This is Andrew's video of the third day. We had a tough time with seal lions that day! Chased em down with the boat and tried to starve them of oxygen lol check the video to see who wins! ruclips.net/video/_yaz9A6ZFqM/видео.html
Matt, when the fish is freshly caught, the texture will be firm, but if you wait a few days, it will become softer. That's what I've observed on what sushi chefs do. Maybe you can try it out for a better experience!
LETS GO!
We can’t let those BEASTs beat us like that! We will be back... good fishing with you again 🎣🤟
No way LET'S GO show them sea lions who's boss.
I miss that the first time 420 indeed 😉
When you are using a surface iron, don’t set the hook. Just reel into it. That’s why you were losing them
Noted.
@Mendoza Juan "Mendoza!!!!"
@@FishermansLife Not a professional on surface irons by any mean, but try to find the speed of the surface iron when reeling it in. It should have a swimming action that wobbles. Each surface iron has a different retrieve speed but once you dial it in you will have a lot more hookups. Good luck out there next time!

Who else has yellowtail on their bucket list?! 🙋♂️🙋♀️
Go get me man they are great fish
Love your videos man, they’ve taught me a lot. ✌️
I'll volunteer to be the Newbie/Rook on a Addicted Fishing/Fisherman's Life colab trip... :)
Eat the heart when you do. It's not the greatest but a right of passage. Bluefin heart was actually tasty.
i've always wanted to catch tuna but have never gotten the oppurtunity. It would be great to catch a tuna and then make some sushi with it.
Fisherman’s Life got me into fishing 🎣 One of the best fishing Channels 🤙🏽
He’s the bob ross of fishing and butter
I agree my bro stopped watching he said it was boring
Daniel Willis it was a complement lol he ain’t boring
Agreed! I love his channel.
Him and Ace Videos are my favorite, a colab would be so cool!
I I’ve been blessed to fish in a lot of locations around this beautiful planet we get to call home and I swear upon a stack of Bibles this has to be the most exciting two-person small boat fishing video I ever seen - it was really exciting and panicking at the same time to see if you guys would land another yellowtail after another magnificent yellowtail. Super awesome job. I can see why you have the numbers you have your new excised fan from the UpperLeftUSA.

I need to catch one of these one day! So sick dude
Go for it man! Get out there
@John Smith or he just wanted to comment on a good video? Plus he deserves more subs. He is one of if not the most underrated fishing youtuber
“Nah were not happy yet. Limit is five.” My mood every time fishing 😂😂😂
Shit,no limit in wa
Jacob Ishii must be nice damn lol
Thats the worst attitude to have, you don’t need to aim for limits, just get enough for a feed.
wolf ferguson right
I dig Andrew. He’s so laid back and always so happy!!
I don't remember, did you ever showed a barracuda or gar catch and cook?
Man, I'm so glad you are back! =)
I can’t tell you the discipline it takes to not skip ads when watching your vlogs. But hanging in there to stay supportive lol. Thanks for all you do
Great Video. I like this Andrew. He seems like an awesomely chill dude. Perfect fishing buddy.
Just what I needed for my insomnia
Netarded Riggas enjoy the vid
I feel you
Bruh fr huh
Just what I need for my 4 am dinner
Bro you would have such an easier and funner time reeling in the fish without the clicker on bro... Try it next time. 👊🎣💯👍
I really enjoyed this video. It was like being there...boat rockin', blue skies, bending rods. So cool. Thanks.
You're getting good Matts, I'm proud of you! Came a long way from when you were getting tips on the butter boat. What a lot of people don't realize is that becoming a good fisherman is mastering the skills of managing timing for about 5 different screw-ups all trying to get you at the same time. Managing constant small adjustments in boat speed and direction, positioning, lines in or out to prevent tangles, hazards like sea lions/weeds on your gear, and doing it all efficiently enough so you're not spending all your time fixing mistakes instead of fishing hahaha. A good deckhand is worth their weight in gold. Train your boys to be good too.
Some heart pounding action fellas.. Thanks for taking us along.
lol good one on the fish sign...
That piece of gut you left on that fish had my ocd activated
😂 sorry. Fish was clean enough
"little gut never hurt nobody"
Disturbed your ocd lol
I’ve been fishing ever since I could get into the boat. When you get a fish on, your heart beats faster than ever. Adrenaline Rush like no other. This video had me at the edge of my seat. Keep em coming. Thanks. Greg (I’m 69 years young. )
Man every time I watch one of your videos I have to go grab a rod and go fishing; doesn't matter the weather, off I go in the Jersey rains.
Great catches man. Tight lines.
Watching this at 2am, Notification Gang! 🛎

🤙🏽
Yup
Wow, looks like those things fight way harder than chinook up in the bay! I’m not 1000% sure on this but I’d do some reading on it-I think you have to be careful eating raw fish now days because of the high risk of parasites 🦠. Almost all sushi restaurants freeze their fish first now days to kill anything that could be in the meat. Just something I’ve heard and thought I’d let you know 🙌🏻. Great video! Definitely gets the stoke up
When the fish get up to the 35+ lb range, they are absolute beasts and thugs in the ocean. They will rock you and they are very SMART! If you are in the kelp, they will go through the kelp and hang up your gear. If you are in the rocks, they head straight into the rocky area to break you off. When you are in the rigs, they go straight into the structures to break you off. Your only chance is to put the boat in gear, hang on to the rod and try to yank them away from the kelp or structures before you lose it. Once you are in deeper water away from the structure, you have a fighting chance. They will leave you breathless during the fight so you have to keep reminding yourself to breath calmly when the adrenaline is pumping.
Absolutely, I was kind of wondering if they were going to do the light trick to try to carefully inspect the thin slices they cut for themselves and it looks like they didn't. Freezing is best, but careful inspection should be enough to allow for a quick bit on the water like that.
Really enjoyed watching this video, awesome footage and nice fish. Thx for having everyone on the boat with you guys....great stuff!
Fisherman’s Life! Hell yeah man, amazing content as always. Your catch and cook videos are some of the best I’ve ever seen!
Oh hell ya! Fish on! There was a reason I couldn’t sleep.
I really like the early uploads really gives the video a different vibe when your watching just as u wake up
What an exciting video! I couldn’t take my eyes away from my t.v. Thank you for the time spent making this. I love longer videos like this one. Nice catch! Do it again Matts, do it again!!!
Sick battles all the way through. Love when the boys are pumped up after a team effort like that.
Turn off the clickers the seals hear that and know there is a fish on
That's a fact.
Annoying af
It also can just cause unnecessary ware and tare because clickers arent meant to be on the entire time
True. I have never had em steal yellowtail though just follow
@@jonathansonnier3078 they only steal the smaller ones

Matt: I ain't no sushi chef..

Awesome! Thanks for sharing Matts!!! Doesn't get any fresher.
dude I have never fished in my life, but I get SO excited when I see you uploaded! your personality is so chill and I just love how your videos are made
When you hit the yellowtail it was like you were having ur sweet revenge or relieving ur stress from not getting em😂😂😂like "Finally i got you"😂😂😂
To whomever reads this
You are amazing and blessed
And loved Dont ever forget that
Maybe the most Balls On! Fishing Video I've ever seen! You Guys did it all! Getting the boat, navigating to the 'Quatros Coronados', killing the Calicos....trial and error for YellowTail thru the torrent of arzehole sea lions and ? Priceless! Having fresh sashimi? On the boat? Brillliant
Great video...&, great to see my old coworker, Andrew, back on the boat & catching some Yellowtail! Gotta love the fast action down in Mexican waters! Aloha, Bill
EARLY BOIS - Here have some butter
Thanks for the butter man need it for my pancake
fuck yeah. nothing like some butter with my butter =D
Thanks I didn’t need it tho lol
Andrew is a man with a few words, that’s how I like my fishing partner, some people just blabbing nonstops.
Love watching the bro’s hook up yellows in front of the charter boats ! This was a dope action packed video !
Probably one of my favorite videos of yours. Love watching those good fights with the fish.
When fishing with 60lb line you can fish 20lbs of drag so the sea lions don’t get em.
pretty sure he was near max drag on both reels lmao
How does that work just curious how drag affects your hook up
TJAY WALLACEJR it affects how hard the hook gets set when the fish first strikes
Con Cos
I was thinking the same thing you can put serious pressure on 60#
Good to see you know basic maths bro even tho u can put way more then 20
@32:45 “use salt water or fresh?”
Matt-“don’t matter”
Yaw crazy eating sashimi after dipping it in the ocean water. 😂
Eh. Salt life brotha… adds flavor
This is the real come back vid. So intense.. its good to see you both andrews having fun
yesssss!!! loved watching this video it had me smiling the whole time. keep up the good work, tight lines!
You are uploading at 2am California time im just up the coast from San Diego in carlsbad i love it i live in paradise anyways im here to watch the fresh video upload, i love mexico fishing im definitely allowed on mexican soil/waters i have my passport
Isn't the border closed? Or do you mean you have a Mexican passport? My uncle said you can get there, but coming back US border patrol will give you a bunch of shit and waste your time since we're not supposed to be crossing.
Where do you go fishing in Carlsbad I live in Carlsbad too and can’t find a spot
3 Yellowtail landed
0 high-fives landed 😂😂
Great video - what an adventure to enjoy. Keep up the hard work. Looking forward to the next video - love the catch and cooks - love seeing the trips down to San Diego 🐟🎣🐟🎣🐟🎣🐟🎣🐟🎣🐟
Awesome video! I caught myself clinching my hands while you guys were pulling up that first yellowtail. What a fight!
Does Andrew get sea sick ? I feel like he wasn’t fishing at all and just sitting down most of the time.
He had the patches behind his ear so I assume so
He does. He has a video or two where he shows himself puking from seasickness. He also addresses his seasickness in a few videos (hence the patch behind his ear). I think he said those patches are super strong and you have to get a doctors prescription to get those.
@J G Oh my bad, I didn't read carefully.
@J G Andrew is wearing a patch too tho
Maybe hes just a chilled out dude, looks like he had a good time to me!
The best way to catch yellowtail is reef/structure it is EXTREMELY hard to catch them on the troll. If u find a party boat pull up next to them and u will catch limits I do it on the weekly at the coronado islands
HYPE!!!!! Man my adrenaline was pumping with excitement for you guys! Hella hype you caught more than one! Awesome taking us through that journey as I hope to catch a Yellowtail and Bluefin Tuna in the future. Cheers!
you should make a video of the weird things you’ve encountered while fishing. My dad used to fish a lot back when he was younger and i know he has encountered mysterious things when fishing. Thank you, love your vids 😁
someone's got to teach that seal some manner.
Anyone else watching this at 2am

Soooo close to one million subscribers!! No one deserves it more, such an honest good guy, nice videos every time 🙂
"Chase him down" maybe one of your best videos ever, especially if you would have brought the seal to the boat, keep up the great job, top notch!
And when you use the surface iron. Don’t set the hook. Just wind through it. You miss a lot of fish that way
Boutta say... lmao
Hello, what is a good fishing polls for the ocean? I'm looking to start fishing more and idk any good polls
Calvin Thomas if ur shore fishing, and rod over 7foot if not really anything that fits ur budget
Calvin Thomas If your fishing from shore anything betwen 7ft -9ft will work fine and a 4000-5000 size reel. If your a beginner Daiwa, Penn and Shakespeare make some good combos for under $80, for beginner fisherman.
Ugly stick tiger #1 for the money. Nothing better
Robert Culpepper bought an ugly tiger stick when I was on vacation in Florida and it still works great 5 years later!
That was an exciting fishing video. Thanks for sharing your fun.
Awesome!! It's very nice to watch you on action again.

Damn, this episode was dramatic and fun as hell. Great job fellas!
before i start the video: *hopes he didnt yeet a fish*
by the end of the video: *notices that no fish were yeeted* 😳this is fisherman's life right?
Edited out the calico yeet today
I'm almost 50. My 12 year old daughter introduced me to yeet about a month ago. Here I witness it for the first time in Fisherman's Life comments.
Ho Lee Schidtt!
Fisherman’s life got so much patience I would of shot the damn seal😭
I would've emptied a clip on the damn seal. They f*cking piss me off
Fishermans life . I positively love your channel. You are the best. I’ve never done eel fishing or never tasted. It. I love all your fishing episodes im 74 years old been fishing all my life. In the north nj and ny for great species. Alaska California etc never been there im retired for 9 years thank GOD. You are great. I am still agile . Whenever you come here you have a place to stay.
It’s always amazing how that one fish changes your mood for the whole day. Awesome video 👍
Don’t understand why you don’t want any barracudas, it’s a good day for me if I ever get one 😅
Right? I remember going on charters and slaying them. I miss so cal fishing.
Touch a cuta and you’re hands will smell like one for a week
Cuda tacos are tasty.
7 views never been this early
You got me saying lets go in a low raspy voice 🤣 thanks for the video brother.
Hey man. These video's are awesome. I never do any saltwater fishing, but I'm hooked to your videos. Thanks for putting in the effort.
My daughter asked me "why isn't the man wearing a life jacket?"
Tell her mind yo damn business!!
he doesnt have to technically have it on, just on the boat.
I don’t believe a seal took any of ur fish they just fight like yellowfin and u simply pulled the hook on a few which happens to everyone
Sea Break19 fr
I had to give this a 2nd watch!!
I loved the story it is a great video thanks for having this passion and sharing it with your RUclips family.
Your vids are a real inspiration dude! I hope to be as experienced and equipped as you are one day lol. Keep on anglin!
My god pleaaaaaaaae turn off the clickers, and don’t set the hook with the surface iron. Just reel and put the tip up.
Great video. My heart was pounding watching this !!
Trolling Rapala at Catalina is hands down my favorite fishing. You guys are doing it right.
Made my morning 10x better, thanks for the awesome concept
Man life's been rough lately, but this video made me smile. Good fun and nice catches.
You didn't get sick...
That fishing looks hella fun..
Fish on..🤙🏽😎
Some awesome fishing action right there man. great control of the camera from Andrew.
Action packed like always! Fisherman’s life 👊🏾
Omg! You had me on needles and pins. Awesome video, great job
Great episode. Going fishing tomorrow so watching this makes me more excited.
Ooh hell yea”... that was intense. Nice work you two!
Been missing you big man, so glad your back!
Man that's the best spot! I remember the first time I went to the Catalina Islands on the Daily Double with Boogie Shears and Milford Shears. Boogie is my uncle and Milford my grandfather. Great Yellowfin and Bigeye Tuna, if ya some chum. The first fish I caught that morning, or anyone one else on the boat, was just outside of the baiting station in San Diego. The first two hooked snapped the line, just to find out that it was Barracuda I was hooking and the teeth are so sharp that they just cut through the mono like butter. But the third hooked I managed to get on deck. That cuda almost took the boat pot, shy by 16 oz. Had to cut the fillets three times to get them in the frying pan, lol! That day has to still be one of the most memorable days I ever spent with my grandfather before he past. RIP Milford DeeDee Shears.
Ayyy! Awesome to see you come down and fish so cal. Love the videos and even better to see you guys figure out the fishery first hand with only a couple trips to the islands. Just a quick note, it is a violation to filet fish in Mexican waters under a Mexican fishing license aboard the vessel in which it was caught. So maybe just make that hamachi closer to home 👍🏼 hope to see you down here more often, if you would like to go out for some tuna this season, let me know. We can take my rig out. Tight lines!
Great video Matt! Way to battle the seals. Btw, the yellowtail you ate would be way different than those you eat at a reputable sushi restaurant. The "Hamachi" they serve are yellowtail caught in the deep waters of the western Pacific Ocean. They have a much higher fat content so are more buttery and tender than yellowtail caught in our local waters. It's like the difference between an A5 Wagyu steak and a USDA Choice steak.
OMG. One of the best trips to watch! I miss that island.
That Seal was coming in for the swoop!! Good eye pointing it out. Looks like mid moment y’all didn’t even notice hahahaha
I've lost fish to the "furbags" in the past, pesky critters. But seeing you try to avoid them makes me realize they add another layer of excitement to the fishing. Yeah, you'll end up paying some taxes to them but it's all part of the experience. Love the content, can't wait for the next video.
How did I miss this? My new favorite! Good shit, fellas!
I have seen my fair share of fishing video's and I have to say, this is the most exciting one to date! Watching that seal coming for you yellowtail you got :O Then I almost jumped off the couch, like I actually shifted my weight and put my arms out when I saw the rod go down the next time :) The frustrating parts like keeping the motor on and going straight while not even reeling in the other pole, I was like, neutral! Neutral! Reel in that other pole! What are you doing?!? So much fun. Anyway, Thank You for sharing!
Thanks for the amazing content 😀
Beautiful man! So much action!
one of the best fishing RUclipsr!! keep in coming.
super exciting!!! Grats on the catch!!!
