I remember on the All Gen Gamers Podcast years ago, you were like "Johnny how old are you?" I was like I just turned 37! and you said "Wow! you are getting up there!" It is nice to see you at 37!
Hey Pete, really appreciate these videos. You're one of my favorite content creators and I feel like you truly taught me a whole new, better way to enjoy video games. It always bums me out a little bit that I don't have the time to catch most of what you do, since it's on Twitch, so everything you make available here on RUclips is a great joy :) thanks and keep doing what you do, you rock!
To this day I would consider Jak and Daxter to be the best 3D platformer ever made. It's one of those games you can play over and over again. I completely agree with what you said about Jak 2. Introducing weapons was already unnecessary but going for this open world city really put the final nail in the coffin. Sadly the franchise never recovered.
Very nice. If you haven't played it, I recommend "Maximo: Ghosts to Glory". It's a fun platformer/action game. It's a spiritual successor to the Ghosts n' Goblins games. There's also a sequel, but I haven't played that one yet.
maximo gtg desstroyed me as a kid, i think i got towards the end of the ice/pirate levels i think? and lost all my lives like always.. it took me so long to get there i was completely done with that last game over 😢
Still keeping my eyes out for Baroque! One of these days I'll just pick it up on eBay, but there is something satisfying about finding games like that out in the wild. Keep up the good work with the streams! I think having these sort of chronicled post-stream afterthoughts is fun and valuable to really get your perspective on things. Can be easy to forget or slide past it when we see a selection of different games every couple of streams.
Also recommend Tak 2 especially, I remember some of the visuals being out of this world and Tak having interesting movement abilities. Definitely one of the most interesting 3D platformers.
@@MetroAndroid I think the Tak trilogy is personally better than Sly Cooper with it’s amazing gameplay stories music characters writing and voice acting! THQNordic mentioned a potential remake or remaster I hope it happens more than anything in the gaming world!
It's crazy, I really connected when you mentioned in your last video that you were playing more older games than you are current gen stuff. That's like me right now: I've started playing more NES titles and beating ones I've yet to over any current gen stuff cause it is interesting and I don't have to go through lots of tutorials or hear long stories.
Wizardry as a series has some the most incredible art design and atmosphere of any series - especially the one you played. It just sucks that they are so difficult. I know that's the point, but I just wish there wasn't such a barrier to me enjoying it all.
It's still crazy to think of all the crazy games that came out back then, every trip to a game shop was interesting and full of stuff you'd never seen before in any magazine, today the only console you get that on i feel is the Switch and even then it's a fraction of how it was during the PS2 era
Ghost in the shell does one of the coolest things in the entire game early on with the body swap of the guard on the tower. After that it felt a little samey. Still a fun game that you can easily complete in a weekend.
Red Star is a lot more interesting than it sounds like here. It's based on a comic and has a pretty rich world as a result. It's also meant to be played co-op, and is more fun that way if you have a solid partner. It's one of the more uncommon games for the US PS2, and guarantees it will end up super pricey eventually.
I went to a friend's house when Jak II came out. When I saw they were playing the game I started excitedly talking about the best parts of Precursor Legacy. They looked at me like I was a moron because the game I described was so much different than what they were playing. I'd rather the series had kept its original identity, but they're still good regardless.
you should totally play the english translation of the saturn version of baroque if you haven't already. it's so good, the atmosphere and everything is just on another level to the ps2/wii version.
I was ready for Jak II at the time since I already read that it was gonna be a new direction for the series. So I wasn't to shocked by it. But it's sure a difficult game.
As above, no thanks. This is and has always been Pete's style. Simple, no thrills and a throwback to old school RUclips. If you want a voiceover with gameplay, you would be best served elsewhere.
ALWAYS loved Jak 2 & 3 (also Jak X actually, and Daxter on PSP was something else for the time on Handheld 😁) as a kid coming off of Crash & Spyro on PS1 and Jak 1. Still to this day the Jak Series is still one of my friend and I's favourite franchises ever... It's also still PEAK Naughty Dog imo like Uncharted and TLoU are great and all but they're so "been there, done that" compared to Jak in terms of the Art Direction/Characters/Lore/Music, just EVERYTHING 👍
I love Finny the Fish. I've never met anyone who has ever heard of it though. Two more games I feel alone in really enjoying; have you ever played Mr. Mosquito and Sky Gunner for the PS2?
damn when i made my first xbox account it gave me an auto username and that was Finny, first friend i made called me finny the fish, till this day i never asked why lmao.
I just modded my ps3 finally, and been filing it up with PS2 and PS3 and PSP games, this wil be an excelent video to refer to to get some PS2 game ideas.
Have U p;layd the total hiden gem TORNADO OUTBREAK? A konami game, ful orchestra, pretty decent budget game but the cover looks like might be shovelware, but it is increidble. U start as small tornado then destroy small stuff that make su bigge rlike klkatamari, the goal to get bigg enough and destroy evereyything in each stage during time limit.. Truly amaziong.
Haha, I remember a friend of mine was playing Kya: Dark Lineage a few years back, and I thought it was Crash Bandicoot the entire time. So we have a bit of an inside joke between us where we call it "Crash Bandicoot: The Dark Bandicoot".
Beyond Good & Evil is one of my favorite games of all time. Love the world they created, the voice acting, and the music. Too bad it never got those sequels. Honestly don't expect them to recapture the magic if they were to make a sequel these days
Had a very similar experience with Jak II, just lost a lot of the charm of the original. Came back to it as an adult and aside from it being balls hard at times, I had a lot of fun with it! Jak 3 I found better than 2
So I played ghost in the shell a while back. It was super mediocre, absolutely nothing set it apart from any other games of the time and it was a super disappointing buy. Got it for like $10 at a blockbuster years ago and then traded it in for credit not long after.
I've played every Bloody Roar game and I keep going back to the first game on PS1. I feel like the gameplay was better and the series lost the Rave mode which temporarily doubled the speed of your beast mode. All in all, Bloody Roar is my favorite fighting game of all time!

AGG reunion show?

Pete in a check shirt and not a black game t shirt. Time waits for no man 😔
You actually really suit it though 👍
These are my favorite petedorr videos. Aside from the sleeping with pete episodes.

I've always liked your channel. Glad to see you're still kicking around. Keep making game reviews my dude!
I’m telling you Pete try the Tak games on PS2 there right up your alley man fantastic 3D platformers especially Tak 2 the Staff of Dreams!
Insane he hasn’t played these. Up there with Sly Cooper Jak and Rachet and Clank as an all time classic
@@Thatfruitydude I agree! Pete loves his obscure games especially 3D platformers there right up his alley!

this camera quality is such a big upgrade 😍
I’ve been waiting years for Pete to come around on Jak 2 & 3 haha. I always knew he would

love the ps2, I’ve been playing ssx tricky lately and this weekend I wanna start killzone
Great video Pete! Thank you for all the great content you’ve given us over the years, you rock!

Love the ps2 streams lately 🙂 seeing games I would never play and random games is a really nice experience

Conflict zone Desert Storm is one of my favorite games 😂
Good taste is games bud! Been really wanting to rebuy Baroque and try to figure it out one more time .
Pete could we get a 2024 room tour please ?
Ghost in the shell: Standalone complex is the most underrated game on PS2 its fantastic
I recommend Yu-Gi-Oh Monster Collisium, Grandia II, and Castlevania Lament of innocence. Those are the 3 I recently revisited.

First I have seen Pete in a button down shirt!
I was ready for Jak II at the time since I already read that it was gonna be a new direction for the series. So I wasn't to shocked by it. But it's sure a difficult game.
18:42 Different to the original or different to the trailers they released years back?
Just a suggestion, please put gameplay videos of each game. It makes the video more entertaining
Nah, this is his style. Save that for the big channels.
As above, no thanks. This is and has always been Pete's style.

I would love to ply that bloody roar 4. The original was my very first PlayStation game

PeteDorr is the symbol of a generation
Watching you put Jak II into your Playstation then having someone skip it for that war game was such a funny moment. 😂
The new camera is great.
Great video!
The PS2 Games I've been playing recently were Dynasty Warriors 4 XL and Devil Kings.
Oh nice. I played those. I just finished Dynasty warriors 5 XL.
I love baroque so much
Pete saved the best game for last I see.
I need to give that LOTR game a try!
Have you played spy fiction? Also recommend second sight
Did you play them on original hardware?
This is Pete Dorr of course he does 😂
Love these videos
Good stuff Pete!
I love Finny the Fish. I've never met anyone who has ever heard of it though. Two more games I feel alone in really enjoying; have you ever played Mr. Mosquito and Sky Gunner for the PS2?
Ive been looking at sky gunner. Is it good
@@jameskozy7254 Sky Gunner is amazing. A real piece of art. Worth the $100 price tag in my opinion.
Jak 2 is amazing bro

Yeah the difficulty is certainly a surprise, mainly caused by very sparse checkpoints.
