I am in love with the La Jolla and I'm Sorry Borris combo. They are a perfect pair to listen to together. La Jolla being about wanting to leave, and I'm Sorry Borris being about finally leaving. and the "move me" lines. ugh its just *chefs kiss*
Wilbur actually has a couple songs mocking Bojo (Boris Johnson), Lovejoy's song Model Buses actually is about the same thing which is about Wilbur mocking him for trying to seem relatable to the 'general public'. For Losing Face, Wilbur actually originally wrote the demo drunk (which was quite different and definitely more emotional) about his ex girlfriend who left him and wanted to just stay friends with him - almost rubbing it in his face that she's moved on and he hasn't. Showing that the more you scrape against something the quicker it will almost disintegrate into something completely unrecognisable. La Jolla (Pronounced La Hoya (sorry I really needed to correct you on that)) is about Wilbur feeling that he isn't good for anyone and just wanting to run away from the world and start a life somewhere more desirable and how he could do it in one night and how he felt that no one on the Earth would notice - not even his loved ones . As always, can't wait for more reactions :)))
telling the legendary story again and again of how wilbur was so hammered while writing "losing face" that in the first draft of the song he sings "is he good enough to be your wife" instead of "are you good enough to be his wife" the "your city gave me asthma" album is truly a vibe and centered pretty much around london and that one girl emilia wilbur went on a trip around europe with you can gave that bit of lore for free ;) /lh
I adore the ending of Losing Face, the whole song is like being stuck in bitterness and anger, but after you get all that out and you remember you loved them, and just hope they're happier now
if you haven't considered it yet, I really recommend you to listen to James Marriott, especially his album Bitter Tongues, It's a personal favourite :)
My favorite some bye Willbur (not including Lovejoy) is saline solution, and jubilee line.(don’t know if you have done a video on those yet but there the best)
you should listen to my favorite band Bears in Trees!!! theyre not as popular but theyre very similar to lovejoy and cvetown and i think you would enjoy them a lot
Btw new Lovejoy album comes this Friday, definitely check that out after the existing stuff. Also: maybe i was boring is a compilation of pieces that were cut from YCGMA so similar minimalist style but with less production generally, still has some bangers like white wine in a weatherspoons (a British convince store) and it's all futile; it's all pointless!

and now in the new album he says "You said you'd figured out what can move me, darling, i figured that out too late"

Here's a fun fact about La Jolla, the phone audio at the end is continued at the beginning. The song loops infinitely.
I adore the ending of Losing Face, the whole song is like being stuck in bitterness and anger, but after you get all that out and you remember you loved them, and just hope they're happier now
Losing Face is ultimate fave from the EP. I relate to it a lot and so it gives me the feeling of anger, regret, and withdrawal from my loved ones. 😢
I do recommend listening to the cover lovejoy did of 'spiral owned galaxy' and ofc the rest of wilburs songs
its 'privately owned spiral galaxy' sorry just realised
@@paigehudson7746agreed! I really like his cover!
im sorry boris is such a good song, thats one of the songs that really brought me into his songwriting and its so underrated
Your city gave me asthma is such a good album istg one of my fav ones
I'm sorry Boris is my favourite song off the ep, I don't have anything insightful to say about but god, it's beautiful
Its referring boris as its an Ode to living in London and how miserable it was
So you must listen to Coronado and taunt both are amazing honestly you need to hear his acoustic stuff as well btw he does cover house of gold
You need to listen to Losing face demo it shows sm emotion and it sounds more powerful i personally love it more then the published one
I love watching these videos because it gives the same feeling as showing someone the music you like and them enjoying
For those curious the Boris Wilbur was referring to was the prime minister of London at that time.
i love this ep so much but i’m just glad will is doing so much better now haha
Please listen to “screensaver” and some more of his comedic songs like “Karen please come back”

There’s a demo version of losing face that in my opinion is better than the original, you should listen to that
i love these songs so much thanks for reacting

Weatherspoons is a pub
Thank you for still reacting to Will's music
just keep going at this point, jump down the rabbit hole
I forget- is 'Your sister was right' in YCGMA or MIWB?
YCGMA
the "J" is pronounced like an H, and the "LL" like a Y, because "La Jolla" is Spanish. it's like "HOY-ah".
LISTEN TO THE ROYSTON CLUB PLEASE OR THE FRONT BOTTOMS
