- Mean Streak opened in 1991 as the tallest Wooden Coaster with the longest drop. It was one of the world's tallest, fastest, and longest wooden coasters. Mean Streak is a type of wooden coaster that you do not find very easily and there are not many left that are like it. On September 16th, Mean Streak gave it's final rides and a funeral service was held for the ride.
Wooden Coasters are typically a bumpy ride. That is what riding a classic wooden coaster is all about. Since Mean Streak has opened, the coaster industry has changed. Smooth steel coasters have become a very popular kind of ride along with GCI wooden coasters and RMC steel and wooden coasters (RMC is known for it's smooth coasters). People have become less fond of classics like Mean Streak due to the amount of smoother rides out there. As result of this, classic wooden coasters have been closing to make way for more comfortable attractions. One of the most popular is Iron Horse treatment. That is where RMC uses some of the wooden coaster structure to build a steel hybrid coaster. Could this be happening to Mean Streak? Could GCI be doing something with Mean Streak like they did with Ghostrider? Time will tell.

I rode this ride in 2015 on the frist day of the opening season with my ex girlfriend now I have known about this ride for years my family and older sisters always rode this ride . Now knowing about how much of a pain in the neck and headache just after this ride is I couldn't get it out of her head that I don't want to do this ride but I gave in to her and rode it just after we rode this ride she says wow the was a very rough ride as I'm laying on the blacktop flat on my back trying to get my back to stop hurting along with my neck. I'm glad they didn't tear it all down but the new track and run looks crazy. I wonder if it's still rough ride?

And they just keep insulting you over and over. I loved this ride. It's size and creeking made it feel unsafe and that's why it was so great. Wonder where all the trains went.
If I had known they were giving Mean Streak a funeral I would have attended. Not because it was my favorite ride in the world, but I have one where I seriously underestimated the height of the lift hill and it helped me conquer my fear of woodies.

Tony did an excellent job with this burial ceremony. I wasn't at the Richard Michael Crosby eulogy. It's nice to see this. I have video close-up of at the actual burial in Dead Rides Cemetery. You ain't alone dude. It may have been a bit rough but never enough to make me not want to ride again. This is my first time seeing this vid and it actually made me kinda sad cause I rode this for the first time at 7 years old in 2005 so it's part of my childhood and I'm gonna miss it. Still haven't been able to get back to Cedar Point since Steel Vengeance went up but I can't wait till I do. That'll ease the pain a bit I'm sure haha.
