Straight to the point, great video!!! I remember on last test you were mentioning, runing tests both with disabled vega gpu, and one runing trough vega output without disabling it? That would be a great idea to test performance or latency difference :))
Thanks :) What I said is that it's not necessary to turn the iGPU off. You should plug into the graphics card unless you primarily use it for computing.
Thank you very much for your video. Currently I have a r5700x with an RX 6750XT. My GPU probably won't handle the next few games at 1440p (2025-2026). So I was unsure whether I would need to upgrade just the GPU or the entire set (probably switching to am5). Thanks to your video, I now know that I just need to upgrade the GPU and a Power Supply that meets the energy demand. Thank you very much again.
Yes, I did. I didn't change voltage - simply enabled PBO in BIOS. I'm using a Noctua NH-U12A, which is overkill for this CPU, it was necessary for my 5900X.
would pairing a stock 5600g with a rx 6700 xt or an rtx 3070 cause any bottlenecks? if not which card would you suggest, is the 6700 xt better or the 3070?
The 6700 XT is similar to the RTX 3070 (slower in RT), and I'd prefer the AMD card (cheaper, more VRAM). I think the 5600G and 6700 XT are an excellent pairing.
I'm using 3050 with 5600g, really want to upgrade. I was thinking about options like 7800XT or RTX 4070 or rx 6700XT. Which one you think i should buy? And i have b450 mobo, is this going to be any problem?
The best for you would be selling your current CPU and GPU and buy 7800 xt and 5700x3d if u can. 5600g=5500 because of integrated graphics 5700x3d is the best CPU fps/dollar on am4 platform. 7800 xt>4070. Cost less, better raw power. Don't forget to upgrade your PSU if you don't have 650-700 watt psu.
Yes, but if you don't already have the 8700G, then get a 7600 instead, or wait a few weeks until the 9000 series releases and prices adjust on current gen CPUs.
People buying RTX 4070, RX 7800 XT or higher end GPUs most probably are going for 1440p gaming anyway. Nice to know the 5600g is still holding up and can still be good with mid to higher end graphics cards. Especially at 1440p and higher. In my third rig I have an R5 5500GT. It's basically a newer version of the 5600G. It has lower baseclock vs the 5600G, but same boost clock. So should perform the same in games. Reason I went for the 5500GT was because I also went for an Asus Tuf gaming A520m-plus wifi. So I was limited to pcie 3 anyway. I wanted a cheap third rig and also wanted the APU in case I wanted to sell the dGPU. Had planned to use this rig for multimedia/living room, around the house/casual stuff type of things. But nice to know I can pair it with a nice GPU. Right now it has an old GTX 1070 in it. I also put all my old 240 to 256GB Sata SSDs in it. To make use of them. Nice little rig. One thing to watch out for when limited to pcie3 is the graphics cards that are limited to x8 lanes. Like RTX 4060/RX 7600, but from tests I've seen this is not really a huge problem on these mid tier cards. Oh, btw, saw a video of the AM5 R5 7600x that also bottlenecked in Cyberpunk 2077 using high crowd density. So it's not the 5600g being to weak in itself, it's the core count creating this specific bottleneck. So maybe something to think about for all the people running out and buying AM5 7500f, 7600 and 7600x. Thanks for the video
8 Lanes is not that big of a deal, there are only a few games that make heavy use of the PCIe bus (Doom Eternal, Cyberpunk 2077). The 5600G is pretty much on the level of the PS5/Xbox Series X CPUs. (It is better in single core performance).
I have 5600G paired with my 6750 XT, is there any point upgrading to 5700x3D? (looking to upgrade to 7800 XT next year) Would it make more sense to save for AM5? I'm playing in 1440p btw.
I paired my r5 5600g with rtx 4060 i have 100% gpu usage it works perfectly , before that i had used pcbuild to calcule my bottleneck on 1080p i found that 12% bottleneck .. i knew that these calculators are inaccurate
I currently have a 3060Ti paired with 5600G. I play on an ultrawide 1440p 165hz monitor and I'm looking to upgrade to either a 7800 XT or 7900 XT. Which one would you recommend? I am aware I also need to buy a new PSU 750 - 850w. Keep up the good work!
I may recommend you go for a CPU upgrade and the 7800 XT (you can still sell the 5600G for decent money and if you can snag a 5800X3D that will last you a couple of years for sure). The 5600G is good enough to drive PS5/Series X frame rates in new games, but if you want to push higher framerates in newer games the 5800X3D + 7800 XT combo is going to do you better than 7900 XT + 5600G. I have a 7900 XTX in my own rig and I noticed the upgrade from a 11900 to a 7800X3D in some games, in other games there was no, or little, difference. The 7800 XT + 5800X3D is definitely more "balanced" for a PC build, but the 7900 XT path will give you better graphics in games where you don't need as much CPU power. Hope that helps :)
@@reto FYI I bought a 7800XT yesterday with a 850w corsair PSU. Will see how I get on with the 5600G before looking to upgrade. Thanks again for your insightful comments

It depends on the specific power supply; even a 750W unit can be fine. I don't have that 7900 XTX anymore but I have another one in my workstation with an R7 7800 X3D and an ARC A770 for a second GPU on a 1000W unit. I use my 7900 XTX mostly at 320W rarely at 350W. The A770 can draw like 250W max but usually more like 180W for what I'm using it.
