Impressive!! great to see serious workshops investing on boroscopes and other tech tools augment service capabilities. I would certainly be attracted to your workshop if ever I own a porsche. Cylinder wall scoring is a serious problem which ought to be prevented and addressed. Superb customer service attitude. thumbs up bro!
Thanks for your kind feedback! Yup, cylinder boring is a serious issue but from what I've seen from the 987.1s in Malaysia I have neither encountered one personally nor heard of any fellow 987.1 owners facing this issue.
From what I’ve gathered (but don’t quote me), the 3.2 is a lot less likely to get bore scoring because pistons are cast and not forged like the 3.4. Also I think they also changed the cylinder lining. Good to see that your car’s engine is in good nick!
Haha, I won't bro. To deep dive further, I would understand if it was cracked piston then yes then perhaps it could be due to cast piston isn't as strong as forged. In the case of bore scoring, I am unable to draw the connection between the issue & cast/ forged pistons. Also, forged pistons are more durable than cast ones.
i am contemplating on a 997.1 or a cayman with the m97 engines, the IMS and bore scoring is the scariest part, great informative video and i hope you could do a ims videos as well sharing the cost of replacing them as a preventative measure..
Tbh, both issues are sometimes overrated. Yes, it's a possibility but for M97 engines I haven't heard of any IMS failures or bore scoring from the 997.1 or 987.1 I've met. Noted, shall take into consideration on making a video on IMS 👍🏼
@@ThePorscheLover Hi Adrian, in the worst case what is the possible cost? I steel sleeve solution, i am not sure if any in malaysia can handle it. Also the possible cost estimation just to prepare for the worst.
Yup, it's actually a ducktail. I am a huge fan of ducktails, I have them on both my 987 and 997 👍🏼 No plans to mass produce, but if you're interested we can chat over Instagram or via WhatsApp. Link is in the description above 👍🏼
Am curious to know, has your 987.1 had bore scoring issues? If yes, at what mileage?

I wish you lived in my city so you could work on my 987.1. Your videos are great!
Wow, you made my day with your kind comments👍🏼
Thanks again for your view & support! 🙏🏻
Bro, may i know roughly how much is the cost to fix for bore scoring issue in Malaysia?
Hi bro, that would depend on the engine & also to how severe the extent of damage is

Tbh, I'm unsure as we have yet to overhaul any engine failure due to bore scoring failure
What spoiler is that on the 987.1 Boxster?
It's a custom spoiler that was 3D printed 👍🏼
@@ThePorscheLover looks great, a bit like a duck tail. Any plans to mass produce and sell?
