    Thanks, Damon. I have been searching on RUclips for a non biased opinion of Traeger Grills. Thank you for your honesty and opinion. Trying to decide between a Traeger and a Rec Tec. You have a new fan.

    Absolutely brilliant! I’m getting really close to deciding on which model is best for me and your great review helped out a lot.
    Looking forward to making some elk summer sausage on it, now that you brought it up.
    Cheers!

    The graph of the cook is an absolute genius idea. And can't be all that difficult to implement. Another thing is to have a cook history where it could keep data and notes from previous cooks so you can look back to remember things.

      Thanks so much. The graph isn't from the smoker's software. I have a nice Thermoworks remote thermometer that comes with graphing capacity.

    Fantastic review!!! Exactly what I was looking for. I think you sold a smoker!
    I did see another steak cook on the same smoker where they used added grates in the bottom for a sear. Seemed to work well.
    Thanks again for the great review.

    Hi, great video! I was going to purchase the Timberline 850 and was just at Costco. They have a Traeger Silverton 810 made only for Costco for a better price point but the grills are porcelain(2only) and I don’t think the lid is double insulated. Would appreciate your thoughts on which to go with as I’m in snowy Ottawa. Thx

    • @OldfatguyCa
      @OldfatguyCa  2 года назад

      It is sort of like choosing between an economy car and a luxury car. The Silverton will do a good job of smoking and grilling but doesn't have the bells and whistles. The double sided compartment is definitely nice for winter smoking. Also, the Silverton doesn't have as accurate a controller and will have wider temperature swings. There are a lot of other nice to have in the Timberline like the super smoke setting and a more even heat through the chamber.

    Get a inferno by northfire for searing
    1500 degree searing for a minute then throw steak on the traeger for some flavour
    Thats the best
