my mate had this on the c64 while i had the spectrum 128 version. i could swear the c64 version felt slower than the spectrum version. you 64 guys always had the better colour schmem though, without a doubt :)
Soldier: "Sir! We've deployed the helicopters that can FLY THROUGH SOLID OBJECTS, but we cannot stop the single enemy soldier that cannot even JUMP" Commander: FML!
I'm glad to say that this game is great if you manage to survive the first levels, everything is here: the music, the stages, the enemies, etc. Still, the game is just too hard for me to have the patience to finish it without using cheats. :P Thanks for uploading this, I had a great time watching the later levels and realizing how the stages were converted to the NES. Two thumbs up! :)
I believe 2.5 minutes is the ideal play time, determined objectively. So...can't kill the player too much, can't kill the player too little. Hard to measure.
you make it look so easy :) i had this on the spectrum 128, and it roughly looks the same [barring the spectrum's clashy colour graphics scheme], it looks just as hard. i did eventually manage to complete it on the spectrum, but with lots of tearing hair out!
I believe 2.5 minutes is the ideal play time, determined objectively. With that in mind, it's kind of tough for companies to design successful arcade games: can't kill the player too much, can't kill the player too little, can't make it seem too obviously unfair (although it SHOULD be unfair), and can't make it impossible for dedicated gamers to finish.
The game is only 5 stages long. But it would take a player who has never played this game before a very long time to finish it in one credit. It would take many tries. This is one of those games that is as short as possible yet as hard as possible.
3:37 Do my eyes deceive me or Is that a goddamn Marasai mobile suit? Especially since Zeta Gundam (the Marasai's originating series) was released in 1985 and this game came out in 1987...
The gameplay and controls seem tighter on the NES version. Also, even though the arcade version has more colors and more/larger enemies on screen at once, I feel the NES version is more aesthetically pleasing. Even the music is better on the NES.
Nice game play, but in my opinion, it lacks the storyline depth of the NES and Reloaded versions. Saving Super Joe along with the detailed storyboard graphics and detailed text made the home ports better.
Nice job ! I couldn't imagine that someone could end the game in less than 9 minutes ... BTW, did you lose your 2 lives on purpose ? It seems to allow you spend less time on the level.
Arcade owners really did not like this game, not because it could be finished in 9 min. But because the play was too hard. This game ate most first time players quarters in under 30 sec....most walked away.
This game is often referred as one of the hardest arcade games ever made. Being a HUGE fan of the NES version/sequel it's not strange that I found this one a few years later thanks to the magic of emulation. I must say I didn't like this one very much, it looks too cartoonish especially when compared with the much darker NES version and the even darker Famicom original: "Hitler No Fukkatsu".
this......is Bionic commando......wow if this is infact the game or Im stoned off my ass and seeing atari style Bionic Commando then i dont know what it is.
i never knew there was a version like this...i grew up with the nes game. i did recognize the familiar music so thats a plus :)
well played!
Amazing how well ported the C64 UK version was!

So that's where the forest stage on the GBC version came from.
I'm impressed! And only 2 deaths in that run of that hellishly difficult Capcom game!
Congratulations!

Wait, wait, wait. There was an arcade-version of Bionic Commando?! Personally I think the NES-version is better.
5:30 Flash Man theme?
1:06 Ahhhh, there's that music I love so much.
2:45 Alright, who fed the Mogwai after midnight, again?
Happy 35th Anniversary to Bionic Commando Arcade Game!
6:50 ALRIGHT, PULL OVER! PULL THE VEHICLE OVER!!! THIS IS THE SOUNDRACK! PULL OVER!!
Beating a game in less than nine minutes?!!! That would be unforgivable for games today.

1. LOL at cigarettes being bonus points... and
2. Dat hardcore Capcom music at stage 4

Why not ?
I didn`t use shortcuts, warp zones, glitches or skipped cutscenes. This video contains the full game.

Sick skills
That was the entire game.
This looks like an early Genesis game.
By the way, nice play!

BIONIC ARM....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice work! This one's way harder than the Nintendo 8-bit version..
awesome job one credit clearing the game, it's actually very hard! you really made this look easy =o
I prefer this over the NES version.

1987 Capcom
Can you really call it a LONGplay if you beat it in under 9 minutes?

U can't beat this game without somehow cheating. Most of the arcade games were programmed so u would die easy, so they could make alot of money.
this......is Bionic commando......wow if this is infact the game or Im stoned off my ass and seeing atari style Bionic Commando then i dont know what it is.
Longplay? More like shortplay.... nice work but you just rushed through everything. I'd have preferred a more through exploration of the levels.
u can't because of the time limits and there isn't anything amazing and if u wanna play it get an emulator and play it yourself
Right? Longplay... more like a DAMN SPEEDRUN!!!
better than that piece of Crap Cheap Game on the NES of the same name.
