Just an update on this TV - it has now been two years since this repair and it has become our main living room TV, used everyday for quite a few hours typically. I have the backlight intensity set to about 60%. It is still performing perfectly! 😊😊
Good luck BS. It's time consuming but pretty straight forward 👍 Remember to check the LED backlight intensity setting when you are going again - they shouldn't be set at 100%
Seriously you have the patience of a saint brother .. I have much respect for you .. thank you for tour videos.. I’ve scrapped a lot of those with I would of saved those led stripes then I could of sent those to ya plus the jar of screws I’ve been saving for ya because I would love to see that jar on your self at your shop .. 👊🏻
Following your video to the T, I am stuck at the part where you took the mainframe off while leaving the LCD on the towel. I have the small screws on the side removed, but I think you mentioned something about clips getting attached/reattached, do you remember how you got the darn mainframe off to the red makeshift table?
Insert some thin cards between the metal and plastic clips. Like playing cards or old bank cards. Then lift the chassis out of the frame one corner at a time. 2 persons are recommended fir this part.
I have a LG 55up7000pua. I opened up the tv and lifted up the screen just a tiny bit to properly adjust the white sheet. It wasn't tucked in properly I got the TV for free so I don't know how it got like that. So when I put the TV back together the screen dims on and off. The screen don't completely turn off just dims a little. Any solutions? I must have done something that made it like that because it worked perfectly fine. Any solutions?
@TheUltimateRecycler well I took it apart down to the backlight and all the backlights and plugged it in and the backlights didn't dim off and on. So I put it all back together and noticed in the bottom of the screen their is a small chip missing in the bottom right corner so I think it's the screen itself dimming off and on. I think it was worked on before me because the first white sheet under the screen the tabs on the sheet itself on the top were broken. So I'm not sure if it was me who chipped the screen or it was whoever worked on it before me. Anyways I'm thinking that could be the reason for the issue like I said it was working before I got it .Do u think so as well? Thank u for ur reply I do appreciate that and any advice from what I just discovered. if I can't get the issue fixed can u please send me a link on where I can buy a new screen if u can find one I have been looking for but with no luck.
Would have been nice if you had shown installing a row. Is it better to put the A side down first then connect the b... or to connect them then lay them down???
Sorry Kevin! This was over 3 years ago - I was still working out what to film or not! I think I placed the strips down and then connected them afterwards. Thanks for watching 😊👍
@@TheUltimateRecycler I fixed 1 of two sets. Cracked the screen or it was already cracked on re-assembling one. Too bad it was a really nice set, but I did fix a good one that is working well. Thanks.
I have just been gifted the exact same TV with the same fault. My plan is to replace only the faultyLEDs . I am also close to Melbourne. I think it’s a common fault with this model. My plan is go to Jaycar today.
Good luck with it mate! Yes, just replacing the faulty LEDs should work 👍 Remember to check the LED brightness in the TV settings once you are done - If they are at 100%, they are indeed prone to burning out! This TV is our main loungeroom unit now and still working perfectly after almost 6 months daily use. I think I have the LEDs at about 70%. Let me know how you go! 😊
It's e-waste day. I paraded the line with the car idling for an hour for our free drop off. Got rid of 3 totes of boards. Didn't (couldn't) have to get out of the car as friendly men in safety vests took stuff. It hurt to see all the flat screens heaped into skid sized boxes. Hurry hurry keep the line moving. Never been any picking allowed as insurance liability kills all recycling efforts. So sad! The curb is the only place to pick these screens up. By then they are always cracked though they make great daylight "skylight" panels.
It is such a shame that liability issues put an end to so much easy repair work (and sometimes no fixing is even required!). Too much goes to landfill unnecessarily!!
My 65 inch 3D LG TV having edge leaking light and right hand top corner having black shadow due to led back light dead, the LG service technician told me need to order a new 65 inch screen to replace it which is difficult to find. And my screen some times have blinking problem when the screen turns black still has sound, due to power voltage control part malfunction. So bad the LG quality! LG life is garbage!

Those back lights will last a very very long time at 60 % ......
Thank you here at home they think everything is easy your video will show them the reality 1:50 thats what Im getting
I've had this same tv for probably 10 years now and it just started doing the same thing. The repair looks easy enough, thanks for sharing.

Your shop looks very neat & tidy just as it was in this video - the carpet will be a plus for sure, comfort wise.
This video was filmed at home in my workshop - not at the shop. Both places are way more cluttered these days! 🤣🤣
You're amazing. I wish I had the nowse to be this resourceful and effectual.
It's a matter of research and determination Tomás! Thanks for your comment 😊
Just incredible! Thank you. Good save!
Thanks Marcia - it's very satisfying saving these things! 😊

Thank you so much 😀
The LED diodes are 3535 6V with larger cathode (-) and smaller anode (+). Could be 1W or 2W, can't say.
Thanks for the info mate 😊
What a great save mate, not bad for a few hours and 50 bux.
Thanks Mitchell - it's now our main TV at home! Sold the old one and this one is great! 👍😊

Sorry I'm a bit late with this reply! Hope you managed to work it out.. yeah, little plastic clips all the way around the housing from memory.

@@Simion_T Thanks for that - good advice! 👍😊
What is the part number for the LED lights?
I don't remember puternash, but all I did was to search ebay for the TV model number and found the suitable backlights 👍

There's virtually no scrap value in these things unfortunately!
