After eating a low carb diet for the past several years, I find that eating a piece of apple or a grape is like eating candy. Cooked carrots taste sweet to me. I have lost the desire for sweet treats. Cheers
@@David.M. I couldn't agree more.I ate all the time grazing and never satisfied. Thankfully I never liked fizzy juice or fake sugar but I was packing 3 stones I didn't need. Now I'm my ideal weight, enjoy my food and never hungry just always satisfied. No crap additives or junk foods but for me no more manufactured nonsensical sugared cocoa.
Dr Maggs, I am glad to see another of your videos posted. Yes, I quit sugar, in all its forms, March 2020. Food tasted better in a week. It tastes even better now I have been on the wagon from sugar, as it were, for years. After returning to the office in about end May 2020, I could think faster than I ever had. I was always ahead of the game at work. By then, I had also lost stones in weight. I hope your viewers can achieve at least the same benefits.
Exelent video, many thanks, you've just opened my eyes.. going to quit sugar today!! I'll be back in a month and and tell how i feel after 4 weeks without sugar and processed food
Great video! 3 years ago I decided to give up “white” foods (sugar, flour, pasta, rice) the first 2 weeks were so hard…I was not prepared for the actual withdrawal symptoms- I had a horrible headache for a 10 days! Sugar is truly poisoning us, so I hope this video will encourage viewers to take the plunge and stop all sugary food and drinks ❤
Wow! I've been living a low carb lifestyle for a while now, and none of what you said here is a surprise. However, I was intrigued by the comparisons of the different sugars and their impact on our bodies. It's going to take a few.viewings to unpack all the information, but its fantastic to have it all in one place for referral!! Thanks for all your work!
Dr Maggs, Thank You Very Much. This video has made motivated me to finally cut out sugar. I will have to find a sugar free diet. I know it's not going to be easy. ATB. Reeco
You're spot on with all the pros and cons. The trick is keeping it up for the long term and unfortunately that comes down to discipline.....now where can I buy that?🤣 The temptation to eat bad stuff is overwhelming, vacations, cultural celebrations, birthdays........peer pressure effectively. In reality you have to be able to shun all this stuff and fall out with all your friends who see you as boring and won't accept your approach of fasting and high fat (because the narrative of low fat and eat little often is so baked in). Best solution, go live on a desert island away from food and everyone else. 🤣
We went cold turkey two years ago, quit sugars, carbs because all carbs including complex carbs break down to sugars, fruit because fructose is also sugar and veggies. Now eat All types of meat, fish, eggs and butter we introduced fermented foods 6 months later for our small intestines gut health. Including home made sauerkraut, kimchi, pickles and onions. I am 77 my husband 68, we lost weight, gained energy like we are in our 40s we live on 5acres and have some livestock too. All joint pain gone, high BP gone, pre diabetes gone, brain fog totally gone. We will never go back to eating processed foods that are high in sugars especially carbohydrates. Don't miss them nor crave them now and only took a few weeks to overcome all those yrs of cravings. Look up oxalate in fruit and veggies if you suffer from joint pains and eliminate them for a month and feel the difference. We occasionally now eat a handful of blue berries or a banana our fruits should be included in the sugars list. We take 100% responsibility for our own health and what you eat now is going to impact your health in yrs to come so your choice your fault. 🎉
Dr Maggs has other videos on going ‘keto.’ Coming off sugar means cutting out sweets, chocolate, ice cream, sodas, sweet fruits and all fruit juices, starchy food (that is a long list). I wish you well in your own low sugar journey.
You become happier and you get a lot better oxygenation and much better blood circulation. More energy. you loose weight, and your kidney works better.
What works for me is making sure I get 2 doses of Berberine a day and 2 shots of apple cider vinegar a day, especially at momens when I feel the cravings. I do this for a week or so when I get off track. If the apple cider vinegar is too strong diluted with a bit of water and a bit of allulose which actually can help curb that craving in of itself, not stevia or monk fruit or any others sweetner but specifically allulose because it is less sweet and not works on the GLP1 receptors. Hope it helps.
For all intent and purposes, it's not misleading. Trivial and incidental consumption doesn't really matter in context. The purist mentality is hardly ever a good approach for human behavior.
@@DrDanMaggs you may have reduced your sugar consumption (eg no fruit juice) but you still consumed sugar through regular diet. Exception would be a pure keto diet.
Wasted more than a year of my life doing the stupid keto diet! Now, I eat starches, fruits, vegetables, legumes, and refined sugar- heaps of sugar every day- and I have never felt better! You must be mad to be scared of sugar but not saturated fat! A low-fat, high-carb diet is the recipe for a happy, healthy and energetic lifestyle! Where in our evolutionary course did man prefer fat over carbs!? We are descendants of apes, and last time I checked, they thrived on fruits and roots, which, you guessed right, are full of sugar!

I've only been doing it a few months and I'm with you on that one. Grated 100% cacao chopped date on yoghurt is like a kilo of angel delight
Taste buds adapt in a very short time. Sugar cravings should disappear quickly if sugar and artificial sweteners are eliminated .

4 months low carb for me so far. Diabetes gone on Carnivore diet in only 2 months
I have been totally off sugar and alcohol for 18 months now. I feel AMAZING! Will never go back to a standard western diet.

I gave up sugar with Dr Dan in Jan 2023. That vegetables I eat now have an amazing taste. Lose the sugars people.
you did a great job.
You mean the processed sugar that is added from a packet right?

Yes and no. He means that AND all the sugar that’s in processed foods.
Great video
Thank you....
Interesting video, but Im left uncertain about carbs i this context. Is rice and potatoes also to be avoided then? And fruit completely?
You become happier and you get a lot better oxygenation and much better blood circulation. More energy. you loose weight, and your kidney works better.
Great video! thanks for that 🙏🏽
Is that off the cuff or a teleprompter?
Thanks in advance 🙏🏽
Thanks! Yes, it's off a teleprompter. If you look closely at my eyes you can see me reading! :)
@ thanks 🙏🏽 great content. 🙂 good teleprompter reading as well! 👌🏽😁
I drink kombucha teas, but I seem to steer clear from the candy and alcohol isles.
With me the detox is always long and grueling. Any Advice to lessen the blow?

Title is misleading. There’s glucose in most food. I doubt you never consumed sugar for 30 days.
Why is the title misleading?
For all intent and purposes, it's not misleading. Trivial and incidental consumption doesn't really matter in context. The purist mentality is hardly ever a good approach for human behavior.
