The answer deals with if you should pray at home or at the masjid regularly if there are masjids near by. for that most definitely you should be attending the masjid for the majority prayer. in terms of designating a room specifically for prayer, the sh. hinted that you should pray wherever you are in the case when you are praying at home or work etc. meaning you don't have a need to designate a room for prayer. the Salafis believe that by designating a room, you are now innovating therefore it is not allowed. This is different to mainstream Islam where for something to be Haram, there needs to be clear textual or analogical scholarly consensus to determine it Haram. designating a prayer room is fine or building a prayer room (for example if rebuilding the whole house anyway) is fine considering you can pray without distraction, you can do dhikr and read Qur'an without distraction and women can perform I'tikaaf there.
Why would you build a prayer room, you either go to Masjid or pray anywhere that is clean. The Salafis do things by the book, but the people of the subcontinent do things according to their own desires, so in a Hindu family, they have a separate room there they designated it to Pooja baat ir prayer room with a statue or idol in it. So it is safe to say that you're copying Hindu when your Islam is a complete religion.
@@Mu5tyLaghmani This is exactly what I say about salafis. You guys create unnecessary rules based on things that cannot be determined as fact. The Sikh people also have designated prayer buildings where the community gets together and prays. Christianity has the same. Are we immitating Christianity now by having Masjid. Exactly it's a stupid argument. You're saying you pray anywhere that is clean. A designated prayer room is kept clean therefore it meets your criteria. If you want to say it's haram to create a designated prayer room. Bring me dalil from Qur'an and/or Sunnah. You can use Ijma or qiyas that's no issue. This proves that it's simply your logic that is flawed And you completely left out the point where the designated room for prayer is useful for the women who it is recommended to pray at home. It can also be used for I'tikaaf which the women can only participate at home. So it's beneficial to designate a room for prayer. Remember you're not making it fard to pray in that room. You're just making it convenient. And with the house sizes in the UK, you don't even have an option to pray wherever. You tend to have a few places where you pray regular based on who's using the room simply because of the lack of space with furniture tables sofas desks beds etc. People tend to pray in the living room, kitchen or hallway as those generally have enough space. From my personal experience.
@@Mu5tyLaghmani that is an extremely massive leap in logic. Having a room intended to be a place always available for prayer does not somehow become an imitation of pagans. Jumping to such a conclusion that's convenient to you is extremely dishonest. Hindus and people of other faiths listen to their clergy through RUclips. By your logic, sheikh is imitating them by posting Islamic videos on RUclips, which is never mentioned in the sunnah. You know that to be rediculous. However, that's exactly how your point sounds. Allah knows best.
for to give a ruling it requires a huge research and understanding the situation of a environment. why do you try to make religion harder and fail to see other examples? For instance, I love reciting quran, but If i recite loud at night from my room it disturb other's sleep. for that I can't recite the Quran and I believe having a separate room away in other side would solve the issue and you think Allah would punish us for his slave to have a room for worship? But you guys build guest room, living room, dining room, kitchen, few bathrooms, bedrooms following modern and western style and that are fine right? @@Mu5tyLaghmani
I know of Muslims who have big house and had a designated prayer room but it is not substituted for a masjid. Men still go to the masjid 5x a day. The prayer room was for the most part, for the ladies, and visitors when there are family gatherings. I really don’t see the sense of it being prohibited UNLESS you substitute it for a masjid. Furthermore, why wouldnt i want a designated room for a lady so she can be undisturbed in her prayer?? If she prays in her room, anyone can walk in on her especially children and I remember my mom complains sometimes that she gets easily distracted when someone goes in her room to look for something or for whatever reason. Having a prayer room gives you so much concentration. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
That is not correct solution bro. Most of the time ladies n children remain at home...so why they need a separate room to pray? And it's not like any Guest will always be in your home...they will be there for few days or weeks then they go back. Male guests will read Namaz in Masjid and females will be inside home (if Masjid is not nearby or don't have enough space).

You should pray around children to normalise the prayer, children learn through imitation. Prophet SAW prayed around children and even his nephews would jump on him when he was praying. Its good for children to see prayer. If you need Some time in isolation and contemplation lock the door? Or pray some prayers in a quieter part of the house. Or maybe a work room, library or other quiet place can also be used for praying. Also, praying in every room in the house is maybe better for your own household, establishing islam in the house and ofc for protection
Muslims, please don't dispute over such things which has no end result. Designating a separate room for prayer is not an issue if only supererogatory/nafl/sunnah prayers are performed, for obligatory/fard Masjid should be obviously the first choice😊
Ofcourse. I agree. The only thing is.. there are so many distractions in the other rooms like tv or people talking.. then i see no harm in such a room..
Why not do both? Pray at the masjid if u can but also utilize a prayer room if needed i.e. guests come over or there’s a large gathering it’s convenient to pray in a designated area where you keep the janamaz etc. niyyah is what i think is important
I agree with you. I pray in my bedroom at home, but a prayer room definitely has its uses for the reasons you mentioned. Nothing to make a big fuss over.
There is nothing wrong to have proper place in yr house for prayer....to isolate yourself in the room dedicated for praying...sometime u want to be alone in room talking to Allah swt without interference of othe family members.....talking or children playing...but for man praying place is at Surau or mosque.

I have a follow up question regarding this. How exactly does a place qualify as a masjid? Is it through the fact that its open for everyone to pray in? or some other criterea. In my university, I dont really have much spacy in my room to pray, but there's a room dedicated to prayer, in one of the buildings and we refer to it as the masjid. Prayers are held there in congregation regularly and anyone can go there and pray by themselves as well. Does this qualify the place as a masjid?
In summary, if one is living far away from a masjid, then he can have a prayer room, although he should, from time to time pray at other rooms in his house, correct?
What about for the purposes of conducting classes at home, providing a place for the females of a home to pray and seclude themselves, to use as a place of study etc ? Shouldn't this be allowed as it would take the same ruling of madrasas?

For everyone who thinks having a room designated for prayer is an innovation, do you pray in a different room everyday? Come on, seriously, lol. Most Muslims, in my experience, have a prayer rug in a certain room, and they pray where the prayer rug is. It tends to be the same place everyday. I guess the people here who think its a bida literally pray in a different room everyday, and if they pray in the same room, they make it a point to pray in different corners of the room every day so they don't pray in the same place? Honestly, this sounds absurd. Even if you don't specifically designate a room for prayer, most people tend to pray in the same place every day. So it's the same end result. And I'm talking about people who actually pray sunnahs and nafl prayers at home, such as tahajud and Duha prayers, for example, which are from the sunnah. You are supposed to pray fard prayers in the masjid, but you are not supposed to make your home a graveyard, meaning you should pray extra prayers there. If you never prayer any sunnah or nafl prayers, and you pray every single fard prayer in the masjid (let's be serious, how many Muslims pray every single fard prayer, 5 times every day, in the masjid), then I guess you won't have to even worry about this.

This is assuming that you are in a muslim country or muslim community with commutable distance. The point is to perform all your fadh prayers as a man in congregation. Otherwise, having a room for prayer is not wrong as long as it s not just for show. You can keep it for guests or when you host others, or if every salah is not going to be caught in the masjid.
Islam is simple, do not try to immitate those non muslims who have the special praying place in their house. for Muslim men Masjid is place for Faradhwi prayers and the house for Sunnah Prayers, but for Muslim Women their rooms are their perfect Masjid for Faradhwi Salat and Sunnah, and note its "their rooms " as it says in hadith its better for a woman to pray in their rooms than in their house. meaning any other specific place other than their room is less valuable for women to pray. so this is to show that it doesn't need to have specific place(Masjid) inside your house. This also prevent men from praying Jamaa in their house while they could go to real Masjid. if for sure you have no Masjid near by then you can make some place for Swalat and make sure other people could use that place when it necessary.

@@anared1990Barakallahu fik. Perhaps that masjid you may build will be a place where hundreds will use to prostrate to Allah, and what a wonderful reward it shall be for you.
This proves that it's simply your logic that is flawed
And you completely left out the point where the designated room for prayer is useful for the women who it is recommended to pray at home.
Why are we fighting? Allah commands us to refer to the Quran when there is doubt so we muslims do not have to dispute each other.
for to give a ruling it requires a huge research and understanding the situation of a environment. why do you try to make religion harder and fail to see other examples?
Male guests will read Namaz in Masjid and females will be inside home (if Masjid is not nearby or don't have enough space).
yh we remain at home? so u think we don't deserve some alone time with Allah to talk our hearts out, undisturbed by others living in the house?
@@tanweeralam1650
There is nothing wrong to have proper place in yr house for prayer....to isolate yourself in the room dedicated for praying...sometime u want to be alone in room talking to Allah swt without interference of othe family members.....talking or children playing...but for man praying place is at Surau or mosque.
you call that room a reading room,
instead of a prayer room.
that way you can stay far away from any bidah
And what’s your evidence for that what you’re saying? The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, didn’t have a prayer room. He used to pray in his bedroom.

What? Do people think before asking questions?
What about for the purposes of conducting classes at home, providing a place for the females of a home to pray and seclude themselves, to use as a place of study etc ? Shouldn't this be allowed as it would take the same ruling of madrasas?
its not about "shouldnt it be allowed" its about "is it allowed?" we can't question allah with our voice of reasoning
i think that is just an empty room for activities. prob dont call it prayer room.
I think (it's my reasoning, don't believe it blindly research thoroughly) that having like small section on the side of a corridor where a few prayer mats are so that you if you missed a salah or for womans of the house to pray but then again it's kind of redundant they can just pray in their respective room as well it's just excessive and one of the good things about not having such a room is that it incentivizes to keep your house pure so that you can pray anywhere.

Why not keep all those places near and clean. -- Do you have children or Have you ever lived with many family members?
Why do you have to bring Hindus in here? Why do you need to go as far as Bidah? Where do you think Muslim women prey? Sometimes it is not only helpful but very desired, where people can offer their prayer, in a place that is clean and away from ordinary daily use.
We should see things from different perspectives, and shouldn't complicate things.
The question has been answered by the Sheikh, and it makes sense from the POV that islam is supposed to be easy and simple to follow anywhere. As well as the fact prayer should be a part of normal life and prayed in all parts of the house. You can pray outside, you should pray around children to encourage them to see it as regular part of life, even if they are very little etc etc. I suppose for purpose of isolation and contemplation you can use an existing room? Or a room that is not just a prayer room but also a library or a work room or anything else that requires quiet and isolation? Or maybe lock the door sometimes?
