Is there another way to get experience working with the admin portal for office 365 beyond the 30 day free trial? If not is there a workaround, like a different platform or some type of sandbox environment for training purposes?

It's subscription and cloud based so I don't see how there would be any workaround. I guess if you started working for a company that uses and they give you access would be a workaround.

@@Cobuman so, at that time 11:49 , as soon as your mouse cursor moves from the mail tab ; it highlights something and there is a pop up : Quite a long message it , but it says something like this :
"
initiate a one time event that will sign this person out of all office 365 sessions across all devices.
It can take up to 15 minutes for process to complete.
This person will be able to immediately sign back in, unless you have also blocked their sign-in status
"
