Where on Earth did you look? I got everything off their official site and my pen was only $50 for the one with the eraser! I'm in the US if that makes a difference, I bought mine close to their initial launch of the 2 a few years ago. Try again during the holidays, maybe? Also, yes it is a bit of an initial investment but I promise you the price evens out. Never having to buy any more paper or notebooks is the best feeling ever. I have no paper in my room except for the mail that comes in. Everything saves automatically to their cloud and even if you have to get a whole new notebook, like I had to, all your files remain in their cloud and are still accessible on the new device.
I only had to get a new one because it fell out of my backpack and landed right on the power button/ permanently pushed it in. It wasn't any issue on their end. My stupid backpack strap got stuck on my parking brake when I was exiting my vehicle and yanked it to the ground. I annoyingly didn't notice the strap was stuck until it was too late. I literally never go anywhere without my ReMarkable 2, it is the best thing I ever invested in and I can't live without it. I got a different backpack/ briefcase/ purse combo that fits the size of my ReMarkable 2 perfectly, so I don't have to worry about having that issue recreated.
What he didn't show is that you can highlight as well as change what tool you are writing with. It literally has a calligraphy pen, marker, mechanical pencil, ballpoint pen, fine liner, regular pencil, and paintbrush. You can change the size of each to small, medium, or large. As well as the color to black, gray, and white. You can see the colors in the cloud version of the notebooks.
Also, you can create notebooks, folders, and quick sheets. You can tag items, and send files to your email. When you create notebooks you can name them and have it default to either the last page visited, or the first page of the notebook when you click on it. Also, there are SO MANY TEMPLATES for the notebooks: grids, planners, perspective pages, music pages, bass tab charts, guitar chord charts, piano sheet music in varying sizes, dot pages, day planners, checklists, storyboard pages, etc. I swear it is worth it. I have a friend who has one as well and she tells everyone about hers also, they are in fact ReMarkable 😂

E-ink tablets are definitely taking off. I went paperless last year with some trepidation because as someone who journals every day and writes for a living, that feeling of putting pencil to paper and that scratchy sound really helps get me into focus. I wavered between the reMarkable and the Onyx Book Nova Air C and decided on the latter because it had more tablet functions and it was in colour, which is good for reading comics and categorising your note-taking.

    • @komali2
      @komali2 5 месяцев назад +4

@@paulsalomait's not as fast as paper notebook, of course. Nothing will beat speed of page flipping through a paper book on one side of your desk and paper notebook on other side of your desk. However it's fast enough when considering you can mark up an epub or PDF, export the notes to pdf, and it's backed up and instantly available on all your devices. Or your handwritten pure notes (not pdf or epub markups) are automatically backed up on close to pdf and if you use syncthing sent wherever you want. As someone that lost years of journals to hurricane damage, that peace of mind is immeasurably valuable.
Not to mention with the onyx boox, you can have a couple thousand books on hand. I chew through books like a rat through cheese so if I went on a trip with paperbacks I'd have to fill my bag with books. No fun.

I wanted to go paperless, and actually have been for some time, but I'm over the awful apps for note taking. My favorite one GoodNotes barely doing updates while charging for a full new app version and is ultimately transitioning to a subscription model.
I shouldn't have to paper a subscription for a virtual notebook. It's ridiculous.

So their whole idea on selling this product is to sell you the concept of discipline? Of course people are going to use it because people paid a significant amount of money just to own it, it helps people justify it when in reality its a bad deal, a 300 page journal and a pen can last a year with just a fraction of the price that this thing is on, and modern tablets has focused features or can be calibrated to be more productive focused if a person really has to.
If this industry can somehow cater to creative professionals instead of the average joe taking notes like what Display tablets did back in the 2010s then it'll be really profitable instead of selling something that is imaginary.

we took them out to set it and inventory it... it was a real amazing experience.. all 8 of us IT guys were impressed with the screen, writing/pen response and the simplicity of it...

@Trendnet18 Sorry. What exactly do you mean by "slow down"? I am using iPad Pro 11-inch - 2nd generation since its release in 2020 so more than 3,5 years without any issue, hickups or slow down, and it is my daily device for consuming media. The same is for iPad Mini 6 which my son is using daily and my wife's iPad Air 4 from 2020. I am not sure about Samsung as my last Android phone was indeed Samsung Galaxy S3 - which has such behaviour, but it was because of Android at that time. As for this device Remarkable 2 it is clean and perfect for its specific purpose, but it might be expensive for some customers who want such device.

I had one briefly. Far too often i was wanting it to do more. I have a galaxy tab now, which i believe, does all the Remarkable does and so much more. Maybe not paperlike, but at least i dont have to sacrifice a whole load of shortfalls. My wife though, loves her Remarkable.

Same. I have a Galaxy Tab with the S pen because I take notes *right on* the slides that the professor puts on Blackboard, because it's all in one place, and the Samsung Notes syncs right with my phone. I like the fact that it's frictionless writing, and it's the reason why I ditched paper to begin with as I have carpal tunnel and other hand problems.
And COLOR. I really like to use, and need 3+ different colors and highlighters when I'm writing my notes. And I got the tablet for like $150 Canadian or something cheap like that.

As well, I am hypermobile with ALOT of pain so I couldn't carry my drawing tablet around with me because of how much pieces and weight it was. I love to see products like this exist even if some people think it's a gimmick; it isn't for people like me who struggle with day to day activity.

I HIGHLY recommend it!! I have several disabilities. I'm 100% legally blind without my glasses so I understand the eye strain issue. I have many previous injuries such as Carpal Tunnel but was severely re-injured at my last job. I developed really terrible Tendonitis to the point where my hands swell and I've woken up crying because of how much pain I'm in some days. To name just a few of my issues, I also used to get headaches/ migraines frequently and am at a computer 24/7. This has helped me out so much when my eyes are in too much pain I'll take a break from my computer to write on my ReMarkable 2.
It's so light that even I can and do carry it with me everywhere. I literally got a backpack/ purse specifically a certain size so that it can fit my ReMarkable2. I never go anywhere without it, my Kindle, my phone, and my wrist braces and inhaler, of course. I even keep it right next to my bed in case writing inspiration hits. When you create notebooks there are so many different types of page templates to save you time and effort too that it makes things easier for people who's hands tire out due to injuries as well. They have dot pages, grids, music sheets, guitar tab pages, perspective pages for drawing, hexagon grids, daily planners, checklist pages, and so many more. The lines and everything are pre-done for you so you can quickly fill everything in. Also, everything instantly saves to the cloud, and even if you get a new notebook, which I've had to because I accidentally dropped my 1st one on the power button, all your files instantly are still in the new one. They transfer so you lose nothing!
I have a Kindle too which also has an E-ink display but I use my ReMarkable even as a backup for that. Because you can zoom so far into the text, it's phenomenal. You can also take notes on the files you have on it and highlight things too. You can even sign documents too! If I could list all the benefits of it and the great things it can do, I could write quite a few pages worth lol

I like my Kindle Scribe. It may not have all the editing or drawing features of the Remarkable yet, but it does let you sketch or take notes and I have access to all my Kindle books for reading. I wanted the larger screen mainly since I buy computer books or PDFs and the screen is great for those. I found that reading fiction on the larger screen is also a nicer experience since you need less page turns. The notebook features are handy and the feel when writing is great, but for note taking for my work, I still prefer my iPad and OneNote. The organization and syncing in OneNote is far more flexible.

Few people wanted to pay subscription fees, that's why they dropped the price on the subscription last year. The subscription paywall for features was one of the most frequent complaints about the product. I think $300 is fair for these, the accessories are super overpriced though. Instead of implementing thousands of regulations and pushing society towards electric cars, it would be better to first finance all schools to stop using billions of tons of paper, which requires cutting down trees, and to introduce mandatory tablets for each student!

If you agree to support the cost of the tablets for the first 5 years, then we will think about it.
What's your solution to plastic pollution btw. As per your logic we certainly can't replace disposable plastic bags with disposable paper bags

It’s a bit more than a 2 year old product. They wanna sell the leftover inventory before the release the new one.

Imagine how useful this can be for schools. Instead of carrying hundreds of books throughout school years & university, this simply can be all those books & notebooks. This can truly help environment.

Because all the e-waste and excessive mining for electronics is so much better than recycling paper lmao

@@user-tb2uz5mu8l It's not like those paper get recylced all the time (most of them are just thrown away as a trash & then get burnt later on), & there's no need for e-waste when you can use a decent version of these (which'll come out soon) for multiple generations if kept properly.

Same as the first model. Being a pen paper user for every single work project, the utility of the Device doesn't justify the price... I have a ebook... I would love to take notes and make some sketches on it... But... I already have almost everything on my phone or desktop so having a remarkable feels more like a gimmick than an upgrade 🤷‍♂️

Adds up, I had stacks of yellow legal pads, I’d recommend these, especially if you’re always moving around or traveling
