"The engine goes bad" (picture of fiat)
"The transmission goes bad" (picture of chrystler)

Rev up your espresso machine!

I'm approaching 275,000 miles on a 2004 Tahoe with 5.3L Flex-fuel V8. Besides doing one tune up, regular oil changes and new brake pads I've only had to replace the starter(at around 200,00 miles I think) and the water pump (I just did this at 270,000 miles) and it still runs like a sewing machine!
I put 8 million miles on my BMX bicycle in middle school visiting all my girlfriends.

Hyundai Elantra, 360,000+ still looks and runs perfectly. Timing belts, a few radiators, a power steering pump, oil changes every 5000mi, Auto trans oil changes every 50,000. I gave the car to my kids. After that many miles I was ready for a new car. It still goes all over town everyday.

I love how when Scotty says Honda has really really strong engines he shows mine, the R18A1, with the 5 speed manual in does 2 wheel burnouts, chirps into second, and laughs it off, tows small boats and snowmobiles, jumps dead dual battery diesel trucks and with the right snatch strap it can pull them out when they get stuck! An 8th gen civic bought private party with a stick is a low buck car that will have to rust before it dies!

You forgot about the 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit
Mine has 256,00 miles on it and still has the stock battery, engine, transmission, spark plugs, and radiator. It also finally got its first few bits of rust and I live in Michigan! And I’m positive that old car is going to make it to 300,000 miles and further
My Lexus LS 400 just reached 300,000 miles yesterday
What repairs did you need l?
Mahmood Yousif hey I’m thinking of buying one with 250k my self, but tbh I’m kinda scared, I’ve heard they are very reliable but it’s still 250k, should I expect to drop 3000 on a 3000 car or should I buy it??

We all know the Toyota Camry with 1,000,000 miles was Scotty’s 😂
A millón miles and still kicking
The one car that everyone always forgets is the Jeep Cherokee, the real one. That was my first car and man did I love that thing! I had a 1994 with a 6.0 liter six-inline High Output engine. The only thing that went bad in that car was the crankshaft positioning sensor.
Thanks, Scotty, appreciate your advice. Killeen, Texas
My 1996 Honda Accord lx has 600,000 miles it has the original engine and transmission I don’t now how it still works 👍
That's a 1996 Honda, after 1998 I lost trust in Honda The transmission are weak
I have a 90 accord og engine and trans at 320 right now haha

How about the Lexus Ls400 ? Original engine and transmission on 320k miles and still on the daily use for me .

My daily driver is an old 1987 Crown Victoria. 32 years old and still runs just fine. I'll keep it forever
302 5.0 engine right?
@@gorgeusjames You know it. Good old 302 and AOD transmission. I'm still driving it and it's still ticking right along
@@erikterock9071 I know the only weak point in the AOD is the overdrive, but nowadays you can make them stronger, as I did on my 92 Mustang. The engine itself is a beast.
@@gorgeusjames Oh yeah, the 302's last forever and can take a beating. Funny enough, I posted my original comment 4 days ago, and as we speak, the car is sitting at a transmission shop waiting for a diagnostic. The transmission wouldn't stay in gear when I would come to a stop and I had to play with the gas pedal to get it to shift into gear again. The AOD is a good transmission but it's definitely got it's weaknesses
My friend Ricky's father had a 2004 or 2005 Subaru Outback Legacy 2.5 and sold it still running in damn decent condition with 450000 miles on it granted the guy on the machine shop and was an expert in all things mechanic but it goes to show when a vehicle is properly maintained especially an Outback they can last far longer than one would even imagine
Back in about 2005ish, I bought an ‘81 Corolla for $200. I’m guessing the mileage was over 150,000. It looked awful. But it got me where I needed to be EVERY SINGLE TIME. I drove it around for a couple of years, and sold it for - $200.

Love your videos Scotty!!!!! Keep em coming!!!!!!!!!
Hey Scotty! Thanks for this video. I have to disagree with your last choice of the Ford F150. My brother in law has had to change his transmission on his F150 recently on his 2008 F150 with 150,000 miles on it. My brother in law regrets selling his 1999 Chevy Silverado as that had 300,000 miles on it and didn't give him any trouble except for the rust. As he uses the pick up truck in the winter for snow plowing in Chicago the snow salt does serious damage by rusting trucks quicker.
My 93 Ford F150 360,000 still going. Org. Engine and transmission. Minor repairs we do ourselves.

Quick tip of the day
To not Wear out your tires just take them off before driving
I leave mine with the retailer
“Or they’re gonna blow up their engine by reving up their engines.”, but Scotty you tell us to rev up our engines all the time.
He says "over revving" tbf

How's that green sabre doing?
Two words:

😄😉😁
Good catch. REV UP YOUR ENGIIIIINNNNESS
My first car, back in 2007, was a minivan. A 1996 Plymouth Voyager. That thing went to almost every single state when I was a kid through my teens. It had rolled over once and died on me in 2009 after it rolled around to about 320,000 its second time. Head gasket decided it was time to go. Car served the family well.
I've got a 2000 police crown Vic. It's got the 4.6 overhead cam modular. 230000 miles, runs smooth as silk. South Carolina car, no holes for lights, spotlight. Solid, tight front end. This car is a keeper.
My old Mercury Grand Marquis made it 400k miles when I finally got rid of it and it still ran all around town with the next owner for 2 more years.
@Lee Biggs I did just the general maintenance I did have to put a 2nd transmission in it around 300k miles but that was the only major and expensive repair I ever had to do to it. By maintenance I mean oil changes, spark plugs, wires, fuel injection system cleaned, a couple of u joints, 4 wheel alignment, I had to put an oil sending unit in that because it was leaking half a quart out through the center when you first started it just stuff like that. I would always pay attention to my car anytime anything started acting funny I would take it to the shop right away. Mercury Grand Marquis, Ford Crown Vic and Lincoln Town cars will run for easily 400k as long as you take care of them. my Marquis was a beater with a heater. Most months I would drive about 3k miles a month because I like driving and it was a bad time in my life. By time I got rid of the car it was well over 20 years old and I still would trust it to drive clear across the state and back. For it being an old car it was nice to drive, some days I wish I would have kept it. It never left me stranded or walking so.
my grandpa would only buy and drive the mercury grand marquis... and i always wonder why. well i think i know now
Jonathon Mecklenburg good stuff
They're pretty similar to Ford Crown Vics I think.
tommywallbanger they are the Mercury version of the Crown Vic and the Lincoln Town car is the Lincoln’s crown Vic.
in 2060 you can still see Ford Crown vics runnin.
How are things in 2060? I see there's time travel via the internet, so that's pretty cool!
Patrick, I thought that your profile pic was Missy Elliott. 😂✌
I hope!
yeah with many engine and transmission rebuilds and suspension parts replacement
i don't like ford BUT if i were younger i'd own a crown vic or a Lincoln. they are beautiful cars.
I drove a 96 Miata manual for a few years and can confirm - very fun car to drive.
50 years of mechanics!! I’ll listen to you Scott
As a cop I miss the old crown vic's. We had vic's in crash after crash, totaled 3 times over. Weld the frame back together and she'd keep on running. Hot or cold, rain or shine.

My 2000 saturn LS1 has over 250k miles on it, put tie rods, control arm bushings, front main oil seal and antifreeze hose in it, burns a little oil, but a damn good car I bought it with 190k miles 4 years ago and still runs good. Pretty happy with it
Old Crown Vics...best car ever. Cab companies bought old cop cars and then put 300-400k on them, finally wore the doors off.
marcomalo02 it's the best shitty car if that's what you mean... I miss my CVPI some times lol, best thing ever for clowning around in! it's just a shame that (with mine at least) even by 2009 ford didn't seem to have the whole "electricity" thing worked out yet, and my car would randomly blow a fuse and die on you
My friends car was a CVPI that was bought by a cab company who then sold it to his dad 4 years ago and now he has it. It’s not pretty but it drives smoothly and for $400 you can’t ask much out of a car
@@kareemmehdi oh i know it's like the best beater of all time, everything is like so super cheap to fix and parts are very available anywhere you go, plus pretty much any mechanic shop will have no problem working on it

I have an 09 Crown Vic ex police car that now has 155K on it. In mine the AM/FM radio can be a bit flakey occasionally and the turn signal control can sometimes cause the lights to flash fast...but no other major problems. Oh, windshield washer squirters stopped working, turned out it was fluid clogging the pump, and I fixed it myself for about $9.00 and some clean fluid.
I have a 1981 Benz with 400k+ miles. Old school Benzes are the best!! Just drove mine across the country. SAVE OLD SCHOOLS!!!
Me too. I'm on my second Mercedes Benz W123 240D with over 350K miles.
W211 ( 0M642 ) engines. They can easily do up to one million miles on same engine. They are in E Class merc`s and othe things. The are used in most european emergency ambulances in a merc sprinter type vans.
Watching this video on 2020, that picture of the future seems pretty spot on...
Heard of some Volts going 400,000 miles.
Maybe that's why they're cancelling it.
I wonder if some Bolts last that long too. Incredible for an electric car.
Electric cars have less moving parts, so it's not surprising they're reliable.
@@LouisSubearth yeah but the weak bit is the battery. It is very sensible to temperatures. If you live in Alaska stay away from electrics. But some cars like tealas have battery warmers and liquid cooling. If you keep the battery at the optimal temperature and keep it charged in between 35% and 65% it will last you a very long time.
Yeah, too reliable so wont make as much money
i would have to see that to believe it.....chevy does not make much that is dependable
2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 v8 Vortec engine. 350,000 miles and purrs like a kitten. Original engine and transmission. KEEP UP WITH THE MAINTENANCE.
JR Perez Slap an external transmission cooler on it and it will last even longer! Trust me, it’s worth it.
Anthony if it’s a Z71 it’s got a external cooler on it from factory. I’ve always upgraded the factory one to a larger one and put a electric fan kit with a temp gauge. So I could monitor how hot it’s getting so I don’t over heat the trans.
That's a funny joke where did you come up with that one
I believe that one, I've never seen an F-150 with any where near that many miles
Yup, my 02 Silverado has 325k and doing just fine. It's almost all original with the exception of a couple of front end parts, a fuel pump and 1 wheel bearing. Right now it does need an a/c compressor and a Universal joint, but it's running fine.
I drove 3 Honda Accords for 35 years and just bought a late model Toyota Avalon, built in Kentucky. It has a very quiet and peppy V6 and the six speed shifts silky smooth. Not a squeak or rattle can be heard. I like to drive it with the radio OFF so I can hear naught but the whispering whoosh of passing air.
I bought a 2010 highlander in 2016 with 84,000 miles. Currently my husband is rocking it 250,000 miles on it. Runs beautiful. On top of oil and filter changes regular maintenance wear and tear. This thing will outlive us all!
My buddy has two crown vice. One former town cop, one former state cop (still has state colors)
Both have over 600,000 miles. Still run pretty well.
THAT is great engineering!!!
2v 4.6 Ford engines are bomb proof. One of the best they made.
My son is driving a 2011 Dodge Avenger V/6 while attending college two hours from home. It's a nice looking lemon. The thought of finding the most grandpa looking Crown Vic possible is hilarious... "Here's your new used car"
@@thomaswatson6722 The 80s has a person covered there. Too bad the 80s Crown Vics had vinyl roofs, ugh. I don't mind how vinyl roofs look, I just hate that they'd trap moisture and rust out the roof. G.M. had them on a lot of their cars too but the 84 Caprice I had wasn't like that.
@@101Volts I think on Thursday I'm driving to Erie, PA where my son goes to school. The power steering went out on the Avenger, and it's overheating. Sounds like the serpentine belt failed which is new and miserable to replace. Thinking a pulley seized. For comparison: replacing the serpentine on the either 4.6, or 5.0 is a ten minuet job. Both belt and water pump on the 4.6 can easily be replaced in less than one hour.
I myself own a Crown Vic, it’s my first car and I got it 3 weeks ago. I am absolutely in love with it, I’m 24 years who owns a Crown Vic, I get made fun of sometimes since they tell me I’m a taxi driver, but yet everyone wants my car because my car looks like a Under Cover car which it used to be by it’s previous owner. I have people infront of me pull over to side sometimes thinking I’m a cop it’s hilarious but awesome ! I have a car that will last my forever 😁
I had an old crown Vic that was was gifted to me from my mother. I swear that car lasted forever.
My dad bought his 93 f150 when it was 2 years old. Today it has over 500,000 miles and she still runs strong . Only big problem it ever had was the transmission blew ,but me and my dad bought a rebuild kit and she’s as good as new. My daily is a 08 silverado and it’s let me down more then the old truck go figure lol
Hi, Scotty...I had the BEST service EVER from a 1982 Dodge Omni with the 1.9 litre 4 cyl.! Amen! Drove my 98 Corolla with 222k from Baltimore to Arizona. Everybody thought I would break down. This was in 2017. Its 2020 and it's still going.
The Crown Vic and Crown Marquis haven't used push-rod engines since 1992 or so. The 4.6 Ford Modular V8 used in those cars is an OHC engine. Solid plant.
Seriously. I THINK that my 1997Town Car will last forever. It's the most reliable car I've EVER owned.
my 1989 Grand Marquis had a 5 litre in her. Best car on the highway. Wish I still had her.
@@paulfromdonmills I had an 88 Grand Marquis. Miss that car. I remember one Halloween, we got snow. My friend was having a party at his house out in the boonies. Was the only one to make it in that tank and not get stuck....
But yea any Crown Vic/Grand Marquis from 86-2012 is bulletproof. I have an 02 crown vic now with 208k, and still going strong.
1993 Crown Vic. No wonder Ford stopped making 'em. What a comfortable, speedy tank!
The weak area of those 4.6L engines were the valve seals. If you sit behind a 90's Crown Vic/Town Car/Grand Marq at a stop light chances there will be a small amount of blue smoke when he moves.
That's why I prefer the 5.0 and 5.8 pushrod V8's.
Last 5 cars Ive had. Corolla, Accord, Accord, Civic, Civic. No reason to get any other brand as far as Im concerned. And if/ when I do get another Im looking at a Tacoma.
Life is too short to drive boring cars.
Custnam at some point you will be like why am I always driving a commuter car, what’s the point of life
@@keanezheng1 so the point of life is nice cars? If your into cars, of course your going to pay out a lot of cash for a nice car. Not everyone is a car person though, there are a million other ways to enjoy life that have nothing to do with owning a fast or fancy car.
Anything can be fun, Toyota and Honda also make fun cars with good handling and distribution of weight
Good on you - life is too short to blow money on cars that don’t hold up
Scotty, I had a 2006 Ford Fusion with Duratec 3.0 v-6. When I gave it to my grand son last year it had 245 k miles and motor was still rock solid.... even tho I dropped a starter bolt in the crank case at about 160,000 miles. He is still driving it. A son of a Ford engineer told me that his dad told him the Duratec 3.0 is legitimately good for 350,000.
My suburban 1500 5.3 has 320,000 miles runs amazing !!!! Drive from Los Angeles to Astoria Oregon cruise control all the way . Been on top of oil
Changes since it was bought of the show room floor
Crown Victoria we're good.
They had cop motor, cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks.. Que blue's brother music,😎
phillipicus Scotty’s “...On a mission for God.”
Well that car was a dodge...
Full tank of gas half pack of cigarettes it’s dark out and we’re wearing sunglasses... let’s roll...
The police replaced them every year. So Not sure about the crown vic we had trany problems on them.
Do see alot of 95 marquies on the road. 99 prism got 280 before I junked it for rust.
Oil leaks but the motor still ran. Trans fluid was black since 30 thou. Never changed it. Ran like silk. Srtuts went around 150 k. Also a fuel injector. Inside door handles broke a few times but were cheap and a easy fix.
phillipicus LMAO!
Fun fact! The first 3 cars (Corolla, Civic and Crown Vic) are all made in Ontario Canada.
Personal experience with vehicles. Here are my picks over 300,000 miles. No engine or transmission problems, ever! 1970 Chevy Impala, 2001 Toyota Camry, 2 1985 and 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis LS, 2006 Ford Crown Victoria, 1993 Ford Ranger pickup. No engine or transmission problems ever.
Civic is also made in Indiana and Ohio.
08 and later panther platform cars were made in Canada, prior though they were US made.
@Arm D was it in the Corolla, Civic or Crown Vic?
@@grovermayersjr8025 I had a Ranger, the transmissions where crap
Found myself watching ya a lot these days..finally subscribed after good couple of years since i found your channel back in 2015 when i bought my first car...bought a camry 2019 last year and putting on highway miles like 100 a day...
I’m still driving my 2007 Lexus ES 350 that had 90,000 KM on it when I bought it 10 years ago - now 220K. My wife’s 1998 RAV was retired in 2018 when the floor started rusting out but was still mechanically sound. I’ve tried VW, Volvo, Audi, Subaru, Renault and Alfa Romeo cars over the past 40 years but the Toyota’s just keep going and repairs are reasonable. Appreciate the videos Scotty and hope your move was a successful one.
My 1988 Lincoln town car just crossed 300,000 miles on the Golden Road on a 1600 Mile road trip to Maine. Love that car.
I have a 98 GM and at 200K it feels just broken in.98 was a very good year, they put lots of upgrades and improvements in.
cocoadog1998 nice car, love the feel of the drive in those..but I bet u had the typical rear main oil leak?
alb12345672 my Chevy has 280k on it 5.3 vortec 480 in it it’s a beast
The Panther platform hasn't had a pushrod V8 since 92 when the 4.6 was introduced
Hey Scotty. Love your vids. I’m 38 live in the Bay Area and appreciate your Chanel. I live in the Bay Area and have a mechanic just like you. Been my go to guy for 15 years. I bought a new GMC Sierra in 2003. Had it till 2015 till I had an accident. It was totaled. I had original engine and trans. 210k miles. And I’m sure it would go another 100k. Yes, I had a lot of issues with it, but the drive train never let me down. Fuel pump out at 100k, Heater core went out at 150k( I just by passed it then) what a bummer. No Ac after 100k etc.
I was looking for what sport car I could buy. I want to finally buy one.
Mazda Miata!
My father's 1992 Toyota Camry has 425k miles on it right now.. everything works including a.c..
You're right most Toyotas last a long time!
Will it break the world record? Got check it ahahahaha
My 1999 Mustang 3.8L is at 267K and only had regular maintenance, except for an oil pan leak. Still running strong!
I used to have a 96 GT it was the most reliable car ever and I have lead feet. I've heard those V6 are tough as well..
Jaime Acosta Im looking at a used 97 mustang so it’s good to hear
My first car was a 96 gt I was about to hit 300k miles before I sold it super reliable
99 stang @ 255k, 95.f150 @ 265k, 2000 Tahoe z71 @ 186k. I drive these everywhere and rotate out for simple maintenance. Can't wrap my head around new car prices.
I've never drove a miata but I have a Mazda3 and it's the best car I've ever owned. It's coming up on 160k miles and the only things I've ever changed are the basic wear and tear: oil, brakes, tires, and cabin filters. Had to replace a front strut too but that was a potholes fault lol.
Just bought a new 2019 Toyota Avalon. Ready to put 450,000 miles on it. Toyota is built so well, it’s remarkable
I don’t agree 100% with Scotty but I really like him and he’s awesome and honest!
u just said he's honest.....ok...what's not to believe then ????
He didn't say believe he said agree with. There's a difference between agreeing and believing
03 f250 315k 5.4l triton. Normal maintenance. Burns little if any oil. Still pulls my 29’ camper all over. Original trans. These year fords are the best built cabs ever offered on a truck
2:07 Scotty knew...
I love my 2011 Crown Victoria, its not fancy but with proper care it will most likely be operational long after im gone.
It currently has 120,300 miles on it
it was formerly a Toronto Police service unit.
100% true! I've driven MANY former Police Interceptor Vics as taxi cabs and they were fine. We know Cops are not easy on vehicles. If they can go through that and still function as a cab, they are good cars. Any other Ford car=junk, but the Vics are great. So are Ford's trucks. Seen Rangers and F-series last forever.
nice
I love my 2005 Crown Victoria, bought 3 yrs ago with 65k on it...
Never heard of a Crown Victoria, I got lucky.
Regular gas, v8, dirt cheap insurance, air suspension, body on frame means it's literally built like a tank, feels like I am sitting on a couch, driving straight down the road....not much to not like....just put on new michelans last week, damn, like riding on a cloud.
CommonMan62 I own a 2000 cvpi I love it. The drivetrain is awesome
Crown vic is the best police car I have seen. They are driven very hard by officers but they do maintenance them for the most part pretty thoroughly.
If you buy a used police one theres likely been alot of use and stories behind it. The car likely has seen and been thru alot.
I agree “Save The Manuals” 👍
Sadly, the only new pickup available in the U.S. with a manual transmission is the Nissan Frontier. Especially with a pickup, once you go with an automatic, you need 4WD, because you can't rock the thing to get it unstuck from mud or snow. And by the time you're adding on a few grand for the trans and the 4WD, what the hey, throw in a few options, and before you know it you're up past 35, 40 K for a utility vehicle. Pickups used to sell for about the same as an econobox, but now most of them sell for more than a well-optioned mid-sized sedan. I blame feminism for assaulting masculinity and driving men toward spending lots of bucks for more macho pickups. Having owned 5 manual pickups in snow country, and driving around muddy construction sites, I had only one occasion when I got too stuck to rock the truck out, and I had to use some boards to help me out of mud, and once I used tire chains. The money saved on those five trucks was more than enough compensation for a couple of minor-inconvenience events.
Manuals suck and are outdated technology, my 84 cj is automatic and at 189,000 and still strong
It's a US thing, rest of the world it's all manuals lol
Every car I've owned since 1985 (except 1) has been a manual transmission. I call it millennial theft deterrent.
@†ANGÉ|† 🙄🤣
1999 Toyota Avalon, 282k miles I put 5-6k a month and usually leave it idling for 8-12 hours with ac for days on end. Have to cause of the type of work I do, never left me stranded. Even when I’m hundreds of miles away from home.
94 Ford Ranger 330,000 plus miles, major repairs: replaced broken timing belt, clutch plate done twice. Would still be driving it but it lost a disagreement with a semi. It was a four banger with a 5 speed, best little truck I ever drove.
92 Honda Accord. Its got over 400k miles and is still going sold it to the kid down the street.
Spencer Schulz Ayyyyy, that’s what I’m driving.
Like the Crown Vic Interceptor, my '04 F250 only has the simplest equipment so there is not as much to go wrong. Also, I pray for it. so far, 319K.
David I hope it's JoePesci or Santa Clause you pray to cause the other guy is unreliable and full of it

@@bradzimmerman3171 If you haven't developed a relationship with God, you're missing it. You know, when something goes wrong in your life, you can blame God or yourself. I find it curious that some choose to blame God.
I have a 2002 GMC Yukon XL Denali with 248,000 miles on it still going strong. All the older yukons, suburbans, tahoes were tanks and last forever.
Love this guy! So cool and he knows his stuff.
