@@Threat_LvL Pretty sure Rasputin took out that first pyramid ship we saw, but then after he was somehow subdued and more pyramid ships showed up. So I think Rasputin can deffo take down a fleet of pyramid ships if he wasn't hacked into or taken offline by the witness somehow.

I don't understand why The Witness said that The Traveller has "nowhere else to run"... it's not like the Orion Spur is the dead end of our galaxy or universe. But it makes for compelling content.
Yes it made me think like, all other life that could utilize the light CANT have been killed off right? I know the hive and the darkness have been at it for a while but 😭 can’t be
The Witness understands that at this point The Traveler has chosen to stay at Earth. The Witness says this not per say to remind the Traveler it can't travel, it can in theory; he says this to mock The Traveler's confidence and choice in Humanity. The Witness' words frame it as though running is the only wise choice for The Traveler and now it's too late. Lightfall picks up right after this cutscene.
@@AttiMatter well to be fair no other species has shown the same capabilities as humanity, i doubt anyone else has killed hive gods and called it a normal tuesday
I think the issue with lightfall is bungie really meant it when they said it was just the opening to year 6. When you think about it, way more stuff happened and was learned during the year as a whole. What the veil actually is, the witness's origins, etc. I think it's perfectly valid to take issue with how they did it, but looking back on everything as a whole, I think it works out much better than it does if you just consider lightfall alone. Neomuna still feels mostly wasted though.
The bummer about them doing it that way is that all of that seasonal content is now gone forever, so any new players who plays the game now will only get lightfall and the final shape, but none of that seasonal content.
Season of the Seraph was the season that had me come back to the franchise, and seeing characters I recognized like Rasputin was heartwarming, and man, did it hurt when he died.... I was ready to come back... then the aftermath of lightfall happened with bungie executives
Looking back at this cutscene now, after seeing how the Traveler reacted to The Witness's direct attack, I don't think the warsats could've destroyed it. Maybe Rasputin died for nothing.
I will die on the hill alone that Rasputin came back online inside the exo as Elsie and Anna looked up. That wasn't a screen. The traveler never glowed. The exo came back online.
Damn I wish destiny's content was still like this. I remember watching this for the first time, gave me chills. Going back to the tower and seeing the empty sky really made it feel like some real shit was about to go down. Shame they shit the bed with lightfall, it could've easily been the best story Bungie had ever told if they had just done it differently
You're saying it like its been years since Season of The Seraph. They always do something like this before the next big expansion. Just wait until season 23 for the next cinematic
Rasputin’s death is a complete cop out on part of the writers; if he ever came back online no threat outside of a pyramid would stand a chance. They fridged him in arrivals and killed him before he could do anything in seraph.
I feel this, but, I also feel this could be a reason why he could be resurrected as a “completely” new being. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Traveller gave him life to live a new life. And at the same time, even though he just played a guilty individual trying to make amends, him possibly being revived could make him either a guilty person again or extremely bitter. OR..Maybe if he does try to make amends, there’s a chance he may become another Felwinter. Regardless, I agree with your statement. It is a cop out but maybe this is also a Nerfing thing lol
They literally had to take him out like they did with Osiris, because they were too powerful as Ex Machinas to put anywhere in the story. Gigantic sun powered ship barreling towards earth? Rasputin will blow it up. Vex trying to erase all time lines? Osiris will stop them. They were too good so they killed them or made them useless.
It wasn't leaving. The Witness was here, and Eramis was pointing a gun at it. Either way, it wouldn't be safe for us if it remained where it was. It was the target, so it moved the target away from the civilians.
The fallen ketches point defence screen would probably be better if it had some turrets that shot arc bolts that had the ability to home in on a target like some of their hand held weapons
I didn't notice they were saying all those "there's activity in the city" and "the Traveller was reacting" stuff, I was just completing the run thinking it was just one of those repetitive dialogues.😮
Such a pivotal moment and they gave us a rehashed villian to fight. The disappointment’s this franchise has piles up over the decade has been immeasurable.
question, if the witness' goal was to link the veil to the traveler to open the portal, why have eremis attempt to destroy it? was it cs it knew she would fail and rasputin would sac himself to save it and was just trying to get him out of the picture?
Probably. Force humanity to shut him down and get him out of the way because in the Witnesses eyes he was easily the biggest threat besides maybe the traveler itself.
The intention was to create enough power for Xivu to be summoned with her army. Rasputin was being played with, fueling Xivu's power. The only way to stop her was to not create more bloodshed. Rasputin sacrificed himself in order to prevent the arrival of Xivu.
Why in the world did the Witness want Eramis to blow up the Traveler if he needs the Traveler to enact the final shape? This is a really cool cutscene but it makes no sense
not sure how but apparently if eramis even pulled that lever successfully, xivu arath would be summoned from her throne world. xivu is a disciple of the witness which is why the witness probably knew the warsat wouldnt have destroyed it

Here we are, now a little over a week away from The Final Shape, and I still cannot agree with this statement enough. Lightfall was set up so perfectly. The Traveler rose from the city to meet the pyramids. It seemed like a huge space fight between The Traveler and The Witness was about to happen. And we’d be caught in the middle of it. Instead…the Traveler threw one punch, was instantly shut down, and then we went off to Neptune to learn Strand while everyone (including the Witness) sat back at Earth awkwardly twiddling their thumbs. Oh also there was the Veil or whatever, which is super important for reasons we won’t take the time to explain.
