these are both such pretty songs. saline solution is about wilburs struggle with hypochondria. a couple of years ago he actually said that it’s the one song on the album that he still relates to as the others he feels like he’s a different person now. my favourite song on ycgma is losing face. there’s also a video on youtube of when he first wrote and sang the song when he was sad and drunk. great reaction, you should definitely listen to more of the album!!
I’m glad u like his music . Wilbur says that it’s the fans own Album and we can interpret it our own ways but he has said what he wrote them about, since I saw veiana is him traveling with his ex and not being able to live at one place for long and settle down. Saline solution is about hypochondria which is health anxiety and constantly thinking your sick and thinking your dying the second you get slightly Ill. The whole album is about wanting too leave London too he said
i love your reactions! wilbur has a 10 minute “song” called maybe i was boring. it’s a mix of multiple songs and it’s really cool because one of the parts is called “it’s all futile it’s all pointless” which was redone in lovejoys album! so it’s really cool to show how a song can change meaning by time and new sounds!
If I may make a recommendation, I'd like to say you should check out both "It's All Futile! It's All Pointless!" by Wilbur and It's All Futile! It's All Pointless!" By Lovejoy, back to back, since Lovejoy's cover feels way different from the original, and it's a total vibe change. Or, alternatively, the entire of "Maybe I Was Boring" Is a very good EP, and I'm personally a big fan of White Wine in a Wetherspoons
"the internet ruined me" a Wilbur single, "it's all futile it's all pointless" by lovejoy and "the fall" are a MUST, I plead with you. Seriously, those three drive me insane with adoration.
I wish I could listen to every single one of wilburs songs and covers for the first time again. His music is so beautiful and his voice is always so comforting, he’s such an amazing musician
I am actually so glad you've reacted to those two. "Saline Solution" is one of my, if not the most, favorite YCGMA songs. And "Since I Saw Vienna" is my joyfriend's favorite song, so I have a kinda strong connection to it, too! I really appreciate the beauty of those songs. They're just amazing. And I'm so happy you've heard them! That would be awesome if you finished listening to the entire album, OR If you want listen to something lighter the two songs you haven't heard from E-Girl trilogy and also "Soft Boy" are the best options. Also, I just love that someone appreciates Wilbur as a singer/song writer and not something else. Anyway, Have a nice day!
Since I Saw Vienna is about a real trip Wilbur and a girl took to Vienna. The vlog used to be uploaded to a different channel of his, but got taken down. You can literally see the bomber jacket and the bandage "slapped across" his face in the vlog. Sometimes it's crazy to be reminded that songs are about real people and the real things they went through.
saline solution is about Wilbur's struggle with hypochondria and guessing by the title saline solution (something commonly used to help clear the system of drugs during an overdose) and the mentioning of pharmaceutical pills in the lyrics leads most people to believe it's about overdosing due to his hypochondria but I don't believe that was ever confirmed whether or not that was true.
It's impressive when you find out Wilbur has only been playing guitar for a few years. When he recorded YCGMA i think that would have been around the 1st or 2nd year of him learning guitar
someone’s probably left a comment similar to this already, but for the most part, from my understanding, your city gave me asthma is about the city of london and his negative feelings towards it. this is pretty clear given that context especially in the song jubilee line and i’m sorry boris, with jubilee line being the name of the train line that leads out of london as well as the everything else about that song and i’m sorry boris being about some of the gentrification and general misuse of funding to build pubs instead of help the people and whatnot, which is largely why those two are some of my favorite songs from the album, as someone living in a state in the US that feels like it wants me dead more and more every day. that aside, i love your videos! thanks for reacting to your city have me asthma and love joy! you’ve got a really positive and genuine energy that made me feel happier just by proxy. i’m really glad you’ve enjoyed their music!
in since i saw vienna, it’s about a girl he had a crush on in sixth form (high school) who he got put into a group project with where she told him that she had a long term boyfriend. in saline solution, it’s about wilbur having hypochondria. loving the reactions mate :))
I'm so happy that you kept reacting to wilbur, I hope you listen the rest of the album or the rest of the e-girl trilogy for something more upbeat or the incel trilogy for comedy
And to know Wilbur self-taught himself guitar and now he’s here 🥹 Also I recommend you check out Los Campesinos! as they are a huge inspiration for Wilbur (in fact it’s his favorite artist and Lovejoy even did their own cover of their song Knee Deep at ATP)
Saline solution is one of my favorites as well as jubilee line you have to listen to his acoustic stuff it’s so beautiful his voice hits me the same way Tyler’s voice does and it’s amazing
Please listen to « Losing Face » it is definitely my favorite although all the songs from « Your City Gave Me Asthma » could be considered as my favorites
Saline Solution is definitely my favorite song not only in YCGMA, but in life. i relate to it in many different ways, and the lyrics spoke to me in a way i needed when i first found it and didn't know the actual meaning. i got a custom necklace with part of the lyrics from my big brother cause he knows how much it matters to me, even! i am so glad to see someone else enjoying this song and giving it the love it deserves, this song saved me;
Hi I've got a suggestion of who you could listen to next, James Marriott. Him and Lovejoy are good friends and I think you might like his music. And he's releasing new music next month:)
wilbur's "maybe i was boring" ep is amazing and similar to "your city gave me asthma"!! one of my favorite songs from that ep was covered by lovejoy in their pebblebrain album, "its all futile! its all pointless!". i think an interesting video would be to listen to the original and the lovejoy cover back to back!
i’m loving these reactions! i would love to see you do a video on The Royston Club! they’ve been a favorite of mine and i think they deserve so much more hype!
If you want to listen to some of the more comedy based songs from wilbur (like your new boyfriend) you should try Internet ruined me and I'm in love with an e-girl (they make a trilogy). And then some older ones like Karen, please come back I miss the kids and Nice guy ballad. I think you would love them and have a great laugh
Idk if anyone else has put this yet but this is a clip that basically explains the album as well as all are you alright and pebble brain ruclips.net/video/psI4jxrKR9Y/видео.html
Since I saw Vienna has always been my fav, followed by La Jolla but the whole album is wonderful and now for my obligatory Wilbur Soot and Lovejoy directory; *For anyone curious and wanting to check Wilbur and LoveJoy out;* Start with the "Are you Alright?" EP ( its just 4 songs) and then the Peeble Brain Ep (as much as i love the AYA? EP, I think they really hit a stride with Peeble Brain, specially when you hit The Fall), then LJ's solo songs, Knee deep cover and THEN Call me What you like Then maybe go onto Wilbur's solo stuff if you want a treat (Your City Gave Me Asthma Album, its arguably his best solo album, then Maybe I was boring EP, tho im not as big fan as it but its still not bad) Also Wilbur has a solo parody music series the "E-Girl" Trilogy. Its more memey with him portraying a "Nice Guy" during the songs but that doesn't mean they arnt amazingly made, Your New Boyfriend is a bop!
As far as im aware there isnt actually a bass in saline solution, the top to strings are down tuned and for the life of me i cant think of what too even though i used to love playing this song
Saline solution is based on his hypochondria!! He’s had it for most his life I’m pretty sure, but when he was writing ycgma right before quarantine he was experiencing it a lot more frequently.
You should listen to Glass Animals, their most popular song is Heatwaves but I wish that people outside of the fanbase would appreciate their other songs outside of the one that was all over the radio. I love their whole discography but their album How To Be A Human Being lives rent free in my head and I’m in love with all of the songs on it.
I would really reccommend you listen to NOAHFINNCE, he's a very cool musician and if you haven't heard him before, I definitely would love to hear your reactions and thoughts on his music! Some other reccomendations are Alec Benjamin, James Marriott, Conon Gray, Cavetown, Mad Tsai and they all do a variety of music! Definitely a sub from me :D
Saline solution is one of my favorite Wilbur songs and I love when people appreciate it the same way I do
And also with Since I Saw Vienna , don't get me wrong
SAME !!
I’m so happy for Wilbur and lovejoy honestly
@@SLEEPY.v Yess absolutely
Lovejoy and wilbur are getting talked about as artists and it makes me really happy
REAL !!
I’m so happy for the band and Wilbur :DD
They both have such underrated songs and I’m so happy they are getting recognition they deserve !!
SAME!!! I am literally so happy to hear that from people who have heard like barely any of their music and shii like bro it makes me feel so omgmgmg
Same here I’m so glad they deserve it so much

6:50 this part is a finger tapping technic. It's commonly used in indy and math rock music. It's tapping the strings on the fret with your right hand
We love Tapping here
since I saw vienna is my favorite song to play on guitar ever, and my favorite wilbur soot song :)
Loosing Face is probably my favourite from this album. Can't wait for you to check it out

7:04 it's a simple hammer-pull thing!! pretty easy but it sounds do fucking great!! i also love it
I am once again recommending Good Kid. They're really upbeat and just finished touring Europe with Lovejoy and they just released their 3rd EP.
You should listen to Los Campesinos, they’re the inspiration for Lovejoy. Their entire album Hold On Now Youngster is a personal favorite of mine
i love your reactions! wilbur has a 10 minute “song” called maybe i was boring. it’s a mix of multiple songs and it’s really cool because one of the parts is called “it’s all futile it’s all pointless” which was redone in lovejoys album! so it’s really cool to show how a song can change meaning by time and new sounds!
I love both versions of "It's All Futile! It's All Pointless!", they're so pretty and great
Maybe I Was Boring was supposed to be an EP, but for dome reason he uploaded all 4 as one song. From what I know, its an EP on bandcamp.
