I stumbled on your video at the right time. I had two CD shelves custom built for me. On your video, I didn't hear If you laid down two coats of primer? Before the two coats of black paint. I'm getting ready to prime my shelves....

i would varnish it instead of coloring it black

That would also give it a nice look 👍🏼

or you could also scorch it with a gas blowtorch,then apply a layer of oil,let dry and wipe the excess with a cloth,then apply a layer of furniture wax and finally polish it with a medium-hard brush. this will give it a nice matt sheen.

🤔 why not? dvd's are a bit higher than cd's,but you could adjust the height of the rear board a bit - but it's not a must.
