Great insight! I’ve had mine for a few months and I absolutely LOVE it. It has bricked on me a couple times, but I use it for personal uses, not work… so it really doesn’t bother me in the grand scheme. I’ve heard that having a good, fast memory card could fix the issue… I haven’t explored that option yet.
It's wild that people really think just switching an A7Rv into manual mode is going to make it anything like the M system. That comment tells me immediately that this person has never touched or seen a M body in person. It's like someone on a motorcycle pulling up beside someone on a bike going "aye, put a motor on that and you'll get home faster." Ok, but I want to actually do this myself and I have great reasons for that? If a camera operates how we want and feels great to use... we use it? If it's Sony, great! If it's Leica, also great! Cell phone? Go for it! Some people just can't see beyond themselves. Personally, I'm way back on the M240. I don't need anything the newer bodies offer, but I appreciate the direction Leica is going.
I get where they are coming from though, it’s not easy justifying a Leica. Unfortunately, the only justification is that we want one 🤣🤣… the m240 is an awesome camera mate…
In 1991 I started with Pentax. In 2004 I switched to Canon. In 2013 I switched to Sony. In 2022 I switched to Leica. I have loved every one of those camera systems. I have never cared what other people opinions on what I should choose to shoot with. In the end we all do things for our reasons. Some seek status. Others want fit and feel. Or AF or the best and newest tech. For me, I went with Leica because i missed feeling like a computer was doing all my work. I had not used manual focus since 2003 and I have to admit I absolutely love it. I feel as I get older and clearly this is something i love doing I want to feel a bit more in control of the process. The feeling is risking the manual focus. I did not find using focus peeking on the Sony enjoyable. I love the Pentax but I wont go back to film. This just felt like a fun adventure to take.
That’s an amazing camera journey.. I use multiple systems currently and each one has its own purpose, even film photography requests are on the rise. At the end of the day, use anything that you enjoy.. thank you for stopping by 🙏🙏
Unfortunately, a majority of opinions formed these days are based on what they’ve read on the internet and not something that people have had hands on experience with
Hi, DNG files from the q3 definitely has more contrast compared to the m11 but it might have something to do with the lens. The quality of the DNG is the same. Hope this helped, thank you for stopping by.
How did you manage to remove the magenta cast? I messed with white balance to the point it drove me crazy. The picture would look more balanced, but then the shadows would look off. I really dont move into the color channels unless it needs a pop of a color, but working with the M11 WB I found myself spending more time in editing. How'd you manage?
Hey Robbie, nice video and thanks for sharing your insight. I currently have a M6 and Q2, although I'm thinking of trading in my Q2 for a M11. Besides the point and shoot rain you mentioned for settling your Q3, what else did you consider before making your final decision about settling your Q3 for the M11? Thanks!
I was in an odd position where I had the leica MP and a few lenses. Wanted to do content creation and I can’t really make 100 leica q3 videos. So I decided to trade in the Q3 for an m11. Haven’t looked back since. Ever since I used the m11, the experience of using a Q just falls flat to me. Feels like a computer and I don’t get inspired to shoot with a Q. But that is just me.
The Leica M11 must be truly impressive if it's making you consider selling the Sony A7R5! I'd love to get one myself someday. Thanks for the thoughtful video! Robbie 👍
Hahaha honestly, I can confidently say that I might sell it because I probably can borrow one quite easily if and when I need it. A7RV is still a monster of a camera. Actually, I’ll take it out on a spin next video and see how it feels shooting it after months on the leica.. thanks for stopping by..
Great video. To be honest, I feel the Leica M10/M10p is the sweet spot. Brass in both silver and black (as it should be, in my opinion), never had an issue with software. To me the 24mp sensor is plenty, but understand depending on use, some will need more. Keep up the good work, can’t wait for more videos!
I loved the photos that I got from the M10 and M10-R but the usb-c and better battery was something i could not get over. Yeah I had a friend pick up my silver m11 and he agreed that they should be brass. Thank you for stopping bye 🙏🙏
I love the idea that everyone hates Leica. i have been shooting with Leica cameras for 30+ years. First on the M3 which I still shoot on. Then I used the R8 and still have it as well. Now everything is digital. The M system the SL system. I no longer have my S camera, however did keep the lenses which I use on the SL3
Nice video and thanks for sharing your experience. I used to have the M11. I have experienced the same crashes and many other small issues. I had the black version and yes it did feel different/ cheap...it was light and I also wished it was made in brass. Long story short I sold the camera and now I'm using the M10 monochrome as a daily digital camera. Cheers from Montreal city ✌
Leica experience is overrated. You can get a similar experience with an analogue SLR or rangefinder. Those new to Leica using a digital rangefinder still use the back LCD to shoot....yeah experience lol😂
I did stress that leica is a luxury item towards the end of the video. I would prefer to drive a mercedes rather than a toyota if i can afford it. So how many leicas have you owned to rate the experience if I may ask?
There is always someone in the comments saying that you can get a better experience with X, Y or Z. Leica is a rangefinder so don’t get that comment above. The unobtrusive form factor of a Leica and zone focusing allows you to take pictures that an SLR would make harder on the basis of size. Photography is a broad church. Bring your judgement to the work, not the tool.
@@alxblk. i did ask for comments about why people hate leica shooters though 🤣🤣 but i get their point. I just hope that they would keep an open mind to try one for a period of time and not just rely on opinions on the internet. If they did and they hate it, fair play to them.
Definitely not overrated. I shot with an old EM at 12. I'm 44 now and I've used a lot of cameras and this definitely is a great experience. Now is it overpriced for a digital camera? Yes. Overpriced for a camera in general? Sure. But overrated is such a lazy comment.
Haha.. well, yeah. Buying a Leica then liveviewing is definitely a good way to make the Leica experience seem overrated. I can't imagine someone actually doing that but yeah.. they're probably out there 🤷
may I ask which lenses did you use for the photos you showed in your video? good work
I don’t remember but most of them must have been either the light lens lab 35mm 8e or the 50mm f1.2 1966..
Thank you so much. I appreciate it

Robbie, great video! How do you like the manual focus only aspect with this camera?
It was certainly a challenge but I got used to it quite quickly. Fun thing is, I prefer manual focus over bad autofocus..
Thank you for watching
Thanks Robbie!

The R5 is also sitting on the shelf for me. Kinda crazy because it's a great camera, but it's also a braindead experience.
Guess i'm not the only Bob interested in the M11. Thanks for the review Robbie! From Robie.
Thank you so much Robbie!! Regards, Robbie
Nice review, Robbie! Really interesting to hear your perspective, insightful stuff 🔥
Thank you so much.. Really appreciate you stopping by
You mentioned the brass under silver. Is the MP the same way where the silver is heavier since it’s brass?
Nope, the MP is all brass regardless of colour.
If you happen to be talking about the M11-P (and not the film camera), the same silver brass/black not-brass is true.
Oh I was talking about the MP film camera. Oops..
@@robbiesumantri they may have been as well, just wanted to throw that in there in case they were thinking about the m11p!
Hope they don’t get rid of brass entirely in future cameras

Amazing. Yeah I feel that it’s trendy to hate Leica. It’s a shame that the dislike is very often rooted in perceptions rather than informed opinions.

Thank you sir!

Magnesium alloy is just lighter than brass, lightness does not mean something is inherently cheap lmao
No it doesn’t but it does certainly feel like so and I’m not the only one saying that it feels off..
Weight doesn’t allways equate to better build quality
I’m sure the aluminium version is also very well built. But the weightier brass makes it feel a bit more premium in the hands
