I took my dog to Pdsa hospital oldbury on Sunday the 7th of Feb .we travelled from Bloxwich because our normal pdsain Wolverhampton was closed so about when we got there waited in the car while the vet checked him over .We wasnt expecting Archie back because he was struggling to breathe after a while one of the nurses came to the carpark to tell us the vet wanted to talk to us about Archie .He told us they had given Archie some oxygen and he had perked up they told me to up archives steroids to 2 a day and I was handed a new drug they wanted to try him on and start him on it that night .And Archie could come home we were over the moon that he was coming home we got home about 4.0clock I gave Archie his new tablet with a little food .and expected to give Archie his normal steroid and his new tablet that he had been started on but during the evening there was no improvement Archie couldn't or wouldn't lie down because his breathing was still the same as when he saw the vet earlier .10.50 the same night Archie collapsed and died right in front of us after a lot of suffering leading up to his death we rang the hospital as it was happening and they asked us to check his breathing which they had done earlier in the day but sent him home .just after midnight we had to return Archie back to the hospital dead How could this happen it wasn't the normal vet's we go to it was a actual Hospital where the vet who seen Archie shoul have taken the decision to put Archie to sleep if he knew how ill he was or being a hospital kept him there the night to try and stabiliz his condition instead he lead us to believe new drug for Archie he would be ok he even asked me to call back in the week Archie was a 12yr old rescue who we loved very much and for this to happen has broken our hearts .He had the chance to be put out of this world peacefully .but he was denied this he was sent home to die a painful death there has been no explanation or apology for Archie or us

Hi Carol, I'm so sorry to hear about Archie and his passing. I am unable to comment on matters to do with the pet hospitals and the teams on the social media sites are not medically trained but if you would like some answers to your concerns then you would need to contact the pet hospital and speak with customer services manager.
Hope you find comfort in the lovely memories you shared with Archie and again I'm sorry to hear he has passed away ❤️
      Thanks
      Nicky🐾

Hi Jayne, thanks for your comment. If you are registered and it’s an emergency then please call your registered pet hospital and select option 3 then option 3.
If it’s non-urgent you could request an appointment from our website using this link: www.pdsa.org.uk/pet-help-and-advice/vet-call-back-request
If you are not registered or need to renew your registration then please check your eligibility using this link: www.pdsa.org.uk/pet-help-and-advice/eligibility then if eligible follow the guidance to register.
I am also providing a useful link to pet bereavement: www.bluecross.org.uk/pet-bereavement-and-pet-loss
      Hope this helps
      Nicky
