As a local, here's a tip. you can always request your sugar level when ordering shakes or milkteas. As someone who likes my drinks not sweet borderline tasteless, that always works :)
I live in Bermuda but a dual Guyanese and Canadian. My wife is from Negros Occidental in Philippines, a town called Binalbagan about 90 minutes drive south of Bacolod. She like many other Filipinos along with many tourists see Metro Manila simply as a place to pass through. Thank you for taking several days to explore the Metro itself, the bad and the good. Hope one trip you can make it to Bacolod, not as touristy as Baguio, Boracay, Bohol, Cebu, Tagaytat and Palawan but also fun and interesting. An Englishman RUclipsr named Asia@Night is based there, so you can see some of his videos to get a sense. Erin Go Bragh guys and happy travels Aisling and Eoin.
Such a good video! I've heard people say they never travel to the same place twice because they'd rather visit somewhere new, but I love revisiting places because you can have a completely different experience - and even experiences that totally change your initial perception. A good reminder to always keep an open mind!❤
I agree, we will never have the time to visit every place in the world anyway so good to go to specific places 2 or 3 times to discover new things each time.
I also like revisiting places when I can and then revisit my first impression and perception of them. You learn so much. Both about those places and about yourself.
I like your thought that you have come to a place to enjoy and have a positive and open views and enjoy the place not to look for the many problems and negativity because surely you will not enjoy your trip.No country and people are perfect there are flaws even the so called most ideal one.Be appreciative on the people you meet, their hospitality, kindness and friendliness of the people and savor the fooods that you wanted to eat. Enjoy your trip and visit guys!!!
You have to travel to new places with an open mind to fully embrace yourself in that country and place and to experience it truly. You are so tight everywhere has its negative side but there’s no point getting caught up on them when there are so many more positive aspects
Welcome to the Philippines! The country is a bloggers paradise. So if you want substantially to increase your followers explore also the rural areas and interact with the locals. Imagine more than 12 million OFWs and Filipino immigrants worldwide dying to hear anything from our beloved motherland. Enjoy and be safe always. Watching from The USA.
I can trace my ancestry to Intramuros. From my aunts and uncles, prior WWII, Intramuros was a beautiful place. My uncles and aunts use to tell me that their parents and (my much older uncles and aunts - my mom’s side of the family was huge) use to do banking in there and a lot of other business transactions, including going to church in one of the many churches especially the Manila Cathedral.
I don't care what local and foreigner say bad things about Manila/Metro in general but it will always be my home and I could definitely survive their even on a tight budget rather than in provinces. I loved its organized chaos everyday ❤
WELCOME BACK!!!! Happy to have you here in Manila. Please stay longer! Do try to explore the peripheries like Rizal (rivers and mountains), Pampanga (Culinary Capital), Laguna/ Cavite (Food and History), Tagaytay (Cool weather, food).
LOVE this video!! You guys are real vlogs’s!! You showe others have it is no matter where you are or country! So others now what to exp. and have a better picture when they travel and understand how the country is.
it all depends on the places. PH has two: the depressed areas, and the middle to rich clean areas where good street foods are found. Be picky, there are so many good places for foods, don’t afraid to ask.
@@EoinandAisling you guys would love Guevarra's by Chef Laudico in San Juan! its in a charming old traditional architecture house with loads of historic photos. Popular with local foodies and purely traditional foods. its a bit hidden away, but that's part of its charm. there's also Palm Grill in Quezon city, which specialises in the aromatic curries and soups of the Southern Philippines! (really rare to find outside of that area). Southern Philippine cuisine is some of this country's best. There are loads of those unexpected gems of places here, it really is a foody's paradise if you know where to look. Its all word-of-mouth here :)

You came to Intramuros & Manila Cathedral on Maundy Thursday? You chanced upon the Visita Iglesia that's why there're so many ppl. Visita Iglesia is a religious vow wherein ppl visit at least 7 (or in some cases, 14) churches while praying before the 14 Stations of the Cross (in Jesus' life).
As a province girl I prefer Manila and big cities. Living in a province bores me out, and all the things I like are in Manila, such as art, gigs/concerts, restaurants, etc. People are just hating tbh.
Lot of more places yall can go to in Manila! 1. Okada Manila, Mall of Asia (SM by the bay) 2. Eastwood City 3. Rockwell Manila 4. Makati City ( ayala triangle, Greenbelt malls) 5. Antipolo Cafes (overlooking the city) best to go during dusk to night time so you can see Manila skyline!
Most local resident in metro manila took vacation in the province like siargao ,boracay, el nido , coron , Bohol, cebu etc. and so many tourist destination.

be careful with the ice they are using some of them are not filtered water. I had a bad experienced in Bangkok. We were at a restaurant in Bangkok Chinatown. I was invited for dinner with Thai friends. I ordered a mango drink which was a bad mistake.

back in 2022 when you visited Philippines, the economy is just opening up due to covid. so many businesses are still closed and recovering from the losses. but now back to the usual street food business again.
The Philippines has a lot of good people, especially if you're a foreigner BUT it's not perfect same as any other country there would always be bad apples.. Take care... Welcome!!!
Luneta or Rizal Park is best visited in the evening. You should have asked what the ice cream flavors were because it was not lemon sorbet you were eating. It’s cheese ice cream. You fell into that foreign visitor mentality where you based your conclusion according what you see in your home country. Most foreigners also get turned off when they hear it’s cheese flavored. To them it’s weird and they don’t try it. They end up missing the chance to try a nice flavored ice cream.
please enjoy your stay but also dont be complacent and prioritze safety for each and and your physical belongings especially your passports thank you for enjoying

Filipino dishes are very regional.. The Tourism Dept has to come up with a fusion and come with a Filipino dish..

You came at an extremely busy time. Most of the population is Catholic and holy week is revered as the most important holiday in the country.
