      Its will be awesome, Im a medical student and in my classes I take a lot of notes and need to read a lot of books with so much images or the books are just made more friendly design with colors, diagrams. When you have a black -white device you definitely lost that detail, we need color to highlight and we need the color when we read

      Maybe if it came out a decade ago... this is one of those things people buy, use for a few weeks and then never use again. One Note/SharePoint is way better for students since you can work on notes together. And if you want to hand write j get a tablet. It does look super satisfying to draw on though

    I don't know why they don't throw in e-reader functionality like long pressing and a dictionary.

    • @selderane
      @selderane 3 года назад +12

      Because that's additional money for programming, testing, and updating, and a further step away from the core purpose of the product?
      If you're not sold on the core idea, a dictionary for the e-reader isn't going to do it for you. And if you are sold on the core idea, not having that isn't a dealbreaker.

      BooX Note Air is a nice alternative if you want both note taking device and feature-rich e-reader. Apparently the reMarkable is not addressing that market. The Note Air syncs with Evernote, but does not have the paper feel out-of-the-box.

    • @joshsabin4431

      I assume it’s because it’s not made for reading books as much as it is for drawing and writing. Most of the time, you don’t really need to define a word if you’ve written it. You usually know what it means when you write something.

      Allen C precisely my complaint. They seem far too concerned with looks and hardware elegance over software and functionality. reMarkable 2 doesn't solve any problems with the original device and it doesn't look like their focus is on fixing any of those problems, so it looks like I'll be returning mine

      Light is NOT something you want... Prioritizing writing is eink just underneath the pen with no glass in between! The glass would be needed to spread the light. You don't want that. Also the eye strain comes from lighting, it is just way better to illuminate your surroundings!!!

    • @dandovueltas1

      @@Anita95_original but, the kindle paperwhitr have glass given it has light? I don't think so

    • @Anita95_original
      @Anita95_original 4 года назад +22

      @@dandovueltas1 You need something, glass or plastic, that spreads the light. If you try to just illuminate it from the sides it will not be uniform and the middle will get no light. To spread the light you need thickness and a conduit to lead the light into the middle of the display and leak light down into the reflective display. No matter how you try to do this it will require a thickness and THIS will separate your pen and the visual surface you are "writing" on.
      For me, this has nothing to do with price or "2020". This is one of many design decisions the Remarkable have done that some do not like but will give a better writing experience.
      Illuminate the room. If you cannot see what you write on paper, you will not see what you write on Remarkable. For me this is perfectly allright.

      @@MD-mh2bj File transfer is not as complicated as stated in the video. You can either use the remarkable software to just drag and drop files onto the device and it will transfer over the cloud. Or if you dont want to use the cloud system you can go into the settings and enable the web interface, then you can just navigate to its web page when connected via usb and drag & drop to transfer.

    If it goes out for such a high price ($400) I would instead buy an 7th gen iPad with pencil and paperlike screen protector (around $30 more expensive), I mean you won't have the same feeling at the writing but at least you will have the option to write with different colous which is a very high priority thing for me as my notes are all color coded, plus you have a fully functional device that can browse the internet, watch movies, create presentations etc. This would be a must buy if it retailed at around $100-$150

    It's not true that you need the pc and remarkable opened at same time. You can upload your files on the PC or mobile app and when you connect wifi in remarkable, automatically check the changes with your cloud library. If they are new books/ files or you delete anything, the remarkable library updates to show that changes. So glad I cancelled my order and got the iPad Air instead. I was so infatuated with the remarkable 2 but honestly the iPad has too many productivity advantages it’s hard to justify the same price tag. There’s absolutely no way this device could keep up in lecture note taking.

    Needs frontlight, color e-ink, and 13.3". Until we get these three things in an eink device, the bigger iPad Pro is the best PDF reader. I have owned SONY DPT-RP1, Remarkable 1, various Kindle devices and Onyx Boox Note 2. They all failed for PDF reading for the lack of all 3 features.

    I was a big fan of ReMarkable and like ReMarkable 2. My issue is that the pen is held on magnetically, not very securely and the tip is more fragile so the pen can fall and damage the tip -- or get lost! Perhaps they could make the pen attach on the INSIDE of the case.

    • @dandavidson4717
      @dandavidson4717 4 года назад +2

      E-ink, long battery life, distraction free. Those three things can be incredibly valuable in the right situation.
      I have an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, but if I was back at university I'd still strongly consider the ReMarkable alongside it. The greater focus, no reflection display, and battery life would all have been fantastic for lectures.
      Beyond that, it would also have been great to take outdoors in the fresh air and natural light and still be able to get some revision done.
      There is some overlap, but the unique capabilities I listed is enough to set it apart - it'd only have to make me slightly more efficient, or slightly more focused, or save me a small amount of time, or reduce my stress by a small amount, to be worth it.

The pen register contact with the face without contacting making normal clear writing impossible - something never seen with ReMarkable 1.
