This Accor-managed apartment hotel was built as a part of Deira Enrichment Project, an urban regeneration scheme adjacent to the waterfront area of Deira. The hotel building, also called Afra Plaza, had 16 above-ground floors and one service basement. The ground floor was where the serviced apartments lobby and the restaurant called World of Curries was located, alongside administration offices and loading bays. Several street-facing retail spaces and a through-block arcade was also on the ground floor. The 1st to 3rd floors (numbered P1 to P3) were being used as a parking garage, with retail and visitor parking on the first floor and the floors above reserved for the use of apartment residents. 4th to 13th floors, numbered floors 1 through 10, had 189 serviced apartments, with a small garden also located on the fourth floor (floor 1) above the parking podium. The 14th floor (roof level) featured an outdoor swimming pool and gym, while the topmost floor was mechanical. The basement had back-of-house facilities and storage rooms for the hotel as well as plant areas.
The building had five elevators consisting of two guest elevators, one apartment service elevator, one laundry elevator and one retail elevator, all supplied by Fujitec via its local distributor Al Yousuf Elevators & Escalators. This video features the bank of two passenger elevators for the in-house guests. These served the ground-floor lobby, all parking and apartment floors, and the rooftop. They belonged to ZEXIA, Fujitec's latest standard gearless traction model, and had TA-11 buttons with a newer version of LED dot matrix indicators. Their cabs had a simple interior scheme consisting of anodized steel walls and white ceramic tiles. They had double-sided doors, with the front door being used on the ground floor, all apartment floors, and the roof level, and the rear door opening on the parking levels. While all apartment floors and the roof were locked, a ride up to the roof level could be taken by chance due to someone calling the elevator from that floor.
