I really like that you refuse to lift another Ram until you fix this problem and are sure it’s fixed. It speaks volumes about your commitment to your reputation and your customers
Thanks for your comment. That's pretty much our operating procedure. We only sell and install products that we use on our own personal vehicles... and then we test the hell out of it to make sure it'll stand-up to some serious adventuring. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
I had that EXACT same problem with the diff when my truck was 2 months old! (February of 2020). Broke in the exact same spot from the exact same scenario - reversing up a hill and small rock. Truck had 4000 miles on it and it was my first time taking it off road. I had the BDS lift also but I didn’t realize you had to sign up for the factory protection plus warranty. And I thought it was a Ram issue not BDS so I didn’t even look into it 😩 BDS sent me a replacement bracket that got bent, but I was on the line for a full differential, both CVs, and a driveshaft because it bent everything when the diff fell. $5000 repair bill on a 2 month old truck and Huntington Beach CDJR and Chrysler corporate basically told me to F off since the truck was lifted. They wouldn’t cover a dime. It’s nice to hear BDS backs up their products but man I wish I would’ve known sooner haha. Everybody always thought it was crazy that my diff broke doing something SO minor, so it’s great seeing someone else run into the same problem and that it was caused by the same scenario. Guess lesson learned, don’t reverse in 4x4 in Rams. Period! If you ever produce that product to protect the diff PLEASE let me know because I’ll grab one immediately! Thanks for the awesome vids and full transparency! It’s great seeing another sweet Ram on 37s like my own haha
Ummmmm... do you sell that bracket? That same thing happened to my 2015 Ram 1500. I now have a 2019 with a Zone 4 inch kit. Id like to secure it before that happens.
did BDS also cover $$$ the differential??? I have a the same 6" lift setup, (smart cap instead of GF camper), only that my front left axle shaft popped out in Moab a few weeks ago! I love my RAM though 😀
BDS sent us all new components for the front differential, including hardware. As for the OE parts, like the differential and CVs we had to replace, that is where their Factory Protection Plus insurance comes into play. You get paid out separately for the OE parts. It's a good deal. Just make sure you sign up for the Factory Protection Plus right away when you get your BDS kit installed such that you're covered incase something happens in the future. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Ginger got a little spicy, eh? Trying to keep up to TSTN might not have helped. Good to see you made it home instead of trailering it from Idaho like someone else you know!
I love the full-size rig content. If that’s a known weak spot and you were going to lift it and thrash it, I’m curious why you wouldn’t go with the 2500 gasser? Several years ago I was looking for a new truck, went with a f250 that was 5k cheaper than the 150’s. After 7 years of wheelin and daily driving I haven’t regretted the massive frame and suspension upgrades.
The Ginger is always spicy! There's so many RAM1500s everywhere as it's a popular truck for families and offers great versatility. Our thought was... can you actually off-road these trucks and take them everywhere a Jeep can go? And the answer has been hell yes you can. However, being wider than a Jeep, you're going to get the body scratched quite bad (ours is nasty bad). The lack of front-end flex is the main limiting factor, but it can be overcome with ground clearance and getting used to 3-wheeling in some situations. Our next RAM will most likely be a 2500 Rebel or a Power Wagon... we'll see. In the meantime, we have many more adventures planned for this truck and a few new mods like a fully-custom rear bumper. The Ginger has already cut off huge sections of the bed lol. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Good root cause analysis. Nice to see the forward thinking. As an Engineer in manufacturing, I'm curious if there were other design factors maybe not obvious to the eye, but the bracket solution is a well thought safeguard and future EPIC product. Lol. Nice! Oh, and judging from that close out video footage, you might need the guy who did that for you to maybe start up his own youtube channel and maybe call it something like TSTN🤣 Those closing shots were EPIC!!!
The White Jeep is Chef Maury's 2019 JL Rubicon. It's riding on our typical Teraflex 3.5" lift, front drop brackets, Falcon 3.3s and 37"s tires. A setup like that will take you anywhere you want to go.... and Maury has been everywhere ;-) Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Do you or the fabricator plan on making more of those brackets? I have a ram 1500 i just rebuild my front passenger side and was curious about that hanger. I would like to have one myself
So far we're golden. The main thing to know is that our custom bracket is mainly there to hold the differential in place, incase it does break, such that the diff doesn't fall out of the truck ;-) We're sure it does add some strength overall, but that's not the main purpose. We've pushed our RAM all over the place the past 8 weeks to some of British Columbia's remote places and it's held up. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
@@EPIC-4WD That's good to know. I have a Ram 1500 that I use on my farm. I'm not doing crazy offroad trails like you, but there is some rough terrain in the fields. I'll make sure to keep an eye on my front diff, just in case. Thanks for the video. It's really cool seeing a Ram being used for overland/offroading along side the Jeeps.
At the moment no. We are only selling the brackets direct to our customers who come to us for a BDS suspension package on their late model RAM 1500 / Rebel. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
I love the ram rebel BUT this is why I own a 3rd Gen TRD Tacoma off road 4x4 zero issues and beat the hell out of it in the Arizona desert all year long never quits ……
I think we'll keep the IFS lol. Next up will be a RAM 2500. There's so many RAM1500s everywhere as it's a popular truck for families and offers great versatility. Our thought was... can you actually off-road these trucks and take them everywhere a Jeep can go? And the answer has been hell yes you can. Yeah, we're not Ford people sorry. However a Raptor or the TRX isn't really suited for what we do and/or build. They are more focused towards the street or ripping across Johnson Valley in CA. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Sadly untrue. We build RAM 1500s every week and they almost all break even on-road without any abuse or weight. It happens to stock trucks constantly as well, as we see with our dealership friends. There's a reason that you can't get a front differential replacement for a RAM1500 right now as they are all backordered lol. That being said, all RAM1500s we do now get this bracket and some additional strength welding not shown in this video...and knock on wood, the fixes are holding ;-)
Does the TRX have the same poor design? The design down here is certainly inferior to what Ford uses. I have not seen a current GM truck up close for comparison.

Are you guys planning on producing/selling those brackets?
Thanks
I really hope you guys sell the Dif brace on its own some day! Good luck with your R&D
way to get it home boys! hope the new bracket works out! looking forward to the results
The bracket is holding up quite fine. We have installed it in a few adventure RAMs with good results. Cheers sir!
Can I purchase one of these brackets?

I guess I'm not the only one who likes smashing diffs
You crazy diff smasher you... ;-) Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Wow. Makes me glad I have those massive HD solid axles on my Ram Power Wagon. Awesome you made a bracket to fix the issue.
Is your fix for Ram front diff mount available for sale?

Full-Size can be way stronger that any Jeep. The older the better and there way easier to work.

Do you still have Khan or did you get rid of it for the Ram?

I have an EPIC er sorry I meant Anemic Subaru 🤣🤣 at least it has a 2.5/3" lift now ;)
Break it,,, fix it while making it stronger,,
You betcha. That's our process! Cheers King from the team at EPIC! Hope you're doing well.
so has your bracket solved the problem in your testing? Any other weak points you've since discovered?
the weakest point: is the nut holding the wheel 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Man that’s disappointing that Ram designed such a weak diff. Is the TRX the same?
Are you both from Detroit?
You need a raptor
Yeah, we're not Ford people sorry. However a Raptor or the TRX isn't really suited for what we do and/or build. They are more focused towards the street or ripping across Johnson Valley in CA. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Shoulda bought a belltech lift 😂
The gingers idea of restoration is taking something new and making look old.
This is less likely to happen if you don’t have a RAM that’s loaded up with all that extra weight.
Sadly untrue. We build RAM 1500s every week and they almost all break even on-road without any abuse or weight. It happens to stock trucks constantly as well, as we see with our dealership friends. Ha Ha... it's so hard for us Canadians to use Freedom increments. We'll try harder next time! Thanks for watching and cheers from the team at EPIC!
Dress like that in Detroit and you might not make it out..
