Thanks for posting this Darren. I've been eyeing the little Traeger Timberline for about a year now and I'm looking forward to you cooking on it. Especially the grilling function for steaks and burgers.
PS. I picked up the kindle edition of your book the other day and just finished. I'll post a review on Amazon before Christmas.

Beautiful Pellet smoker Looking forward to your future cooks. In this price Range I would like to see comparison with Yoder ys640, or Lonestargrillz new pellet smoker. I know Phil had mentioned he was eyeing a timberline. I'm curios with there new type of exhaust system if the smoke profile is more profuse. Happy Holidays

Really need to upgrade. I have an Eastwood 22 and love it, but the time has come to move up. I want to be able to cook a while suckling pig in there. I believe the 1300 is what I need

Darren, thanks for the walk-thru. It looks like a beauty. I know it is new. So, you will not have the answers just yet. However, I am interested in knowing a few things about it: What are the minimum and maximum temperatures that you can achieve with it? Does the pellet hopper always empty (are the walls steep enough so gravity always prevails)? Have you noticed a significant reduction in pellet consumption due to the double thick walls. Thanks in advance for considering my questions.

max tamp is around 500f.. minimum is around 160f.. I did pork butt at 160f with super smoke mode on for over 3 hours and it was great.. i can tell that it uses less pellets.. i have not noticed any issues with the pellets sticking to the sides so far. it has a thick gasket around the lid as well making it very efficient. smoke only goes out where is it supposed to.

@@FireWaterCooking Thanks for the quick reply. I am not familiar with super smoke mode. I have a smoke going on now. My Traeger is as low as it can go and the outdoor temperature is 45 degrees. I am holding a temperature of 105. I like being able to just smoke with it rather than cook. I was hoping the minimum of the new one could duplicate the smoking temperatures I can achieve with the older Traeger model. Of course, when it is 95 degrees outside, my minimum temperature for smoking raises considerably.

Do you still like it? $1,800 dollars still worth it? I have read a few complaints and found a few on sales at Craigslist. Thanks
