Loo at high school in the mid 70s when a class mate used it. I think she was trying to impress by using a term common in England. I suspect when these properties were in their heyday it was dunny that was used.

    • @mostlypeacefulcerealkiller2145
      @mostlypeacefulcerealkiller2145 5 месяцев назад +4

      My granddad said stuff about the dunny man. They used to have outside pan toilets that the dunny can man used to empty & dispose of. We had outside toilets in the 80's in a rural area, 1 was the pit variety so dunny man was before my time.
      My kids refer to the toilet as a dunny & they don't know why. Loo is the polite word for toilet, I googled it's French origins gardyloo
      Loo, dunny, crapper-fromThomas Crapper the toilet inventor. All terms used. It just is.

    • @JohnShinn1960
      @JohnShinn1960 5 месяцев назад +1

      Hopper, john, crapper, commode, throne, shitter, porcelain god and many more that I can't think of at the moment.

    Even if I had an abandoned old house not habitable on a property I would shut the doors so critters didn't poop in it. Silly but it just seems wrong somehow. I grew up on a farm where the old man improvised with things, so he would have found it handy for sheep sheltering in a storm or away from foxes. Man, he used to make some dodgy assed stuff though.

    • @urbexindigo5164
      @urbexindigo5164  5 месяцев назад +2

      Hi MPCK :-) Yes the critters and wildlife sure do make these places their home once they are left to rot. Making dodgy stuff and improvising is farming life hey? haha :-)

    These farmhouses need to be saved. It occured to me, that what if you were this persons great-grandchildren, and you knew your family had owned this home- how sad that would be. Once these homes are gone, nothing is left, but I would be fine living in those times. The first home I loved, minus the grow operation, the second, I have never seen a home with murals on the walls, either- most of the ones you film have had to concentrate on making a living, and wouldn't have had the money to bring all the things needed to pour a concrete home out in the middle of nowhere, much less paint murals on walls. Do you have any information on who owned the farm? Also, why are Peppercorn trees always near the farmhomes? Thanks for a great explore, as usual. I hope the cats are doing well!!!!--SDK

    • @urbexindigo5164
      @urbexindigo5164  5 месяцев назад +2

      Hi SDK :-) Have no info on either of these ones and it would be great to see them saved but its a very unlikely prospect. The peppercorn tree is definitely an interesting question as to why but even my Mum`s homes which is mine now has one right at the back door! :-)

    The first house appeared to be a "party house", the people there likely had some good times that I wouldn't have minded being a part of at all.
    The second house was a rare one, I've seen poured concrete basements but never the whole house.
    Thanks for the tours Paul!
    Stayin tuned! 👍🤠 🇺🇲

    #2 was a beauty of old. It was a bit snazzy for its time out in the country. Is that wheat in the fields?
    If today's young ppl had to live and work thru these times, they'd have a greater appreciation of the luxuries we have today. And I mean from the early settlers days thru the 60's .. I was milking cows in the 60's .. where would we be without farmers and ranchers, the backbone of all our countries. Thanks Paul.

    Thanks for another great video. One thing I love about all these old homes are the trees and garden plants still living. The beautiful old conifers are so reminiscent of these homes. What’s with the sheep being allowed to wander through properties. Annoying! They don’t need shelter inside as there is trees and sheds outside.
