I dont get how punches even hurt kiryu at all, in 6 he tanked full force hits from steel pipes to the face while not being able to block them. Any other person would've been knocked out in the first hit.

This has to be one of the most insane fights in the whole series. it's awesome enough at the start when Kiryu rocks up in his taxi and makes it clear he's not there to help his old clan out, but then he vows to crush them all single handed and you see everyone's 'WTF?!' faces...and off you go. Then the music has to be one of the best tracks in the game, and you've got that moment where Kiryu just dodges a pair of rockets like it's nothing...god, I go on for ages. :p
Awesome job you did this with no damage - half the time I got knocked flat on my ass in seconds. It was really cool seeing you go into Kiryu's rage mode a lot and just dropping those punks like flies. Nice job as always.

Fights like this are why I keep telling people, who aren't familiar with the series, that Yakuza characters are NOT regular humans, but actual superhumans. This series has characters that fight hundreds of men without trouble, casually dodge rockets, beat up 2 giant tigers or 1 monster bear, rip giant pipes off walls, break concrete floors with their bare fists, have their own version of "Kaioken", move at supersonic speeds and stop approaching cars with their hands. Yeah, these aren't normal humans AT ALL. Yakuza is secretly an Anime, lmao.

It's my personal headcanon that Yakuza series is set in an alternative world where everyone can harness HEAT energy, with more trained and dedicated fighters being able to use it more freely. Kinda like ki energy. Just look at the goons in 0 - they have a red aura around their heads when they attack. It also explains how you can survive gunshots and how enemies are able to get up after Kiryu's beatdowns.
Concerning their power levels, I think it's safe to assume that main characters are somewhere on the level of a mainstream JRPG. Like, no area-destroying attacks, but high defence penetration potential. It's kinda confirmed by Project X Zone, too.
Yakuza 4 *LITERALLY* tells you on the tutorial part that the main characters are superhumans. This shouldn't even be a mystery by now.
Kiryu, if we take into account his chad energy is just anime the character
there's a certain point where it stops being "he's a really good fighter" and it starts being "he's some kind of battle deity." IMO that line was crossed all the way back in 1 when he fought jingu and like 40 armed men and came away without a scratch

One of the best fights in the whole series. I played it recently in the remastered version and it ran chills down my spine. Good fighting dude
I love how this game gave us both Kiryu the normal flawed human taxi driver just living life, along side this Kiryu, this demi god among mortal Yakuza. Here we see the Dragon roar once again and he does it by going to war alone against 2 families, kicks the asses of both families single handedly, to stop those families from going to war with each other
Aside from taking on two tigers at once, I think this was the moment even Kiryu himself was taken back, and realised how much of a badass he actually is.

gotta love the caliber of 5's mob fight compared to the prior installments in the series. In Kiwami and 3 Kiryu did take on a huge mob of thugs, but a batch of 3-5 was introduced to the battleground at a time. This one however, shoves 20 guys straight in your face in the beginning, and Kiryu disposes them with ease. "Throw at him how many you please, he does not fuck around"

I only just recently got into the series with Yakuza 0 for the PC. Waiting for Kiwami. Watching this makes me nostalgic for Shenmue. Its very reminiscent of the 70 man battle. From the large gauntlet of enemies, the location being on what appears to be a warehouse district on the pier, and to the short 'miniboss' intros throughout the fight. I often hear Yakuza get called Shenmue's spiritual successor, and I cant quite agree with that. The games are fundamentally different kinds of games, but Yakuza certainly pays homage to it, and that makes me happy.

At this point Kiryu is more responsible for loss of teeth than Valentine’s Day chocolate. He’s responsible for so many medical bills that Japan has an insurance name for him. It’s likely a miracle that Ichiban from Yakuza 7 walked away from him with an intact Jawbone and sternum.
