  • In this clip from the Friday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Mike's Beer Bar, host Christopher Carter and Post-Gazette Steelers insider Brian Batko react to the latest from OTAs. Why have linebackers Patrick Queen and Payton Wilson made strong first impressions since joining the team via NFL free agency and the NFL draft, respectively? How much better can they be than past MLB options including Devin Bush and Robert Spillane? Where do they fit with existing personnel like Elandon Roberts and Cole Holcomb? And how much can they lift the performance of the unit as a whole alongside names like T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward and Minkah Fitzpatrick? Our duo tackles those questions and more.

It's amazing that with all his NFL experience, Queen is only eight months older than Payton Wilson.

Being deep at linebacker is a must.they see alot of attrition.until we build a strong defensive line which I hope will happen by next year.these backers will have to be the stand outs of the d.

Kenny Pickett has destroyed my confidence in any preseason performance.

Ha. Totally. This is all Monopoly $$$ right now. Worth nothing. I got sucked into the Pickett hype last year as well.

Yes I call it the Steeler hype train. :) But I think this year might just be the real deal

Mine too. Pickett looked like Joe Montana in those preseason games.

If Payton Wilson is big enough to take people down. He's going to be a beast for us

We still need a true #2 receiver and it’s really clear to see it, even though i believe Wilson will be good at some point, but with the schedule the way it is we have to start out hard and win those games and can’t wait for rookies to pick it up from game one and trust that happens, so we really need to get someone who pushes people to play better at the #2 spot, iron sharpening iron right?

They need a true number one. Pickens is not proved himself to be a number one receiver in the league yet

Someone in the locker room has an opportunity to step up into the #2 CB and #2 WR position...

Where do all of these people keep getting the idea that George Pickens is a #1 receiver in the NFL. He might be this year, but he has not proven himself long-term.
