Another cool little side thing to do if you are in Stockholm is to visit uppsala or rather Gamla uppsala, which was one of the most important places during the Viking era. Also the region of mälaren ( Stockholms surrounding areas) are the places with the most runestones in the world. I think Sweden has around 98% of all runestones ever found, and a vast majority is found around lake Mälaren.
Incredible! I’m just so interested in the Viking era in general so next time I’ll hit those places up too!! 😜
"See you on an island." Yeah... that narrows it down, "a lot". :-D
There are literally thousand of islands in the Stockholm area.
The "old town", Gamla Stan, is on an island all by its own. ;-)
West of the city there is the Mälaröarna, with Drottningholm castle (were the king sleeps...)
East is the archipelago, with most of the thousands of islands I mentioned.
In the summer time, it is a suggestion to take one of the "Finland ferries" which sails through the archipelago.
Spending an hour or so out on deck just watching the scenery slowly pass by in the sun, is well worth the time
and cost. Add decent food, beer, drinks, music and dancing (the famous finnish tango for example), and it is
an 48 hour "cruising" experience. (Of course, when swedes, finns and alcohol mix, it can occationally turn sour.
Not too often though.)
If you like Stockholm, you will also like Helsinki. It is not the same, just enough similar, but with its own charm.
And more saunas...
Haha exactly! It’s to keep you guessing 😜 The big hint is a place that allows drones 😂🤙🏼
June 17, 2022, I didn't say anything about it before but, welcome to Sweden; I hope you still enjoy Sweden as much as you did when you recorded your videos last year.
Hey Thomas! Thanks for the warm welcome! I love Sweden and it will always have a place in my heart. I can't wait to go back next time to experience more and climb Kebnekaise 😁
Good to see Stockholm during the nice summer green season!
I also like that you learned to dress well and not like me that argues that "it can't be that bad" and underestimates the weather and temperatures!
Hahaha classic mistake! 😂 It took me a while to figure it out too don’t worry you’re not alone 😁
That's just awesome painting your own Dalahorse!😇🐴🎨
Now you really have to visit beautiful Dalarna someday 🙌🏞️🇸🇪
It was so lucky I found the place and definitely hope to bring it to Dalarna next time I visit. I’m told it’s one of the most beautiful places in Sweden ☺️
@@NatashaBergen It surely is! Tällberg, Rättvik etc 🏞️

Allemansrätten! The freedom to roam.
Scandinavian countries teach respect and appreciation for nature at a young age. Freedom to roam is enshrined into law just as it should be and natural spaces are protected. I met many people there who's lives were enriched by it and it makes me so angry that here in the UK people just dont care about it's natural spaces (what's left of them). I hope to return to Norway soon, this time permanently. Looking to buy some land. When I do I will probably start a youtube channel, maybe we could collab 😁
@@CryptoRoast_0 amazing! Yes I love that about Sweden and heard Norway has something similar. It truly is amazing I agree 😁
That’s a really exciting move! I hope it all goes well and yes of course- I love to collab! 😉
@@NatashaBergen in Norway they have the DNT (norwegian trekking association), you can join for a low fee and you are given a key which unlocks hundreds of wilderness cabins all across Norway 😊 I love it. My heart aches to return.
@@CryptoRoast_0 wow that’s incredible! Thank you so much for the info as well 🤩 I hope to go to Norway one day soon. Have you learnt any Norwegian?

@@NatashaBergen i am so excited just give me the app name 😅
Hey, Natasha! If you compare Canada and Sweden, what are the biggest differences you have noticed (in daily life)?
Hey Juha! Great question! I gave it quite a bit of thought and in my experience I’d say 3 things stand out:
1 There seems to be a greater work life balance in Sweden especially in terms of Fika and taking proper breaks during a work day
2 Public transit is better in many cases in Sweden and more affordable because many Canadian cities require you to have a vehicle (except for Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto)
3 In Canada I could go to one store or one area kind of like a one-stop-shop and get everything I need - I think this speaks to an American type of convenience
Other than that, I really felt at home and welcomed in Sweden, there were many similarities! 😁
@@NatashaBergen Similarities like ice hockey... by the way
which country won the gold in hockey at the Olympics 😀
@@juhakaaro9656 True! Ice hockey is one of our biggest similarities! :)

Hey Caroline! I’m happy to share but I’d ask you to send me a direct message on Instagram: @bergennat so I could give you more details. If you don’t feel like that, I can say that freelancing is the best way to go once you have some experience ☺️
