Having heard all about your situation while walking last year, both from Janice as well as our mutual friends like "the Three Australians" (Steve, Karen and Gai) I feel like I know you, Dennis. I could not be happier for you, returning to complete this life long dream! Be glad you had a delayed emotional reaction. I cried like a blubbering baby, and made an idiot of myself. I got in line at the Compostela office, and the man said "Welcome to Santiago! You have come a long way." and I started bawling all over again. LOL! Very cathartic, at least. LOVED the song choice! It was perfect! If you have a chance, go to the Pilgrim House. It's a very special place. In the back, they have a desk area where they encourage you to write a letter to your "future self." They have an evening "debrief" which was helpful if you are challenged to process it all and to re-engage. Also, if Janice didn't tell you already, the little Cafe Bar Suso not far from the Cathedral was a GREAT place for breakfast/brunch. Now on to Porto! I can't wait!

Congratulations seems wrong in a way. I have walked into Santiago eleven times now. Each time has been different. Back in 2007 I was the only pilgrim in the plaza. Last month there were thousands of people in the plaza after my Camino Fonseca. For me Santiago may be the physical destination but I have learned that the Camino continues, perhaps even begins, when you arrive in front of the cathedral. The Frances has a special magic for me and draws me back time and again. In August I fly out from Edinburgh to walk the Frances again. I am so pleased that you have gained so much from your experience. Ultreia et Suseia.
