They definitely improved the game flow and level design for the NES version. But there’s some cool concepts from the arcade I wish they’d been able to keep in. It’s too bad Bionic Commando didn’t get more development. It really could’ve been a classic series on par with Megaman.
Now, this is one of my favorite arcade games. I played this game on the Commodore 64, Amiga 500, NES and PlayStation 2 (Capcom Classic Collection). The game is hard but definitely awesome. And most of all, awesome longplay. Thank you! 🐱👍🕹️
I used to play this in cabinets in the late 1980s. I remember that it was a short game, so I realised that I was most likely to get my complete a game on hardest difficulty in Capcom arcade with BC. You made it look a lot easier than it is, though, through good reflexes and understanding the simple gameplay. What a shame that for lesser mortals you just start pissing sweat by later on in the stage and forget everything you've learned.
This gives me such a Ghosts'N Goblins vibe, the way main character and enemies move (their paths), the way enemies look down,.. almost like if they reused lots of game mechanics/engine and replaced the sprites etc, Did the same company make it?
Japanese Version: look at there they have funny-looking eyes and cute sprites North American Version: look at there they are edgy and have cool sprites
I love the cartoony and expressive designs for the enemy soldiers. Shame they couldn't really carry over to the NES due to technical limitations. It reminds me of TF2 in a way.
I love your content, and I have seen a lot of your videos, but, I have a question, why do you never upload nintendo games? or RUclips does not allow them? 😕
I would excuse the music more if it was still on a YM2203. This is pretty grating coming from a YM2151 (though to be fair, it is Capcom’s first soundtrack on the upgraded chip. Street Fighter later did more experiments with detune and by the time the CPS1 came out, they mastered it).
Always loved the soundtrack of Bionic Commando.

Mega man doesnt touch bionic commando
Phenomenal how you beat this game like a pro without dying once. You have my respect.

Excellent game and excellent player !!
Will always love this version.
Great classic !!!

Yep, Capcom made both games; Ghosts 'n Goblins was released in 1985 and Bionic Commando came out two years later.
@@electricyetis Also, the sprites were made by the same artist if I can remember correctly.
Bionic Commando Longplay (Arcade) [QHD]
Level 1 has some creatures that...look like their design was recycled for either Arma or Phalanx in Demon's Crest.

The Japanese version also had a more cartoony looking player character
@@solarflare9078 In that version, he looks like he got ripped straight from South Park.

Greatest final boss ever.

I can't recall this game for the arcade, it sounds like Phantasy star 4 took some music ques from this game.
Stage 3: *INFLTRATION*

Hello, can you tell me what graphics settings you run on your mame? Thanks in advance
Just so we're all on the same page, one of the pick-ups is a pack of cigarettes, yes? lol

Street Fighter II': Champion Edition Sega Master System
Clever game but I sucked at it. :(
I don't like this version. I like the NES version even more. The music bits in that one are a lot cuter.
