Black Cat doesn't care about Power Shield

- There's a new season of Battlegrounds now and I was curious to see how Black Cat would fare in it. There's a Power Shield node that prevents you from dealing damage with your basic attacks and a Polka Dot Power node that means you only gain power from applying damaging debuffs to the opponent.
Ordinarily, this would mean that you'd have to apply damaging debuffs to the opponent in order to build up enough power to launch special attacks that can actually damage them. However, in this instance, Black Cat only applies Bleed debuffs and Thing is immune to that, meaning she never gains any power and therefore is unable to launch any special attacks. Can she still defeat him?

Hahaha! Yeah, honestly, me too. I completely missed that he'd drafted a Tigra when I placed Hulkling on defense. I was fully counting on losing that match, especially since I knew I had to wait out the Heist timer. I was really surprised when I came out on top. 😄

I would love a video on all the other polka dot workaround attackers. Just barely learned yesterday that Galan is still a fantastic option for this meta. Just parry M, M to a decent stack and then heavy. Harvest still works wonders.
Interesting. I can imagine that Quicksilver could work well too with his whiplashes. Champs with easy-to-access power stings (like Spider-Ham and Scorpion) might also fair well. Hm. We'll see. Thanks for the suggestion!

I knew she could do it, I just couldn’t remember if the card needed to be on me or him! Obviously this is an ideal matchup, off time alone, but the fact that she can do it is worth a million.
Yeah, they were a bit sneaky when designing her, requiring it to be on different champions depending on how you want to apply it.
I've wanted to try out this approach for a while but there has always been something that's gotten in the way, so I was happy to be able to pull it off now.

Yeah, I normally don't use her for fights where there aren't stuff for me to Sabotage into oblivion, but with that 400% boost, her SP2 is insane even against...well, everyone.

Huh, look at that. I never even noticed when fighting him (or when editing the video), but you're right. I guess Black Cat's DAAR cancelled out the stun I would have gotten, but yeah, that could really have screwed me over otherwise. Man, I would have been so angry. I've had that happen every now and again before, most often with Tigra. It's really annoying and I do hope we see a change in the future.

Yeah, it can be a bit tricky to figure out exactly which champions can deal with the meta (without directly playing into it). I would have guessed that Void would work since his damage has a tendency to sneak through stuff like this, but apparently not then. I also tried Falcon, hoping his defensive ability accuracy reduction could pierce through Power Shield, but no luck there. I wasn't sure how it worked after my Black Cat fight but now that I think about it, I could just have looked through my own video: Thing only ever takes red Sabotage-caused damage and 0 white and yellow damage from the actual hits.
What does the Black Widow relic do here
Normally, it gives you an effect on the opponent that you can fail, which would then deal damage if you have the Sabotage debuff up. However, Thing already has an effect like that (his rock stack gains), so the relic doesn't really do anything on that front.
However, it also has a secondary function, which is to give Black Cat stacks of her personal cruelty passives whenever an effect fails on Thing. I'm not sure if this ultimately influences her Sabotage damage or if it only affects her regular crits and her crit bleeds. I don't think it affects her Sabotage damage, meaning it doesn't really matter for this fight either. But it's a really good ability in general.
The last effect that the relic has on the fight is the most basic one: it adds extra hits and allows you to chain combos. That's very valuable when you want to deal a lot of damage in a short period of time. Those few hits from the relic alone dealt 18% damage to Thing, and between my first combo, my relic, and then my second combo, I managed to take off almost 50% of Thing's health in one go.
