Xenogears is my top game of alltime. You seem to love story in games and to me, it has the best story of any media i have ever experienced. Also both Lunar games are great and highly recommend playing them.
0:50 = Nice collection of PS1 games you have here, Pam! The PS1 era sure had a huge array of impressive games, and it’s a fun collection to enjoy for generations.

Glad to see you have it in your collection and that you consider it one of your favorites, Pam! 👍👍
I loved Lunar Silver Star Story on the Playstation. I played the heck out of it in high school, it was hard. Like, REAL hard. It was pretty interesting how the bosses would scale to your level, so if you overlevelled you would still get rocked by the boss.
Yup, fear effect its freaking good, and it gets even better in the last disc, by the way, do you remember the part when you have to distract the enemies with the "towel trick" lol ?
When I first got Final Fantasy VII I stayed up all night playing as my friend watched. Hi Pam. Great video. The PS1 can be hard to revisit on modern displays due to graphical fidelity, lag, and up-scaling artifacts. I would definitely recommend investing in an old 14” CRT with a SCART socket (I know S-Video was the high standard in North America during the analogue era but really, RGB is the only way to go) as you will get the clearest picture and not have to deal with lag and timing issues in games like Um Jammer Lammy. You have an amazing collection. Almost all the heavy hitters. I recommend the 3 Resident Evil games. I think they will fit in your collection really nice
Thanks Pam another video gem. It made me think how few PS1 games I actually bought. Tekken 2 was my first game. RE 1 2 3 and Silent Hill was my PS1 library. I got console March 96. I still need to play PE 1&2. My game playing time has suffered last 14 years.
My two Rottweilers both are visual and into TV they Howl at alot of commercials that come on. Try playing games with two dogs barking and jumping at screen while you play :) A new level of difficulty added to games lol. I've had tons of dogs in my life never have any loved TV like these do. I can imagine them loving a VR headset lol.
i absolutely love the ps1;its one of my favorite systems of all time and its good to see people revealing there collections on youtube;i have the ps1 classic and i love it so far
I bought my first playstation in 98 when I found out Thunder Force V was being released. Then I picked up Einhander, R-type Delta, G-Darius, Tomba, and Klonoa. Later, I got a boot disc and imported Gradius Gaiden and several other great shmups. A great system, good job on the video. One day, I had a terrible notion to trade in about 40 of my most treasured PS1 games(including Suikoden 1 and 2 and all the Working design games I had) It was a blue monday for me the next day, I was sick with regret.
My Favorite Startup in the 5th Gen Era is the PlayStation Startup everytime I put a Game in, turn the System on, and Oh My God the PS1 Startup will always hold a Special Place in my Heart since It Brings back alot of Memories from when I was just a Little Toddler (When I was 2 or 3 back in 2000 or 2001) so I still remember it from that time
@@Cannotbetamed1 I didn't start Developing Memories Until I was 3 (In 2001) since it's almost 2020 (Then after 2020 it'll be 2021) I have a Big Memory of almost Everything from my Life from watching Music Videos on MTV but hey I still remember those Music Videos from 2 Decades Ago (Once I looked them up on RUclips they always Jog my Memory) so yeah
Solid collection Pam, of course from you I would expect that as you always are a quality type of gamer. I should probably follow your lead on that one and purge my stuff in the future. Of course, I have said that for a couple years now and it still has not happened.
Great video 👏, my favorite console to collect games at the moment, particularly hidden gems from japan. And many other playstation 1 games are getting expensive as time passes by: Tomba, Einhander, silent hill, castlevania symphony of the night, Arc the lad collection, elemental gearbolt, medievil, Jersey Devil, Xenogears, Brave Fencer Musashi, etc etc .... I love your collection, games from every genre 👏, Fear Effect it's really good, give it a try, the puzzles are kind of clever as well.
Great vid as always. Wing Commander IV is great, though the loading times between FMV sequences is a little brutal (3DO version for some reason is better at this). I highly recommend the Suikoden series (1 / II on PS1). These are excellent JRPG games with a solid story and encompassing recruitment system (108 Stars of Destiny). Another series to check out - King's Field.
I agree, suikoden 2 is probably my all time favorite ps1 game, yes i like it even more than any ff-game. The story, fast-paced battles, the completely crazy villain Luca, castlebuilding and recruiting, mini-games, Amazing Music, its just packed with so much good stuff. I probably played through it at least 20 times
For psp rpg`s Chrono cross is very cool and vagrant story two of the only good rpg`s in psx there is final fantasy never will play it trash games all are the only one i finish is the psp version and so lame.Hi all the way from mèxico. Saludos a todos.
Cool collection! I had a lot of fun during the PS1 time period. Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Gran Turismo, and Xenogears were some of my favorite games. Not going to spoil anything but I think you will like Xenogears once you start getting into the story. It has one of the best story lines/characters of any RPG I've played imo. Though due to some business issues and time pressures, many fans believe the game was rushed and did not feel as polished as it should of been but a great game regardless. An honorable mention here would be the (Twisted Metal) series and the (Tekken) series as well. You've just earned a sub! Nice video and keep up the great content.
Epic collection Pam! Castlevania SOTN is a masterpiece! I still think Legend of Dragoon deserves an HD Remaster. The Fifth Element is one of my favorite movies, but the game is awful. Vandal Hearts is actually one of my favorite games of all time. Some of the graphics haven't aged well, but it has a great story. Xena was a great show!
Glad I ran into this channel, love these smaller review channels. :) (subbed!) Oh and don't feel bad, I have a HUGE backlog as well. 😩 I also start games and sometimes just... trail off.. Same thing happened to me with Symphony of the Night actually.
Hey Pam you have such a wonderful collection of PS1 games and i love your channel very much and i hope you will do extra more well soon keep up the amazing work :)
Nice! PSX was pretty much the only console that I got into growing up. Many good titles for NTSC alone, along with hidden gems and that's not even taking a look at imports. I only had a handful of games but learning in recent years about all of the titles that you can get for this has been eye opening.
Great collection. Some of my favs in there for sure. I have a lot of nostalgia for Fear Effect. Its too bad the controls are so horrible. I probably liked it so much because of its "adult" content when I was an edgy teen. Apocalypse is one of my favorites as well. I always had a mancrush on Bruce Willis plus the game is actually pretty decent. Its similar to the game "ONE" if you ever played that one. Im the same as in I got into JRPGs on PSX but I've since lost interest. But Legend of Dragoon and FF7, 8 and 9 are amazing. Wild Arms was fantastic as well. Colony Wars, Metal Gear Solid, MDK, Tenchu, Tekken 2, Tomb Raider 1 and 2 and the first 2 Resident Evils are peak PSX to me. My favorite point and click for PSX was the first Clock Tower. That game terrified me. Definitely try it if you get the chance. Great video. Edit: Also, love the shirt :)
So much good stuff in your PS1 library! Rayman was one of the handful of PS games I traded away, because I got frustrated with it. It didn't play enough like the platformers I was used to in the 8 and 16-bit era, and some of the jumps felt off to me, so it didn't click. I've picked it up again recently though. I would encourage you to give Lunar a try, though I can safely say that, despite my love for the original, the sequel is better. Still, it's a fun and heartwarming story, and the whole package is great. Awesome soundtrack, fun characters, good voice acting, and a cute story. Parasite Eve! Love that game. Symphony of the Night is another one I'd say give another chance. The soundtrack alone makes that game worth playing, but honestly, the light RPG elements and other accouterments really help elevate that game. Vandal Hearts is actually really good, and has a good soundtrack. We played it last February for RF Gen, and it was my first SRPG experience. I really enjoyed it. I remember renting Fear Effect, and while the tank controls didn't bother me, I had a hard time figuring out what to do. That's one I want to track down, along with its sequel, and go back to at some point.
Wow, that's a pretty cool collection of PS1 games. I had one back then and I haven't heard of some of these game. Shout out for Lost World Jurassic Park, fun game, especially when you play the velociraptor and T-rex against human hunters. Had no idea original X-Com came to PS1. I had the Command and Conquer PS1 releases. Theme Hospital, loved messing around in that game back in the day. Interested in a unique FPS PS1 game? Check out, Space Hulk Vengeance of the Blood Angels. It's an FPS mixed with strategy elements bases on a fun Warhammer 40k board game. Also recommend: Syphon Filter trilogy, Soviet Strike/Nuclear Strike, Metal Gear Solid, and Die Hard Trilogy. This one has tank controls, but it is a unique PS1 classic, Galerians. Basically, Resident Evil meets Akira.
I can't believe these stories on youtube about how their parents just casually offered a brand new console. I had the PS1 on my Christmas list every year until I finally got one in 1998 and it only came with a demo disk. I had to purchase the games myself and money was very hard to come by when I was 14. But my friends all acquired consoles easily too. lol.
8:57 = Fear Effect is a game I’ve never heard of in my childhood. I somehow stumbled upon it when in college, with its sequel Retro Helix being my introduction. I was impressed with how they did the face expressions on the models given the limitations at the time. It’ll be a while before I give them both a playthrough. But they’re very unique!
It's inferior to the sega CD version. I was a huge fan of the original and was stoked for this to come out. I bought it, played through the entire thing and it was terribly underwhelming. It lost practically all of the charm from the original version.
@@Vsinger82 I wouldn't say inferior...they both have their fair share of improvements and shortcomings when compared to the other. I think it's very much one of those things where if you played the Sega CD version first, SSSC will always fall short in your eyes and vice-versa. If I had to recommend a version to someone who's played neither, I would probably tell them to play Silver Star Story complete. It has a level of cosmetic and technical polish, along with a few game play tweaks which I think make it a more enjoyable experience overall.
DementedDistraction that’s fine, you can say whatever you like. I stick by my stance that it is far and away inferior. Just because a game has “graphical polish” does not make it a better gameplay experience. The art style and sprites were completely changed and I thought the original was way more appealing. They also added a bunch of padding, voice acting and cutscenes that made the story drag. I found the rehash to be shell of its former glory.
@@Vsinger82 By all means, stick by your stance - convictions are a good thing. However, boiling down my statement to simply isolate part of what I said, and then referencing it as the sum of my intent is a rather misguided basis upon which to pin a rebuttal. Your latter points are simply subjective conjecture - and again, convictions are good, but to completely dismiss the Playstation version of the game despite its improvements to the original (while accounting for its flaws) subverts any attempt at a balanced comparison of the two.
@DementedDistraction. dismissing the PlayStation version would be simply not playing it, which I did in it’s entirety. These improvements that you are noting are subjective to the player so I’m not disagreeing with you; I just don’t find them to be improvements. My opinion is that They took a game that was charming and unique and turned it into a generic hodgepodge that (to me) did not stand out in a sea of ps1 RPGs. I’m not going to sit here and say my nostalgia doesn’t play a factor in that.
.....ok I want that Civ2 now. I love the PC version and the video bits you showed look adorable. I could get into that. I've been meaning to make a PSX collection video for awhile now.... but I think I'll go in order and do Genesis/Sega CD sometime soon instead.
I just found out about your channel and I can't stop watching your videos. I hope you review Xenogears in the future. I played Xenosaga on PS2 and it was an interesting mix of Final Fantasy and philosophy. You're lucky to have Xenogears. It's rare and expensive now.
Don’t have a way to play them but I still got complete copies of Lunar Eternal Blue and Arc the Lad Collections. Wish Working Designs was still around.
For me its Tenchu, Metal Gear Solid, King of Fighters 98 and Ridge Racer Type 4. Dont forget to try out Harmful Park Panzer Bandit Gunners Heaven Adventures of little Ralph Real Bout Special Fatal Fury: Dominated Mind.
Please, please, please play Silent Hill. I just recently beat it and it was surprisingly amazing! It’s well worth a play through and facing your fears. I know I did. 🙂
A good way to face your fear if you're willing is to use guides, just briefly know what you're about to get yourself into and it takes some of that edge off.
Pam! as someone who had a PS1 when they came out...i'm happy to say on my PS3 and PS4 Online store was able to get Legcy of Kane/Silent Hill 1/the RE 1-4 just to name of few that i downloaded in to my 2 system. you know if you don't want to over pay for the CDs
Fear effect is great, I have to try it again. I don't have any problems with tank controls, I played the RE remake remaster recently and used the original controls.
FFVII was also my inspiration for not only getting a PS1, but also getting my first job to pay for it, and also legit get into the FF series! On a semi related note: SotN is still prob my favorite GAME of all time.
Wow nice collection , sadly I purchased first PS1 in 2005 that is slim model yeah I know I was too late , at the time I played all piracy disc now I have that console but no collection
More recommendations: The first Tomb Raider, Driver and GTA2. Also, International Superstar Soccer Pro 98 is an amazing soccer game for the system. (Due to the saving system with crystals, perhaps you want to play Tomb Raider on the PC instead to be able to save anywhere)
This was a trip down memory lane for me. I could only think of maybe 6 games I had for PS1, but this had a few in it that I'd forgotten like FF8 and Abes Odyssey (great game, and I'd suggest its graphics would still hold up on PS1) I also sat and watched the complete walk through of Syphon Filter which I also had after watching your top 5 PS1 games today ... and thats 3 hrs I can't get back and I blame you 😁 FFIX better that FFVII? Wash your mouth out !! Neat watch. Well done mate
I played silent hill in 1999 i was 8 years old. until 13 I couldn’t go anyplace dark without panicking also couldn’t sleep alone ahh good times indeed .
I loved Fear Effect! I grew up with those tank controls though with resident evils and the like so they never bothered me. I bought Silent Hill when it came out back in 99. No horror games have stuck with me quite like Silent Hill 1-4 have. The atmosphere and the SOUNDTRACKS!!! my god i love it. I think my greatest gaming disappointment is the cancellation of *Silent Hills*. One of my fave ps1 games of all time is.....Vagrant Story. Amazing game.....although it has box puzzles and i remember in another video of yours you said you hate those :p
I just discovered Valkyrie Profile and am working my way through it on emulator. It is already up there as one of the best JRPG's I have ever played. I can't believe I slept on it. It is actually stunningly amazing!!!
Apocalypse is one of my guilty pleasures. It's a bit corny but plays pretty well. It looks and sound good and Bruce's random quotes are hilarious, although it gets a bit repetitive after a while. I've played Civ II for a good year so much on PC back in the day. It must be in the top 5 games of games with the most hours spent with it.
FF 7 was the first game I played on the psx. My brother bought the psx and FF 7 but never got into it so I adopted the system. So many great RPGs on the Playstation.
I love how on the original ps1 model you can change the images to trippy colors and shapes when you put a music cd in it and can adjust the images speed and rotation by pressing all the different buttons on the controller. They took that feature out on the smaller ps1 model later on
@@Cannotbetamed1 i hated that they didn't include something like that on the ps2 when it came out. I was thinking, a new system? Better graphics? Maybe there's an even more trippy cd player mode. Lol. But alas, no. Oh well. Even if ps2's and ps3's can play ps1 games, that feature alone is worth owning an original ps1! At least to me 😊
Final Fantasy IX is secretly the best game in the series! While most everyone will give VI or VII that honor (for good reason mind you), I found that IX has the best balance between fun gameplay and engaging story/characters. At the time it was such a breath of fresh air too, since it took a much more light hearted approach to its design and writing. The big-head character design is supposed to be an homage to the sprites from the Nintendo days, though it does look odd in hindsight.
The cutscene in Final Fantasy IX where Vivi does his best to fight off the Black Waltz attacking the airship is one of my favorites from the FF games I've played. Sitting there going like "Kick his ass little man!" the first time I watched it.
Ah, the old "pretend to be sick to stay home & play games" trick.....never gets old 🙂.
Now I mostly just book gaming vacation days
my mum cottoned on to that quickly
I was so hooked on Tony Hawk 1 that I would skip school, but sit around playing the game in my school uniform so that when I had to run out the back door and pretend I wasn't home all day I was in the right clothes. LMAO

My Favorite Startup in the 5th Gen Era is the PlayStation Startup everytime I put a Game in, turn the System on, and Oh My God the PS1 Startup will always hold a Special Place in my Heart since It Brings back alot of Memories from when I was just a Little Toddler (When I was 2 or 3 back in 2000 or 2001) so I still remember it from that time
Wow, I have no memories of being a toddler
Cool, thanks
If you ever get a chance look up Suikoden. It is one of my favorite RPG games of all time. The story is badass in the gameplay is very very fun.
I love that game. I bought it back then and beat it.
thanks I never heard of this game, I'm going to buy it for my vita.
For psp rpg`s Chrono cross is very cool and vagrant story two of the only good rpg`s in psx there is final fantasy never will play it trash games all are the only one i finish is the psp version and so lame.Hi all the way from mèxico. Saludos a todos.
It's too bad number 3 never got an American release .
Very Nice Awesome Nice Collection My Favorite Console Playstation 1 Collection Greatest All Of Time Console System
Sweet video I've Rayman also. Such a fun game. Fave ps1 games have to Resident Evil 2 and Nightmare Creatures!
Nightmare Creatures is criminally under looked.
Thanks!
still love worlds wildest police chases video game! and driver , oh how i miss driver! great video Pam!
Ha, I didn’t know Wildest Police Chases was a game
@@Cannotbetamed1 2001 i think.
PS1 start up is amazing and so nostalgic for me it brings back great memories
Epic collection Pam! Castlevania SOTN is a masterpiece! I still think Legend of Dragoon deserves an HD Remaster. The Fifth Element is one of my favorite movies, but the game is awful. Vandal Hearts is actually one of my favorite games of all time. Some of the graphics haven't aged well, but it has a great story. Xena was a great show!
The Vandal Hearts graphics are very unique, I will check it out at some point
Glad I ran into this channel, love these smaller review channels. :) (subbed!) Oh and don't feel bad, I have a HUGE backlog as well. 😩 I also start games and sometimes just... trail off.. Same thing happened to me with Symphony of the Night actually.
Hey Pam you have such a wonderful collection of PS1 games and i love your channel very much and i hope you will do extra more well soon keep up the amazing work :)
I honestly keep an original PS1 just for the greatest system start up sound ever.
Great timing - I was getting very nostalgic for the 90s lately. Now life is full of adult stuff! :(
Nice! PSX was pretty much the only console that I got into growing up.
Many good titles for NTSC alone, along with hidden gems and that's not even taking a look at imports. I only had a handful of games but learning in recent years about all of the titles that you can get for this has been eye opening.
I still love the intro sequence and sound, I don't know why. It's a time capsule.
It’s the best
Never played Lunar??? Ya, I would play it or part 2. Great art and stories.
Thanks! I need to try the first clocktower. I’ve only played one of the later ones
Everyone keeps saying how great Vandal Hearts is which is a good sign... now I’m wondering why I didn’t play along.
Love the ps1, I've been going after the Japanese shooters the past few years, I'm glad I saved all my Ps1 RPGs from high school.
Great video 😃🕹
Thanks!
LUNAR - one of my all-time favorites.
Oh, also Tenchu Stealth Assassins and Tenchu 2 Birth of the Assassins. Classics...
Ufff final fantasy series on psx . .. .my favorites all time . . Played all new ones on pc but psx had those moments worth remembering for all time.
I love PS 1 and 2 because they are awesome and they have excellent games library
Silver Star Story complete.
I look forward to more of your collection videos
I returned N64, Mario Kart, and Eave Race...to get a PS1 and FF7. It was a great decision lol. Been in love with Playstation ever since...
I just found out about your channel and I can't stop watching your videos. I hope you review Xenogears in the future. I played Xenosaga on PS2 and it was an interesting mix of Final Fantasy and philosophy. You're lucky to have Xenogears. It's rare and expensive now.
Man, that collection sure looks big and cozy.
Don’t have a way to play them but I still got complete copies of Lunar Eternal Blue and Arc the Lad Collections. Wish Working Designs was still around.
For me its Tenchu, Metal Gear Solid, King of Fighters 98 and Ridge Racer Type 4.
Dont forget to try out
Harmful Park
Panzer Bandit
Gunners Heaven
Adventures of little Ralph
Real Bout Special Fatal Fury: Dominated Mind.
You're little late to the party, but at least you're here now.
Tank control
greatest game
Silent Hill is amazing, and to this day it's still genuinely scary - especially if you go out of your way to get the true ending.
gurl... respect. you show a lot of legends there.
very nice reserch and editing! congrats! have a like!
On the other side of the mountain, i love that musical piece. I cried during that part of the game lol
Awesome PS1 collection Pam!
Pam! as someone who had a PS1 when they came out...i'm happy to say on my PS3 and PS4 Online store was able to get Legcy of Kane/Silent Hill 1/the RE 1-4 just to name of few that i downloaded in to my 2 system. you know if you don't want to over pay for the CDs
I think I’m gonna have to pick up that Bruce Willis game some time soon, I’m an absolute sucker for games like that
Fear effect is great, I have to try it again.
Omg flashbacks. Parasite eve. Thank you for bringing this game to light. Was an amazing game!
I need to replay it sometime soon
Wow nice collection , sadly I purchased first PS1 in 2005 that is slim model yeah I know I was too late , at the time I played all piracy disc now I have that console but no collection
More recommendations: The first Tomb Raider, Driver and GTA2. Also, International Superstar Soccer Pro 98 is an amazing soccer game for the system. (Due to the saving system with crystals, perhaps you want to play Tomb Raider on the PC instead to be able to save anywhere)
This was a trip down memory lane for me. I could only think of maybe 6 games I had for PS1, but this had a few in it that I'd forgotten like FF8 and Abes Odyssey (great game, and I'd suggest its graphics would still hold up on PS1)
I also sat and watched the complete walk through of Syphon Filter which I also had after watching your top 5 PS1 games today ... and thats 3 hrs I can't get back and I blame you 😁
FFIX better that FFVII? Wash your mouth out !!
Neat watch. Well done mate
Syphon Filter? I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned that game. That’s on you :p
@@Cannotbetamed1 lol I guess so ... still .. it was one of my fave PS1 games ... graphics haven't aged well though
I played silent hill in 1999 i was 8 years old. until 13 I couldn’t go anyplace dark without panicking also couldn’t sleep alone ahh good times indeed .
loved the video me being a ps1 fan a lot of those games are memorable to me!
Ahh, box puzzles.
I was also pretty disappointed about the Silent Hills cancellation, PT was so good.
Great video. Love the ps1 collect for it myself. Mainly playing bust a groove and parappa the rapper at the moment
I love how on the original ps1 model you can change the images to trippy colors and shapes when you put a music cd in it and can adjust the images speed and rotation by pressing all the different buttons on the controller. They took that feature out on the smaller ps1 model later on
Oh yeah; I forgot about the music player bit
@@Cannotbetamed1 i hated that they didn't include something like that on the ps2 when it came out. I was thinking, a new system? Better graphics? Maybe there's an even more trippy cd player mode. Lol. But alas, no. Oh well. Even if ps2's and ps3's can play ps1 games, that feature alone is worth owning an original ps1! At least to me 😊
PS3 does have a visualiser that is much in the spirit of the PS(1) one though.
man...star ocean 2 was the greatest. will never forget hearing arlia theme for the first time.
Props for Blazing Dragons, it's a fun game! And for thinking FF9 is the best PS1 FF game.
The first game i ever played was vampire the masquerade but it was on my dads pc
I was so sad that i couldn't play it on my ps1
Have you seen vampire masquerade 2? Let's pray it's great and not a money grab....
There's already 2 of them... There's Vampire Masquerade Redemption and Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines
*bloodlines 2
@@Rihcterwilker Oh !!! I actually would prefer REDEMPTION 2. I loved that game
@@slappingvegans7940 i tried to play redemption, as it seems to have a good story, but mouse only controls is not my thing.
The cutscene in Final Fantasy IX where Vivi does his best to fight off the Black Waltz attacking the airship is one of my favorites from the FF games I've played. Sitting there going like "Kick his ass little man!" the first time I watched it.
