My favorite way of marbling paper is using alcohol inks with shaving cream/ foam. Spray the shaving cream into a shallow glass (12x12 or 8x13). Add drops of ink and swirl with a toothpick/ popsicle stick, then slide paper into foam or just lay on top. Then pull out and using a spatula, scrape off foam. Awesome outcomes with every sheet.
I used to do this with reinkers and shaving cream. Take a pan and spray shaving cream in it to make about an inch to an inch and a half thick and drop a few drops of reinker fluid and swirl around. Put the paper face down on the cream and press gently. Pick up and scrape the cream off and let dry. Gives great results
Thank you so much Laurel, I really really enjoyed watching you experiment with your ink’s and nail polish. For me I’d use the nail polish every time. Great results. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
I love the colours of the alcohol inks but the best marbling effect by far I think is the last one where you swish the water around a bit. Thanks for the video.🥰
Well🤔... i do have alot of old nail polish i could dispose of in this manner.... Infectious disease lab here i come! ... your crafting is Infectious 🤣😂☺... in the best way of course!
I saw this technique with nail polish a while back on another channel, and I ran and grabbed my nail polishes (some over 20 years old!) and went to town! I think I used old school printer photo paper too. I didn't make any cards right away, so I put the panels in my stash. When I pulled them out, I did not like the smell of them! Maybe it was that some were 20 years old or the old photo paper or both! 🤣I recently did some purging, and threw out all those old polishes, but I am happy to know that alcohol inks actually turned out pretty cool on the regular cardstock, so thanks for that! It's a lot faster than actual alcohol ink blowing in a pinch! Can't wait to see the cards you make out these panels! 😁
This was awesome, Laurel! I just did this kind of technique with some friends on tiles using spray paint on water. I like your way even better (less fumes 😅).
Hi. I would definitely like to see what you did with all those marbled pieces. While the ordinary cardstock looks cool, you're right, the typo and nail polish ones are the coolest. Thank you for sharing this great video and have a great day.😊
Have to try with photopaper and fingernail polish. So superfun things to do with things you already have. Have you any tips and tricks with eyeshadows? Thank´s for this video.
I have tried this before. It looks fantastic. ❤❤I love it, but the smell of the polish lasts a little while. I really want to try the mug one, so I will watch that next. Can I ask, does it last a long time on the mugs?
Ihace to try this technique with nail polish. Question, have you tried using this technique with watercolor paper? Also, how did you get reg cardstock flat and how is the feel of it?
you could certainly use watercolor paper. I actually ironed my warped cardstock flat... Then it was back to normal. The Yupo was certainly the less finicky with this technique, but also the most expensive. LOL!
These were amazing (with the nail polish!) I love them all, but my most favourites were the two that you dipped at the same time and the last one. One question, what do you do with all the backgrounds you make? I am trying to follow your techniques and find I am accumulating quite a few, but am unsure o how to turn them into cards. Excuse me if you have already covered this in the past, but I am a new subscriber. Thank you for sharing your wonderful techniques! 👍💖
I have lots of videos up on how to create cards from backgrounds. Have a looksee around my channel. But I will taking these cards made on this video and turning them into cards for a future video! :)
Yupo is 100% plastic (no actual paper). I think it works pretty well with a tiny bit of ink or nail polish in the water, just a few drops and if you want, swirl it around with a plastic knife or popsicle stick or something.
WOW after THAT awesome Video, I’m a NEW Subbie! However I do have a question, WHERE do you get that special paper you mentioned & I couldn’t understand the actual name. I looked to see if I could order it through you but didn’t see it? Also, how does one flatten out the regular card stock paper after it’s dried, I noticed that the special paper didn’t ruffle up.. TYIA for your help.
Yupo Paper: amzn.to/3On13rQ I flattened the cardstock by putting heavy stuff on top of it overnight. You can also just iron it, just put a towel or something between the paper and the Iron.
Photo paper and nail polish worked for me. My colors were not the best to go together though, and I found that they had an old smell when they dried. (perhaps because they were both old!)
Im not sure but looks like there might be something wrong with your alcohol inks as they seem dried up, particularly on the second attempt, there are congealed blobs floating. This could account for the poorer results. But the nail polish way is fantastic so if it aint broke 💅🏻 simply gorgeous

Me to I tried shaving foam not gel and got beautiful results 🎉
Yup, shaving cream method works great. Also smells great!
Do you use alcohol inks or reinkers with the shaving cream? I’ve seen it with reinkers but never with alcohol ink.
@@harriettezmalloy7182 I feel that liquid watercolors work best (and are the cheapest option too).
yes yes, I have a video on this! :)
I've always loved marbling. I never knew you could do it with regular cardstock and nail polish. So cool! Thanks!
Infectious disease lab….laughing!! I like this!
Before watching: I bet I don't...
After watching: Oh, I do.😃
During watching: Great effects. Wonderful techniques as always, Laurel!
As usual...amazing idea from a "crazy" crafter and I say that lovingly! Thanks for another alternative to shaving cream!
Oh that is SO cool I love the marbling effect! Now I wish I would of kept all my old fingernail polish❣️
Yay, so cool! This is going very high on my “want to try this” list. Thanks👍
Wow Laurel. What a cool technique. I would love to see them made into cards. Thanks so much. 😊🇨🇦

I used to use liquid watercolors this way. Incredibly fun technique!!
Yes! I have done this and have a video up on this! :)

Just tried it with nail polish it came out great! Who knew!
Love that idea!❤

Awesome technique!
yes, please, make a video using these backgrounds!
That is amazing, they are awesome !!
Yes….. create cards with those panels…..please.😊
Got it!
As a newbie, I have yet to buy ink refills and you have just opened a whole new world of possibilities. Thank you so very much!
Can't wait to see what you do with the backgrounds! 😊
Yes you do need to swirl it. Grating chalk also works!
Well🤔... i do have alot of old nail polish i could dispose of in this manner....
Infectious disease lab here i come! ... your crafting is Infectious 🤣😂☺... in the best way of course!
hahahah!
That is so cool! Thanks for a great idea! I wonder if it will work on Christmas ornaments?

Ooo I have som metallic nail polish! I need to try this technique!
You should! That would look awesome.
This was awesome, Laurel!
I just did this kind of technique with some friends on tiles using spray paint on water. I like your way even better (less fumes 😅).
Beautiful card panels 🥰 I love your techniques and your color choices ❤️ thanks for sharing your creativity Hugs xx
The nail polish on the Yupo paper is great. Love them. I know you have done the marbling with the shaving cream as well. Great tutorial.

Also shaved chalk. Best one I’ve seen
Have to try with photopaper and fingernail polish. So superfun things to do with things you already have. Have you any tips and tricks with eyeshadows? Thank´s for this video.
I love the looks of this technique! Super cool🤗
Just love your channel and Your ideals. Showing how to and the results are amazing. Best way to tell, I can’t wait to try myself! Thank-you
Thanks so much 😊
I did it with the re inkers and shaving cream and a paper plate, comes out beautiful. Did not use any water.
I look forward to the video where you use these!
Love it! Can't wait to see the cards you make from these!
Thanks Laural 🥰this is fabulous !
LOL - infectious disease
I'd love to see the cards you make from these!
lol
The first two look like a galaxy or nebula. I haven't tried marbling - even with the shaving cream craze a while back. I might give these a go 🙂
Make the cards!!!
Can you use water color paper with this technique? Amazing technique.
Yes you can!
Yes, cards please :)
I will need to get some cool fingernail polish colors. I only have old lady colors! 🤣🤣🤣
haha, use them!
The alcohol ink artists are shaking their heads! 😊
🤣
I have tried this before. It looks fantastic. ❤❤I love it, but the smell of the polish lasts a little while. I really want to try the mug one, so I will watch that next. Can I ask, does it last a long time on the mugs?
Yes, just hand wash!
LOL!
Question please: where you buy the sticky mat for the Mitsi tool? I have seen it in a few of your videos.
ldli.co/e/1p2lyn1 - its called a stick and stamp mat!
You are so right…..infectious disease look. Use for a get well background.haha!
lolololol
Neato!!!
Laurel I don't use polish, so what kind of polish do you suggest... and could I get away with cheap ones
the polish i used here is from the dollar store! :)

I will check them out, thanks xx
I think I saw that a cheap way to use upo paper is to substitute posterboard
Yupo is 100% plastic (no actual paper). I think it works pretty well with a tiny bit of ink or nail polish in the water, just a few drops and if you want, swirl it around with a plastic knife or popsicle stick or something.
This is an awesome technique! BTW... is that a glass desktop?
Its just a glass board on top of my desk.
ldli.co/e/m5d1m0p - It is 15% off right now!
Does it matter what kind of fingernail polish (gel or regular)? Cool backgrounds!
I doubt it matters! But I know gel is more expensive and I'm cheap!

TYIA for your help.
Well I didn’t see your explanation to my question until AFTER I posted my question, sorry about that.
But I STILL have that last remaining? … ❤
Yupo Paper: amzn.to/3On13rQ
I flattened the cardstock by putting heavy stuff on top of it overnight. You can also just iron it, just put a towel or something between the paper and the Iron.
Do the ones with finger nail polish have that smell after they dry?
I didn't smell anything.
Thanks
Oh thank you so very much! How kind of you!
I visited Skillshare but couldn't locate the amount for the membership fee. Could you tell me what membership costs, pkease.
its 9.99 per month I believe but using the link in the description will get you a month or two for free.
Could you use photo paper? Ax
Yes!
You are supposed to swirl the colours to get the marbling effect :)
you can't swirl fingernail polish
running out now for nail polish 🙂
❤️❤️❤️
I'm wondering how photo paper would work?
probably great because its glossy!
❤❤❤❤❤
How about photo paper?
Photo paper and nail polish worked for me. My colors were not the best to go together though, and I found that they had an old smell when they dried. (perhaps because they were both old!)
Yes, that would work!
what's UPO paper?
Yupo. Specialty glossy paper.
Im not sure but looks like there might be something wrong with your alcohol inks as they seem dried up, particularly on the second attempt, there are congealed blobs floating. This could account for the poorer results. But the nail polish way is fantastic so if it aint broke 💅🏻 simply gorgeous
Lol. Could be, I don't know. I have had it forever.
What if you tried photo paper?
Yes because its glossy! Great idea!
Are you divorced? Hml
Uh no
That is amazing, they are awesome !!
❤❤
