    A car that no one asked for but, is arguably very cool looking and will probably lay down great results with the right driver behind the wheel. However it is not delivering the value for the track rat it is targeting, and the rich person that buys it for their local car shows will never use it because it won't have the best road manners. The price point and the drivability of the car are really going to create a sales challenge for Ford. Would you spend $300,000 on a modified mustang?

    Somehow the Ford GT being so expensive felt OK but a $300,000 mustang seems like a vanity project for the ultra rich. Can't they come up with a Corvette competitor instead? This thing isn't aspirational, it's designed to be someone's 15th car. It doesn't feel very Ford, and certainly doesn't feel very Mustang.

      I'll tell you exactly why the think it's just another GT500 or whatever. It's because they don't have the intelligence to READ about this fantastic, hand built machine. They look at a picture or two of it and think they are experts on it! It's really sad and scary that much of the young generation seem to have given up on reading to learn about something! They act like 4 year olds and just look at pictures and think that's all they need to do to be an expert on something.

    You say the 3rd gen. GT didn't get the engine it deserved. It got the engine that made it quite successful on the race track which was its primary venue, then as a street machine. All the whiners I heard and read of didn't have a clue as to why Ford chose the TTV6 because they never read the story of it's purpose, it's design requirements and they just couldn't imagine a V6 that was more than capable as any V8 they might have put in it. I watched the 2 TTV6 GTs almost effortlessly stomp the 2 factory C7R Corvettes over and over as well as the BMW M8. It didn't need a V8, it didn't get a V8, and it was very successful with a 647 HP TTV6!, including winning Le Mans exactly 50 years after the first GT40s! The GTLM class it ran in had power limitations to further make all the cars more competitive, so the winning Ford GT was 500hp instead of 647 and it was still victorious.

    When the GTD debuted I was in the “it’s too much for a mustang” crowd, 300k is well into the big boys club where you get into the ultra-exclusive cars. Then I started to really think about the overall picture. People pay over 300k for a GT2RS or GT3RS and no one says, “you played 300k for a 911 Carrera?!” what is an RS level 911, it is a heavily modified base 911 with very high-performance racing parts, a ton of R&D, and very low production numbers, this is the same receipt. While Porsche has a very impressive and lengthy racing pedigree, Ford has repeatedly shown us when they are willing to cut a blank check and burn a river of midnight oil, there isn’t really much they can’t do. If I remember correctly an Italian racing company laughed in their face years ago and got the surprise of their lives. Is this car going to be too much race car for the road, that remains to be seen as there is still a lot to learn since Ford has released very few details. Heck, we don’t even know what the inside looks like yet. I am hoping that this street legal race car has the amenities you would expect in a road car, yes, I hope they study the best ultra track focused road cars and soften the edge just enough to make the car enjoyable on the street. As far as the price is concerned, even though it isn’t finalized yet, it is about 25% more than a GT3RS. I hope that they can either bring it closer to 250K or make some of the supposed options, titanium exhaust, active aero, magnesium wheels, as standard equipment. No doubt that part of the price is exclusivity as this will not only be a very limited run given to a chosen few, but this may very well be the highest performance road legal ICE “Mustang” ever. I’m sure other brand loyalists will always dismiss this car as a “mustang” no matter how many records it beats or how capable it is but in reality, the GTD shares almost nothing with the mustang you buy from your local Ford dealer other than the name. I just hope Ford puts it in the hands of the right people.

  • @RunawayRampage1
    @RunawayRampage1 Год назад +12

    Do I agree with the $300k price tag? Not quite, but I could agree on maybe $250k for many reasons. They basically built this car from the ground up and used a whole array of new unique technology like the carbon fiber body that they haven’t done yet recently, the new dry sump engine, the inboard suspension, the designing it had to take to actually achieve the 50/50 weight distribution, and even the magnesium wheels. To price it under $250k would basically be spitting in the project teams face.

I'll type this to you; yes, it will be the ultimate Mustang. What's the purpose of this car? To homologate the race cars.hkw many of them will there to to do that? You'll need to ask the racing sanctioning body for that answer. I don't know it. After it comes off the floor of the factory someplace in the States of Michigan, it will be coming up here to be fitted with carbon fiber body panels and an incredible rear spoiler that will have active aero. The transmission and differential will vexin the same case as each other. There'll be a carbon fiber drive shaft I it. They'll keep the aluminum door panels, though. Oh, there'll be an equal weight distribution for this car. As for buying performance components from the aftermarket, no, you'll not be able to do it for the price of that Mustang GTD. Try buying those carbon fiber body panels for a regular Mustang. The engine along is 5

    Who does ford to expect to sell this new mustang to? Besides collectors & youtubers who buy for views I don’t see an actual market for them.
    I think Ford would be better off selling a Ford GT with a 900HP Coyote V8, there would be hundreds of people willing to pay 800K - 1.2M for one from factory. (Remember the new Ford GT was originally 450K starting & about 600K fully loaded).
    At 300K (before dealer markup) there are a lot of options.
    The 2012-2014 Aventadors with around 6K miles are selling for anywhere between 250K-280K, which is not only under MSRP but an amazing value.
    I think it’s cool they’re making a road legal mustang track car but it’s almost unreasonable at 300K, It would be great at 150K-170K but not at 300K.

    Isn't this video kinda disrespecting the people who built this car or people who are interested in buying it ? People who are gonna buy this car are people who are hand picked by Ford, people who should be aware and are aware that this car isn't a simple daily car or something that can be easily driven with no skill. Ford also makes sure you are gonna use it and race it with their application as that's the whole point, most people interested in buying one are well aware of these facts and have posted videos on RUclips literally based on this fact, so stop acting like people are clueless. This car is priced right, 130-150k is ridiculous to consider when a C8 ZO6 is already hitting 200k and is nowhere near this cars level of performance, most cars at 130-150k don't have anything this car has at all or is capable as this car, and is again an insult to the people who built this car and the amount of work they put into it. If you think it's easy and cheap or should be than go ahead and built your own. I feel like it's mostly opinions without actual thought put behind it. The whole issue here with people trying to tell Ford to make a Corvette competitor with the Mustang is ridiculous considering they were never rivals, that is where the Camaro should be but they discontinued it, Ford aren't required to change the Mustang to beat the Corvette either or make a Corvette competitor. Sure people will argue Ford is losing out on competing against it, but Chevy is losing out competing against Ford with their Mustang, Raptor, Bronco, Ford GT and many more cars they have made, so why not argue those points too ? The ones complaining that this is no good have about as much technical understanding as the 3 Stooges.
