Pit Boss Competition Blend is quite a bit cheaper than Traeger pellets where I am in MA; $17 for 40lb vs $22-25 for 30lbs of Traeger’s Pro Blend. For a general use pellet, I use the PB Comp Blend.
Nice video on the big boy. I think I’ll stick with my Traegar Pro 575 since I rarely cook for more than 4 people. Besides, I could put that $3,500 to better use.
Ricer I like using a drip pan, foil pan to catch all the dripping. To make that liquid gold. You think you could put a shallow pan under the bottom grate? Looks like a small space. Also how good does it hold heat in the cold WI months?
Ya I think a shorter pan could fit under there or you can just use the top rack for your meat!!??!! The chamber being double walled, helps a lot in the cold! Thanks for watching!
Apparently I missed this video. Great review. But considering the price I'd just rather go with the Lonstargrillz pellet cooker. Ricer may you and your family enjoy the holiday weekend. 🎅👍🎄
@@SmokedBBQSource I appreciate the feedback. I’ve cooked with charcoal for years but I work a lot of hours and have been looking at pellet stoves. I needs the smoke.
FANTASTIC VIDEO ....NEW TO THE TRAEGAR(IRONWOOD 650)....I NEED MORE EXPERIENCE TO JUSTIFY THE MONEY FOR THAT SUPER MACHINE ...I LIKED WHAT YOU EXPLAIN AND REVIEWED
I just got the smaller timberline yesterday. Local guy had it for $1500 used but amazing condition. He only used it 6-7 times. Watching this during the shrimp part is the open flame normal?? I was 50/50 of this vs my green egg because of the direct cook ability
You can bake in it! Just rotate the product!! Grilling is fine, just got to crank it up and preheat it for a while so those grates get nice and hot! Thanks for watching!
Oh I am still a big Pit Boss fan!! They just haven't sent me any of their new pits in a couple years!! The new Traeger's are very nice but pricy!! Thanks for watching!
Have you had any flare ups? I had 2 grease fires in mine XL. Last one was doing 70 lbs of pork butt. Seems like the drip tray doesn’t run everything down the hole as intended
I have had 1 flare up in the past but now I just make sure it is clean good between the 2 cooking liners. I agree though, grease builds up and does not make it all the way to the grease and ash keg! Thanks for watching!
I have the timberline 1300 and it is absolutely awful. Constant issues with not starting. Had the rep to the house and they moved the igniter 1/2 inch and it still has issues. As far as grilling it will not grill a steak properly even though they profess it will. The rep said I had to put towels and blankets over the unit to get it above 400 degrees in the summer. Good luck if you buy one I have had nothing but issues for a $2500 grill
100% the Lone Star Grillz, still the best pellet grill I have ran to date!!! Made to last forever and smokes more than the rest!!! Thanks for watching!!!
Agree Rusty!! I wish it was a tad cheaper myself but in the past year this pit really has done a pretty dang good job! Thanks for coming over and checking out the video brother!!
Just skip the Traeger. I had a Traeger Timberline and it was a lemon. I cleaned it after every cook, taking good care of it because I spent so much on it. Despite my efforts, it was a fire hazard from day one, not to mention all the other things that broke. I worked with the company for a few months until they said they couldn’t do any more because I was stationed in Japan. They promised to replace the grill once I got stateside. When I did, they told me to get bent.
@@SmokedBBQSource I understand things sometimes are lemons, but I had a transcript of their guarantee and they still didn't help me. The only reason I didn't take it back to the BX was because I trusted them. I felt pretty hopeless. Very expensive paper weight. Glad yours works great, I hope it stays that way! I still haven't replaced mine, been a little trigger shy.
Ya Traeger has this one priced high! I am also a big fan of the Traeger Ironwood and that has pretty much the same features, just smaller!! Thanks for watching!

Great review Jeff! Looks like a solid pit for sure!
Heck ya Rus!!! I am very happy how this pit preforms! Thanks for watching brother!!!
Agree 💯%
Nice review Ricer. Like it when you guys do a follow up review after spending some time with a pit. Thanks!
Thanks Troy!!! We hope to do more of these types of videos in the future!!! Lke always, I appreciate you watching!!!
Did anyone notice the Pit Boss pellet bag he was using to fill the hopper? I’m was just curious.
I use whatever pellets I have on hand.

Super review Jeff! Always interesting and informative, cheers brother 🍻
Thanks George and I appreciate that you always follow and watch my videos brother!!

Completely understand that!!!! This is their flagship pit and nothing wrong with a Pro 575!! Thanks for watching!!
Wow, you cook some awesome food there Jeff.
Thank you Brian!!!! I appreciate you coming over and watching the video! You will see more from me here too in the near future!!!
Thanks Jeff - Yeah, it's a beast! - Great review - Cheers!
Heck ya Garry!! Thanks for coming over and checking it out brother!!

Good lookin' pit right there...throw some smoke in 2024! 🔥🔥🥩🥩
Heck ya brother!!!! Going to be a lot of smoke rolling in 2024!!! Thanks for coming over and watching!!
Best review for this pellet grill
Thanks, I appreciate that!!

I agree Victor and Merry Christmas to you brother!!!
Thank u for this video! Because of you. This grill is as good as bought!!
Glad I could help and thanks for watching!!
excellent review
Thanks and I appreciate you watching!!!
Anyone tried putting some silicone mats or foil on the bottom for easier clean up?
Meh, it doesn't take that long to scrape it up. But you can try if you want.

Awesome video! Can we get the same update on the LSG pellet?
It is still running like a champ! I did a top 5 video on Dead Broke BBQ where I chit chat about the LSG. Thanks for watching!!
I’d love to see you do a comparison with the timberline xl vs the yoder ys640s
I hope to someday get one here in the studio!!! Thanks for watching!!
@ I broke down and bought the Timberline XL. Only two small cooks on it so far but the kids said tonight’s beef ribs were the best they ever had.
I just got the smaller timberline yesterday. Local guy had it for $1500 used but amazing condition. He only used it 6-7 times. Watching this during the shrimp part is the open flame normal?? I was 50/50 of this vs my green egg because of the direct cook ability
If you get it hot enough, anything will flare up with a butter sauce on it! Enjoy the new pit!!!
Nice video 👍 I just bought 1 from the LA County fair. Have you tried baking in it ? how well does the grill function work?
You can bake in it! Just rotate the product!! Grilling is fine, just got to crank it up and preheat it for a while so those grates get nice and hot! Thanks for watching!
My boy Jeff the great question is switched to traeger when i have pit boss like 4 years in the row ?
Oh I am still a big Pit Boss fan!! They just haven't sent me any of their new pits in a couple years!! The new Traeger's are very nice but pricy!! Thanks for watching!
@SmokedBBQSource thanks brother I still keep my Boss waiting for new updates.

I have had several Traeger pits and never really had any issues with any of mine. Sucks yours is not running good, thanks for watching!
What handheld thermometer are you using it looks exactly like what I’m looking for.
I use either a Thermoworks One of a Fireboard Spark. Thanks for watching!
I think I have asked this before to someone. For that price would you not rather have lone star pellet grill ?? Asking for a friend?
I personally would pick the LSG because the body is going to last forever. Thanks for watching!!
How does it compare to the Lonestar pellet grill?
It doesn't but great for a box store pit! Thanks for watching!
Jeff can you do the new pitboss titan vs the ironwood
We do not have the Pit Boss Titan, hopefully we see one soon! Thanks for watching!!
I'm on the fence between the timberline/ironwood or the lone star/yoder. Thoughts?
100% the Lone Star Grillz, still the best pellet grill I have ran to date!!! Made to last forever and smokes more than the rest!!! Thanks for watching!!!
@@SmokedBBQSource thank you sir
Great review .. but really, $3800? I’d go for the LoneStar instead.
Great review but at the price I’d probably look at a couple others instead.
Completely understand!! Thanks for watching!!
Looks very nice but no way i could ever justify that purchase as I don’t know enough people to cook for 😂
Completely understand!!! Plenty of different brands and models out there for everyone!! Thanks for watching!
if im dropping over 2k on a pg its gonna be an lsg
Ya, that would be a great choice!!!
Great pit but the price 😢 well done video
Agree Rusty!! I wish it was a tad cheaper myself but in the past year this pit really has done a pretty dang good job! Thanks for coming over and checking out the video brother!!

yeah when you dont have to pay for it of course you're to give an extremely bias opinion.
