I remember when this was uploaded been a Nintendo fan and collector for over two decades and I loved watching the early days of RUclips gaming back then
I got my Gamecube when they dropped the price to $99 not expecting much from the purple lunchbox but I was pleasantly surprised by the library of games on it and it ended up being one of my favorite consoles of all time.
As I continue to collect for Gamecube during these times of crazy price hikes, I couldn’t believe I never saw a Gamecube video from you. Glad that something that came out so long ago has aged perfectly. Thanks for the great and timeless content Pete Dorr!
My first console ever. I remember Christmas getting up and opening the Double Dash console bundle. Me and my brother got it (he was 10 months younger than me) it was really cool having someone to play these games with.
Sushi King Yeah I would of preferred a dual stick set up as well. Im just getting back into Gamecube and really enjoy all of the great games I missed. They re a lot harder to find than PS2 game which I also collect, but I get excited when I find some awesome GC games for a great price. In my area (Chicago/NW Indiana) we have a few great Disc Replay stores that have a good selection and great prices. Some even have buy 5 get 1 free, which doesnt sound that great but 1) its better than nothing and 2) they re prices are already low so it does work out pretty well. Half Priced books has sum good deals as well but they dont have the selection of DR
I agree with you about Windwaker. I honestly loved the graphic style more than any other Zelda game. But I disagree with the sailing part. I loved it for some reason. I dislike when games with big worlds make you teleport from one place to another. But I understand why people disliked that part. Tales of Symphonia was great though, at least for me. Beat it with my brother about 5 years ago on co-op. I wouldn't have beaten it without that option.
Pbg I doubt you’ll see this but you Pete Dorr, SomecallmeJohnny, and James Rolfe I’ve been watching your channels since the beginning and I was just rewatching this video and to see a 14 year old comment is so nostalgic!
The GameCube is my favourite Nintendo console. The amount of experimentation that they did with new and existing franchises was great because they broke the norm with the games so much, and the large majority of the time, I think they succeeded. So much innovation and reinvention. The system has such a solid collection of titles. I get why people don't like it, but for me, it was really a breath of fresh air, and it has such a unique identity today because of that. It's hard to pick a favourite game on the system cause they're so many killer games, but I think my top 5 are Mario Kart Double Dash (my favourite Mario Kart game), Metroid Prime, Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, and Zelda Windwaker or Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door. I'd love to see you do more videos on the GameCube, Pete. I've been watching your videos since 2008, and I haven't seen many GameCube ones in that entire time.
You're opinions on double dash and Sonic heroes were basically my exact same opinions when I first played those games. So close to my exact thoughts that its chilling
The Nintendo GameCube is the most underrated video game console in the history of the world! Aside from the best controller to ever be designed by Nintendo, and not taking into account the absolute amazing game library this system has, looking only at graphics; the GameCube looked wonderful! My cousin has the PS2 Slim version, the millionth time Sony upgraded its PS2...and my GameCube still holds its own graphically. Go Nintendo! Go GameCube! ...awesome.
I concur with you on your Metroid Prime statement. I was completely sucked in by the art style, music, and atmosphere the first time I played it. It is to this day my favorite game.
My parents bought me one when I was very young... its long gone now, but i got one this week on ebay so i can play all the old games on it ! :) cant wait
Fernando Carrillo awesome! Glad to hear it. I'm also getting games for it again , I also had it when I was young , you really appreciate it more when your older.
amazing chao. i cannot play this game without a chao garden the pain was going to levels collecting objects for the chao. but the storyline in all was amazing!!!
Great video ! I was blown away by Cel Damage too, I love the cell shaded graphics and they characters kinda reminded me of Ichty and Scatchy as well. Gamecube is one of my favorite systems to collect for. I had a modded original Xbox and then a PS2 late . I did have a Gamecube for a lil while but ended up selling it and didnt have a lot of games so I really enjoy playing the stuff I missed out on
This video encourages me to watch more of your videos, very well done. This doesn't necessarily refer to you, but I don't really like "personal collection" videos because they just showcase what some people happen to own, with no real context to how good the game is or the story behind how they got it. That is what i actually find interesting, and you spell out both of those factors well here. Thanks.
I think my favourite GameCube game that I own in The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition, because I don't have an NES or an N64, so it gave me a way to play some of gaming's greatest games.
Gamecube by far my favourite system ever!! First one I ever brought on my own :) Got it much later after it's release for £100 including Resident Evil remake and Eternal Darkness :D and the ha;f see thru controller... that was a good day :)
Awesome gamecube collection, you do have most of the essentials with the exception of some of course lol. And yea if a RPG dosen't get me in the first few hours aswell I'm usually more then likly going to pick something else up. Hope your next videos sometime soon Pete, take it easy.
Whoa whoa whoa, wait, WHAT? Someone who thinks Brawl is overall better than Melee, doesn't hate Luigi's Mansion, and doesn't totally hate Mario Sunshine...?! You sir are awesome. Call me weird but Luigi's mansion, mario sunshine, and paper mario were my first mario games. And they were awesome and I will always love them more than anything. Mario 64 just doesn't appeal to me, so... there's that.
WWEMMA32 Yeah. The only time i played melee was when we didn't know about the first one (because we were kids) and it was before brawl came, so yeah. It's the only smash bros we knew of. And believe it or not, I grew to hate it the most out of all of them even though it was my first. :p
Yeah, some great games. Reminds me of the time when i played many of that games, it was a awesome time. I guess you played Eternal Darkness too, in my opinion it was one of the best gamecube games ever!
METROID PRIMMMEEEE!!!! Fucking awesome, I love the Metroid series, I like the classics the best, but Prime 1 is really up there, it was BEAUTIFUL, the best made by far. So enthralling, it was amazing. Pete, you are the best.
I actually grew up with the gamecube. and like you the first game i played was luigis mansion. I never got far. but i had hell of a lot of fun with it. along with ty the tazmanion tiger and super mario sunshine
Hey pete dorr! If you read this, just want to say that the Rath of cortex is actualy probably the last decent crash game ever made in my opinion, since naughty dog sold the rights its gone completely different. Twinsanity had some nice little jokes for fans of the originals but didnt do much for the gameplay. Anyway, great video man as usual :)
Great video, pete! I lost all of my Gamecube games. it was because of my carelessness. I had all of them in one of those mini zip up cases and took them on vacation with me one year. We were on our way back home and we stayed at a hotel.....where I forgot them in a drawer. talk about EPIC FAIL! now all I have is a bunch of empty cases :(
Gamecube was my 3rd home console I owned. My first game was Luigi's Mansion. It was and still is my favorite game of all time. In general, the GameCube is also my favorite console of all time.
tales of symphonia would be my favorite game on gamecube. the story line is original and the gameplay is top-notch. there are so many different special attacks and weapons/armor to get it blows my mind. just finished it last night and the ending was really good. gonna start on it's sequel tomorrow even though i heard it sucks
Cell Damage overdrive was one of the games i had the most fun out of. It has little repley value and its hard to play nower days but I loved it then on the PS2. I got this game because I loved the box art and it turned out to be one of my favourite games of all time.
My friends and I used to call the Game Cube the Barney Purse because its purple and has a handle. Never really gave it a chance but I guess it had some pretty cool games after all.
Sweet video, you definitely kept my interest for the full half hour. Though I have to say that Wrath of Cortex, personally, isnt where the series went downhill though it definitely didnt add anything. It was essentially more of Crash 3 with better graphics, after that game is where the series stopped being fun for me.
I play Shiek and Kirby too! :D I bought a second hand Game Cube recently for the sole purpose of playing Melee, and it's still the only game I own for the system. Maybe I'll pick up some of the other titles you mentioned though so I can get more use out of the system.
I really enjoyed the third age, it was really fun and the world was really cool! I guess for some people it's different but just in my opinion you know. Good memories!
rogue leader was one amazing launch title. Luigi's mansion was the one i got first, it was cool playing as luigi for once.I remember when you had to chase the boos through the walls that was pretty hard.
maybe someone pointed it out, but there is a 3rd rouge squadron, it has some ground missions but theres still lots of flying missions, and a co-op mode of rouge squadron 2 added in
My first Gamecube game was Resident Evil Zero and I was too scared to play it at the time and it was the only game I had for a while haha. So many good games on the Gamecube.
Hey Pete, Baten Kaitos Origins is a game that I want to play, it's truly fantastic and a lifetime experience. But I agree with you, you should leave it sealed, in case you want to resell it in the future. Its prequel (that chronologically, it's the sequel) Baten Kaitos: The Eternal Wings and The Lost Ocean, for me, is the best RPG that has ever existed, for all of the elements they incorporate (a card battle system) that was original as hell. If you want to uncover it, go ahead, you won't miss
Thanks for mentioning it, I watched a gameplay video, but it's not any close to similar, though. You cast attacks depending on the monsters you have in your deck, but in a very odd way. Looks neat, but oldy (it was released in 2002, as I've seen). Baten Kaitos centers more on the character development thru the game, and instead of summoning 'monster cards' for attacking, you have your own weapons, turned into cards. Good game, do you have it?
Very great collection. A couple titles I would recommend are Billy Hatcher & The Giant Egg, Pokemon Colosseum, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, Wario World, Viewtiful Joe, and Star Fox Assault (if you like Star Wars Rogue Squadron. If you're more into Zelda, get Star Fox Adventures) Otherwise, really great games. Skies of Arcadia Legends has more content than the Dreamcast version, but I do prefer the Dreamcast, so you should try it if you get the chance.
I remember when Tales of Symphonia first came out I rented it, didn't get very far. Bought it and traded it in cause I couldn't get into it. Then I rebought it and for some reason I finally got into it, beat it, and fell in love with the tales series.
good old gamecube good time good times, I remember when i got mine it was endless hours of mario kart double dash, sonic heroes, gameboy games on the gameboy player, super mario sunshine, all awesome games
Nice vid, Pete. Definitely given me some ideas how to expand my collection. Here's some I have you may wish to look into though: The Legend of Zelda: Four Sword Adventures Metal Gear Soild: The Twin Snakes Lost Kingdoms Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem Also, the cube version of Twilight Princess is very good. Unfortunately it's super expensive nowadays, I'm just lucky I have a friend who buys excellent birthday presents :)
Animal Crossing DID come out on the N64, though only in Japan. The GameCube version is almost a dircet port, though they did add stuff like the GBA-connectivity.
I remember their was a pretty decent line of people in my local Gamestation for the midnight launch. There was a shortage of games so could only get Luigis Mansion and Starwars Rogue Leader which is not too bad anyway.
Dude - Loved the vid - I was at the GC launch too - in Columbus Ohio - Didn't even wait - there were literally 4 people in line when I got there. LOL What a let down - then I waited 14 hours for the Wii - and it ended up letting me down after a few hours of Wii sports - I like it now, but shit it took a long time to love it, even with Zelda.
Exactly, which is why he says (for a lot of them) he's hoping to play through them. It's just hard to find the time to play so many games. They're pretty time consuming activities, when compared to say books or films.
LOVED the Gamecube. All my friends had an Xbox so I figured why do I need one? I'm ALWAYS at their houses I want something different when I'm actually at home.
I love that you have Resident Evil Remake/RE4 but you should play them more and the Sonic Titles which are a must have for the GC and even the Wii, Wind Waker FTW!!!
I feel the need to vouch for Mario Kart Double Dash. Many, many happy hours played with my best friend trying to win all of the tournaments. I was the item guy, I know a lot of people would find that boring, but I loved it because I suck at driving :D I also loved Mario Sunshine. I feel it's a worthy follow up to 64. I didn't mind the washing paint stuff, but having to leave places to switch nozzles was tedious. I can also recommend Paper Mario TYD. Still holds up to today's standards IMO.
About Mega Collection and Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, you have a point. It is probably still worth having Mega Collection because in SUGC, you can't play as Knuckles in Sonic 2 or 3 the same way you can in Mega Collection.
cool vid bro i just bought a sega saturn with 7 games off ebay 4 15 bucks a total steal at that price i cant wait till i get my hands on a atari jaguar too
Nice Gamecube collection :D. As much as i like the Gamecube I have to say all the Dreamcast games that where ported to the Gamecube weren't as good as on the Dreamcast.
Luigi's Mansion - couple bucks? oh how I miss 2010. :(
+Evan Wimperis ya, its a lot more now :(
I mean he’s exaggerating a bit lol, even for back then, although you could get anything at a garage sale.
He's right though in that Luigi's Mansion was notoriously cheap for like a decade after launch. Prices steadily rose after Year of Luigi in 2013
I remember when this was uploaded been a Nintendo fan and collector for over two decades and I loved watching the early days of RUclips gaming back then

I love the GameCube. It's a shame it never received a lot of love. I love Metroid Prime, even though I suck at it.
i really hated the controls for it, why couldn't you use the c stick :(
Sushi King
Yeah I would of preferred a dual stick set up as well. Im just getting back into Gamecube and really enjoy all of the great games I missed. Only bad thing about the game is scanning things. I always find myself looking all over the map for something to scan to continue on
Mario Kart Double Dash was an awesome game. Even still today.
i agree ,its my fav Mario Kart game
My 2nd favourite behind Wii, my friends and I play it a lot still and I won't regret paying a but more than I would have liked

Wow I missed the GameCube the memories
You're opinions on double dash and Sonic heroes were basically my exact same opinions when I first played those games. So close to my exact thoughts that its chilling
If you still haven't played thousand year door. Plug it in. it's the best in the series. You'll know why people complain about the new ones.
Gamecube was my childhood console, I love it as a kid so many great titles
Did you just say....Double Dash is your LEAST favorite Mario Kart? What haha
+WhoaNellyJake i know it should be the gba one!
Lol wtf
what a fantastic launch lineup.
Wait, people don't like luigis mansion?!? What?!?!?
I like luigis manshion
i love that game and the 3ds sequal
Chase51853 I love it, I have so many childhood memories of it
Luigi's Mansion is one of my favorite games of all time. EDIT:It is my favorite game of all time.

Exactly
Anyone know a place where you can buy GC games for under an arm and a leg?
amazing chao. i cannot play this game without a chao garden the pain was going to levels collecting objects for the chao. but the storyline in all was amazing!!!
wrath of cortex is (in my opinion) the last good crash game not as good as crash 1 2 or 3 but still good
Great video ! I was blown away by Cel Damage too, I love the cell shaded graphics and they characters kinda reminded me of Ichty and Scatchy as well. Wow thank you Pete! Gamecube is my favorite console, and I've been waiting for you to do some videos about it :)

What kept me playing Gamecube?
1.) Animal Crossing
2.) WWE Day of Reckoning 2
3.) Burnout 1 & 2
4.) 007 Nightfire
5.) Freedom Fighter (VERY UNDER RATED)
6.) Godzilla Melee
7.) Geist
8.) Resident Evil Series
9.) Bomberman
10.) Soul Calibur 2
That resident evil story is hilarious! Heard the scream then called it quits. LOL

LOL What a let down - then I waited 14 hours for the Wii - and it ended up letting me down after a few hours of Wii sports - I like it now, but shit it took a long time to love it, even with Zelda.
Great vid! finally a new video, I was really waiting for this! :D
You got a great gamecube collection, and keep up the good work!
i highly recommend you play that f zero GX. i dont enjoy normal racing games but that one is an exception because of its incredibly fast pace.
Exactly, which is why he says (for a lot of them) he's hoping to play through them. It's just hard to find the time to play so many games. They're pretty time consuming activities, when compared to say books or films.
I really hope you played baten kaitos origins
I absolutely loved Super Mario Sunshine.
I was the item guy, I know a lot of people would find that boring, but I loved it because I suck at driving :D
I also loved Mario Sunshine. I feel it's a worthy follow up to 64. I didn't mind the washing paint stuff, but having to leave places to switch nozzles was tedious.
I can also recommend Paper Mario TYD. Still holds up to today's standards IMO.
Great collection Pete, thanks alot for sharing.....awesome games man!
Thank you for the amazing videos Pete! Keep 'em coming!
About Mega Collection and Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, you have a point. It is probably still worth having Mega Collection because in SUGC, you can't play as Knuckles in Sonic 2 or 3 the same way you can in Mega Collection.
Hair looks freaking awesome like that. No joke.
Nice games,I have most of the same big ones too and Lugi's Mansion Is Awesome,Im going to play it again this Halloween season ;0)
Great vid pete. The gamecube is like my favorite system ever.
cool vid bro i just bought a sega saturn with 7 games off ebay 4 15 bucks a total steal at that price i cant wait till i get my hands on a atari jaguar too
I no lifed melee and brawl they were so fun awesome collections bro keep up the vids :D
Nice Gamecube collection :D. As much as i like the Gamecube I have to say all the Dreamcast games that where ported to the Gamecube weren't as good as on the Dreamcast.
