  • There will be no subtitles because I cringe with self-hatred at what I'm seeing and don't want to do that more than once, so I'll explain what happened down here in the description box instead. (Doing this is of course for my non-English speakers.)
After discussing other affairs as faculty members, Dr. Dianna Campbell asked what I'll be starting with, I said Ombra Mai Fu by Handel, sang that, then between the other two pieces out of the three they chose Music of the Night by Andrew Lloyd Webber because the other one I did for the Student Recital and apparently you can't do it for both recital and jury, I sang it, and I was done.
I say self-hatred because I did not do my best nor did I prepare myself to do my best very well at all. Because of Music Theory assignments I committed VERY little time to just sing regularly and that is what reduced vocal quality in the jury performance: not making time to sing as to maintain a certain level of quality in my sound. What you hear in this performance is half quality maintained in the Handel piece with a little bit of flatness to certain notes due to the width of my vibrato and awful quality maintained within Music of the Night because of a forced, unnatural-sounding vibrato. I REALLY needed to maintain that vocal quality I've had for years at this point and because I didn't I suffered a sub-par, mediocre performance that was nowhere near what I was capable of all along. In summary, what I learned from this semester and this jury performance is I need to ALWAYS maintain a certain level of quality that I've had for years at this point and let that be the basis to being able to learn any new pieces and any new technical nuances I might be lacking.
