  • Regula Chronicles: New Zealand passport, 2016
This August #RegulaChronicles is traveling to New Zealand to explore their latest biometric passport issued in 2016.
The first distinguishable feature of this passport can be spotted from afar as the cover of the document displays a silver fern-tree, which is endemic to New Zealand and has been recognized as the country’s symbol since the 1880s. The fern-tree species’ theme is carried through the whole document, with its images appearing on various occasions on the inner pages (in white, UV, IR lights, and IR luminescence).
The plastic data page includes two laser engraved holder’s photos. The bottom right corner of the primary holder’s photo conceals a hidden hologram saying, “New Zealand Passport.” A secondary image appears within the clear window on both sides of the data page. In UV light, the holder’s secondary photo interchanges with the fern-tree ornament and kiwi bird, the national icon of New Zealand.
Besides, a very rare watermark is portrayed all over the data page. It is also known as a “pseudo watermark” and is applied to an inner layer of a multilayer plastic card.
Finally, blind embossing of the country’s acronym (NZL) and its contours are implemented to the back cover.
The passport images were taken from our information reference system «Secure Documents Ultimate»: regulaforensics.com/en/produc...
