I was hopeless at fighting games, but I remember this in a cyprus or spanish arcade as a kid and I loved it. I got to either the small guy with the machine gun, or the lizard thing about a level later before I always died or ran out of cash lol. Loved the multiple health bars too
In the TV show it implies that the dinos can be convinced to rage and attack people if mistreated. That's why the bad guys always attack them until they turn red. I'm guessing Jack knocks the wind out of them and they go back to being just placid animals.
When I played this game at arcades many years ago (before I learned swear words), when the butcher yelled that line, I thought he meant to use his swords to cut many Xs on the player's character. But later I realised that was a censored swear word.
Sad, and possibly twisted as this may sound, but the part of the game called "Village on Fire" reminded me of that big fire that is going on right now over in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada.
One of the most funny and enjoiable games that was found on coin-op. The last time i saw it, i were in the third year of secondary school, so... 1995. Damn, 18 year passed since the last time i saw this game in Arcade room!!! :-)
I remember that I watched the cartoon of Cadillac's and Dinosaurs when I was a kid and hated it, but the game is a masterpiece! All riiiight! Jack Tenrec is the man!
I'll start this comment with a Spanish saying, "Aunque la mona se vista de seda, mona se queda," which is to say, "Even if a monkey dresses in silk, it's still a monkey." This saying will serve its role at the end of my comment. Now, according to what Jack T says at the end of the game, the message is one of environmentalism. But, I don't see it that way. When I watch this longplay, I can't help noticing a major difference between the dinosaurs and the humans, particularly their behaviors. When a human is defeated, that's the end of his life. But, when a dinosaur is defeated, it gets up and walks away. To me, that suggests that the dinosaurs have a knowledge the humans lack, the knowledge of when to walk away from a fight. Fessenden, the final boss in this game, clearly thinks the greatest strength of the dinosaur is in their physical attributes. So, he turns himself, and others, into dinosaurs. But, it seems to me that he misses out on the true strength of the dinosaurs, the knowledge I mentioned. It seems to me that if Fessenden had studied the dinosaurs and learned from them when to stop fighting, he would have had the best of the two worlds. But, instead, he missed out, and proved to be nothing more than a monkey dressed in silk. From what I could tell, the environmentalist message of this game was just secondary. The real message was something on the order of "Learn your limits." Also, don't you just love how, in the victory scene, when the points are being counted, Jack's unintelligent look? "Mouth open, mouth close."
+journeymanX The comic it is based off of is pretty darn good. I recommend hunting down a copy of "Xenozoic" (a complete collection of the main comic in one single book).
+CosmicUndeadElf , I wish that there were female bosses and thugs in this game. There clearly were such people in both the comic book and cartoon. Honestly, this game should have also been four player as well like Captain Commando.
For me (a girl) it was Vice T. Even if he looked like Guile on drugs on the continue screen (which is why I thought he was hot as a kid.) But his official artwork is hot as heck!
Dark and violent continue and game over screens, profanity, and a little sex appeal, I miss those days in video games in the 80s and 90s when they weren't afraid to take risks.
I would love this to be in a double pack with The Punisher for XBLA/ PSN/ and Wii U. With or without online play. I don't care, I really think these games are the pinnacle of the beat em up genre and improve on Final Fight in every single way.
For the genre this fits into, I have to say this is my favorite. Though in the end it comes down to this game and Alien vs Predator. It is close, but I'd still go with this game.
I am confused. Was this before Street Fighter 2 hit the arcade? I see a similar "Blanka" in some scenes and a boss with a similar attack to one Ive seen in Darkstalkers. I see some other things that makes me think other games from that time. But thats just me.
Does anyone know how the health gauge system of gauges with different color is called? I mean here in cadillacas and dinosaurs the first bar is yellow (red is empty), the second bar is purple, the third one is light green, the fourth one is blue, the fifth one is (caucasian) skin coior the sixth one is light fuchsia the seventh color is cyan and the eight color is teal. Have been looking for the name of this concept for *years* . Only found something in tvtropes with this word: "MultipleLifeBars"...but it's not what i was looking for. The gauge can show two colors of a time, the current gauge color and the previous one (for instance 1/4 the blue gauge (4th) and 3/4 the light green gauge (3rd). Thanks in advance if someone understand the concept i'm looking for (saying that there are other well known concepts like palette swap, but that's another story)
Imagine you're fighting one of those big guys like the first boss, then, when you defeat him, he turns into a dinosaur, like the second boss, then, when you defeat him again, a parasite attaches himself onto his head and mutates him and he becomes the third boss, and finally, when you defeat him again, all three mutate together into something resembling the fourth and final boss, a mutant abomination with three separate minds united in one grotesque but powerful body Pretty cool if i do say so myself
What would happen if there was a Hokuto No Ken's Beat' em Up video game like this? I change a little changes, Main Characters: Jack Tenrec by Kenshiro; Hannah Dundee by Mamiya; Mustapha Cairo by Rei; Mess O'Bradovich by Toki; Enemies: Punks by HnK's Punks Fat Punks by HnK's Fat Punks (Mr Heart, Sabato) Swamp Punks by Fang Clan Warriors Vice by Zeed Z666 Butcher by Dog Master Galf or Fang King Hogg by Soria or Hydra (black man), Alf (Black Man also) Slice by Mr Joker Morgan/Morgue by Amiba Tygor by Uighur Slicesaur (only one) by Souther Dr Fessenden 1 & 2 by Raoh(1) and Kaioh(2), the Ultimate Ruler of Century's End And? What do you think? comment me
NYC in 2513 theres WTC twin towers (maybe they will rebuilt it in the future?) and the world is underwater because of global warming. this game is prophetic
All characters have a special attack like that. Hannah does a rolling attack similar to blanka's roll attack . Jack has a jumping kick that goes at an angle of 45 degrees, Mess jumps up and falls on the enemy. However Mustapha's attack is by far the best. The best characters ingame (and there's no argument) are 1. Mustapha BY A LONG SHOT, Mess and Jack (pretty even depending on preference) and Hannah weakest. Everyone's FURY ATTACK was executed quickly tap down than up and attack button
As I see, you don't know that, when handling a grenade or a stone, if you dash first and, while dashing, you use the stone, the stone will hit all enemies in front of you, not just the first one. As well as the grenade, it will spreads fire against all enemies in front of you, not just the first enemies. In fact, at 00:38:10, when you find a stone and, casually, many enemies in just one straight line, if you run first and then release the stone.... STRIKE!!!!
Hannah is actually the best weapon user in the game. Without, she's pretty weak, though. Also: For a Capcom game, this game is surprisingly gory. Granted, it's nothing to write home about, but grenades that blow enemies into bloody pieces and occasional background elements of disemboweled dinosaur corpses are more than you'd expect from a typical Capcom game. Hell, the Punisher arcade cabinet had less blood.
I agree 100%. this is a fighting game, I tried to explain this to the guy on this comment section, and he insulted me and spammed my inbox. And he was the one to call you a nerd. Ironic isn't it?
Episodes: The Green Village (Episode 1) The Down-Town (Episode 2) Korean Temple (Episode 3) The Dead Ships (Episode 4) The Shipwreck (Episode 5) Inside The Sewer (Episode 6) Sky So High! (Episode 7) The Vault (Episode 8) Nuclear Radiotion Base 1 (Episode 9) Nuclear Radiotion Base 2 (Episode 10 Finale)
When these games came out I never thought graphics could get any better than this, and I was right.
This game is very underrated yet it influenced many other famous videogames that came after
one of the best ost ever made for a game!!Capcom simply rules '90s
This game has aged gracefully.
56:00 batalla final
59:00 fin de la batalla
12:00 toma ésa
FINAL UPPERCUT!!!!!
best super move ever love this game so much man it really brings my childhood memories back lol
Omg this game was 1 of the main reasons the arcade was my favorite spot every Saturday
This is the unofficial sequel to Jurassic World. :3
I was hopeless at fighting games, but I remember this in a cyprus or spanish arcade as a kid and I loved it. I got to either the small guy with the machine gun, or the lizard thing about a level later before I always died or ran out of cash lol. Loved the multiple health bars too
You do know the continue/game over screen, right?? "EAT LEAD, BABY!!"
Nobody did beat em ups better than Capcom.
And I love that Jack’s idea of protecting dinosaurs is to beat the living crap out of them.
You have to love a beat 'em up where you can punch a T-Rex in the face.
That's GOOD!! GO GO GO!!
In the TV show it implies that the dinos can be convinced to rage and attack people if mistreated. That's why the bad guys always attack them until they turn red. I'm guessing Jack knocks the wind out of them and they go back to being just placid animals.
Best quote of the game:
"XXXX YOU!"
When I played this game at arcades many years ago (before I learned swear words), when the butcher yelled that line, I thought he meant to use his swords to cut many Xs on the player's character.
But later I realised that was a censored swear word.
Se dice f**k you! Esa palabra soez solo era cuestión de tiempo no decirle malas palabras vayamos a caminos diferentes
"EAT LEAD, BABY!" is better
One of the best games ever in my childhood!
Sad, and possibly twisted as this may sound, but the part of the game called "Village on Fire" reminded me of that big fire that is going on right now over in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada.
Saw the title. Lmao had to click. Never even knew this game existed. Thats hilarious
One of the most funny and enjoiable games that was found on coin-op.
The last time i saw it, i were in the third year of secondary school, so... 1995. Damn, 18 year passed since the last time i saw this game in Arcade room!!! :-)
Great soundtrack.
Played this about seven years ago whilst on vacation in Corfu.
3:38 Compared to the other characters after winning a boss battle, this one is my favorite and then Hannah's
La música es increíble...
si es genial, si te das cuenta en el minuto 31:22 aparece blanka de street fighter
Today,04/12/2018,is the 10th year of the publication of this video!!! Game nostalgic as hell!!! 😎👊💥
That enemy Bludge is a paid homage to Blanka from Street Fighter.
.....ALRIGHT!! *sick stage clear jingle*
I remember that I watched the cartoon of Cadillac's and Dinosaurs when I was a kid and hated it, but the game is a masterpiece!
All riiiight!
Jack Tenrec is the man!
Si la serie es como buena por si acaso
Demne un like si te ha gustado los carros Cadillac clásicos de 1937 a 1952
I'll start this comment with a Spanish saying, "Aunque la mona se vista de seda, mona se queda," which is to say, "Even if a monkey dresses in silk, it's still a monkey." This saying will serve its role at the end of my comment.

I really wish this game can be on the PS4 PlayStation Network like most other Capcom Beat-‘em up games are.
The last time I saw this game was when I was 6 and I saw it in an arcade.
@jack brian yes mate!!!!
I don't remember the last time I saw this game! I had to be in my teenage years (when I was still hog wild about Vice T, but Spawn was up there too.)
Kwa-Hoon! this game still kicks ass
+journeymanX
The comic it is based off of is pretty darn good. I recommend hunting down a copy of "Xenozoic" (a complete collection of the main comic in one single book).
Ragitsu
i know what you mean but i stumbled upon the video game first then saw the cartoons, they need to turn this to a live action movie already
journeymanX
I'd take either a live-action adaptation OR an animated film (two-dimensional, of course) given love on par with Akira.
7:02
Jack: oh gross!! this time you've gone to slimeball
Butcher: **** you!
I love how you literally punch sense into the dinosaurs
Hannah Dundee is what mostly caught my interest in this game
+CosmicUndeadElf , I wish that there were female bosses and thugs in this game. There clearly were such people in both the comic book and cartoon. Honestly, this game should have also been four player as well like Captain Commando.
For me (a girl) it was Vice T. Even if he looked like Guile on drugs on the continue screen (which is why I thought he was hot as a kid.) But his official artwork is hot as heck!
52:15 - what to click to make such an attack?
Have you read all of the Xenozoic Tales comics?
Seems like an upgrade version of Final Fight. Another hit from Capcom, starring Blanka and his friends.
Some people need guns to fight dinosaurs. Those people are wusses. Jack defeats a T Rex with his only fist and don't even need to kill it.
old good times, too bad i used to play these games alone on the arcades
forever alone
i used to play the crap out of this game at the arcades.
Whoever's playing this game is a total bad-ass :). Thumbs up to whoever's playing.
That special move in the end of the Slice's level was preaty lucky :)
I train to play that game with 1 coin on hardest difficulty to its end. But till now i didnt manged that. Nice
Dark and violent continue and game over screens, profanity, and a little sex appeal, I miss those days in video games in the 80s and 90s when they weren't afraid to take risks.
Vice T's one-liner though... "EAT LEAD, BABY!"
best beatemup game of the century!! plus i always thought jack said 'finger licking good!'
31:22 Blanca ?
LoL I thought the same thing
The game is made by Capcom, so it's almost certainly an obvious Blanka reference.
duckpwnd
The perfect form of blanka
1:vice t
2:butcher
3:Hogg
4:slice
5:Morgan & morgue
6:tyrog
7silsaur
8:fesseden
one of the best soundtracks!
Does this game take place in the same universe as Street Fighter, like Captain Commando and Final Fight do?
I believe this game was based on the Cadillac and Dinosaurs cartoon, which in turn was based on an indie comic book called Xenozoic.
Punisher (Arcade), where you played as Frank Castle (The Punisher) and Nick Fury in a Final Fight-style beat-em up. It was a Capcom game.
Soundtracks are amazing on this game
I know that car probably only seats two, but - damn - leaving Mustapha and Mess to go on foot was a dick move, you guys.
Slice is one of the best designed bosses in all arcade games
one of the best beat em ups ever.
I would love this to be in a double pack with The Punisher for XBLA/ PSN/ and Wii U. With or without online play. I don't care, I really think these games are the pinnacle of the beat em up genre and improve on Final Fight in every single way.
This game has really good musics
DUUUUDE, GOBLINS AVATAR - YOU OWN! :)
I love the dino-Balrog in the final level.
Great game!! Is it true that it had no port for consoles?
No, not that I know of.
Why?! It's a great game! Maybe the only good consoles for it at that time would be Sega CD or Playstation 1.
For the genre this fits into, I have to say this is my favorite. Though in the end it comes down to this game and Alien vs Predator. It is close, but I'd still go with this game.

This came out 2 years after Street Fighter 2.
doesn't get more 90s than this
ScHlAuChi is one of cubex55's best gamers.
I love dat fake out at the end...
"XXXX YOU" - Greatest moment of the game
Nope, that's Vice T's one-liner "EAT LEAD, BABY!"
Hi, I have been trying to find this game for a long time. Can you tell me this game is on which console or platform.
Great gameplay but I think Mustapha (he is fastest and has best jump skills) or Mess (he is strongest and has longest range) are better than Jack.

Pretty cool if i do say so myself
Man, what was with games and the awesomely fugly bosses in the 90s?!
What would happen if there was a Hokuto No Ken's Beat' em Up video game like this? I change a little changes,
Main Characters:
Jack Tenrec by Kenshiro;
Hannah Dundee by Mamiya;
Mustapha Cairo by Rei;
Mess O'Bradovich by Toki;
Enemies:
Punks by HnK's Punks
Fat Punks by HnK's Fat Punks (Mr Heart, Sabato)
Swamp Punks by Fang Clan Warriors
Vice by Zeed Z666
Butcher by Dog Master Galf or Fang King
Hogg by Soria or Hydra (black man), Alf (Black Man also)
Slice by Mr Joker
Morgan/Morgue by Amiba
Tygor by Uighur
Slicesaur (only one) by Souther
Dr Fessenden 1 & 2 by Raoh(1) and Kaioh(2), the Ultimate Ruler of Century's End
And? What do you think? comment me
Play Violent Storm by Konami, It's the closest thing to a Hokuto No Ken Beat' em up. It's awesome.
I remember when I first heard In Flames' music in the 90's somehow it reminded me this game hahahahaha
"XXX You!" That's classic:-)
THAT'S GOOD!!
Sonic in the background: :'(
Idk which one was first but some of these thugs look or are the ones from captain commando.. Am I right?
+Jesse Rodriguez, many of the people that worked on this game also worked on Captain Commando.
One game I regret that I never saw in any arcade. I heard some great things about it, though.
I just heard about this game because my friend talked to me about like 1-2 years ago.
NYC in 2513 theres WTC twin towers (maybe they will rebuilt it in the future?) and the world is underwater because of global warming. this game is prophetic
FINAL UPPERCUT 0:35

Did the first level just start with a Tiger Uppercut?
What mame type are you using...????

voice sound from Night Slashers.
Time over = instant death... I didn't know that, I thought you simply got less bonus points at the end of the stage
Hahaha, I've never even heard of this game before. Looks really, really fun.
They need to bring beat em ups back.
好強哦~
而且還沒有掛掉...(雖然中間有兩次因為時間到而損命)
damn it costed a quarter to play a round and it was a real thrill not to die because I didn't have many of those when I was 7...
WHAT DIFFICULTY LEVEL IS IT?looks like piace of cake
Marvellously played against the slisaurs!!

No problem :)

why in the game Mustapha and Jack looks different than in cartoon?
Ask that to capcom, mister.
Apparently, Jack is from UK. At least judging by the way he's driving.
