- We are back!
We messed up the sound on the intro and Ill post tomorrow what we have been nominated for!
Fire away with the questions, roof next so if you need to know anything, go for it and ill try to answer for you.
If you haven't bought a ticket for the pod yet, Why NOT?
Great to see jen back in the team 👏 😀
Where'd she go then?
Wow! I didn't expect to see these build videos again but I'm so glad you're all back. The advice you give is invaluable and appreciate the time you take to do these videos. I voted a couple of days ago for you all and wish you all the best. This is the exact size I'm intending to build in our garden so look forward to see how it goes. Welcome back Jen 👍🏾
You guys are perpetual motion...
Your leadership and motivational approach to your team hits the right balance between camaraderie and functionality..
I feel exhausted just watching your vids..
Keep up the excellent work and good luck with the nomination for the award.
good to see you back mate whos the pretty bird ???
I really appreciate your time and efforts in the videos you make Liam. You've been a massive inspiration to me in building my garden room mate! Thank you. Keep up the great work in sharing your knowledge.
A brilliant video giving me loads of practical tips for my shed build. I cannot believe people give you hassle for explaining not just 'what' you do but more importantly 'why' you do it. Thanks for the all the advice. 👍
Liam, because of videos that you an your team do it helped me build my own little space/ pub in the garden. And that's what the videos are done for, to help those who wanna self build. I didnt no a thing when I started but kept watching video after video and eventually trial and error I learnt what worked and what didn't for me. I went down the pallet route to start with and we had some awful weather so they ended up being no good. But eventually I got it built and its done its purpose for 2 years now and is still spot on, i have bits i wanna change and still have bits to finish. I took close to 500 pictures and videos of the work to look back on aswell or show people who asked about it. So your videos help the likes of people like myself who have no clue but wanna give somat a go. (Because of you I'm considering a camper conversion now 🤣) anyway keep up the good work. 👏 👍
Highlight of the show has to be that Jen's BACK!!!
Welcome back! Inspirational stuff for us new smallholders trying to get by on limited funds, well done 👍
Hey Guys, just a word of encouragement from a viewer, you have inspired me to build my own garden office. So ignore any negative comments, people just love to moan and pick holes online. Keep up the good work, know how long these take to make!
Looking forward to this build, I’m in the process of insulating mine. I’ve been told not to put insulation direct onto the back of the board but to leave an air gap, before I board onto it.
Jens hair ❤️
Absolure great videos and explanation. You and the team are bloody exceptional
She is stunning 😍
she is BACK........ good to see ya girl 🙂
Where has Jen been Iv not been on here as much lately probs because like Liam said he’s not been doing as many videos etc.
Well Liam … great team for sure … Jen was only one prepped for summer 😂… anywho….. great vid …. To the point and quick … looking forward to next part of the build 🍻👏👏👏
Good to see you and the team back Liam. Keep up the amazing work 💪🏽💪🏽
Brilliant great to see you back and Jen great to watch great tradesman and well explained
Liam that glue sets with moisture so by taping it there is no moisture getting to it so if your gonna tape it spray it with water first👍🏻
Great vid aswell mate I love the process.
was still wet this morning 😭, all sorted now, ill spray next time though!
Welcome back team, really happy to see you all. Cracking build once more :)
Class man.... Your very generous showing how its done. Could save a lot of head aches! Price up from from £30 a bottle to £20. That's something I'd say 😂 also I like how your building size is the internal dimensions. Not like the other firms that would be your outside dimensions.
I’m building a workshop for the first time to a similar spec…..I started off with the anal approach of making every detail perfect but quickly realised I was wasting my time. If it’s in the fabric of the building it just needs to serve it’s purpose. I’ll put more time and effort into the parts that can be seen on the outside like cladding. I’ll still be building it in 10 years otherwise. Great video guys 👍
Brill as always. What about using a forstner drill bit to recess the nut holes on the 4x3 instead of chainsaw? Use the forsnter bit first then use the 25mm bit second.
Hello, I think I am addicted to watching your videos, no wait I am, and I am all caught up and was great to see another episode this morning.
I am planning on doing a build at some point, just because I have to, not because I need a garden room. I find the videos are relaxing and valuable.
One quick question looking at todays video, you start directly from the laying of the timber floor structure, can you do a video on setting out the rodding please? Are there specifications to where they need to be, what size of rods are required an what depth they go into the ground? What cement, post Crete is used etc? Can you show a rod install and they placement. :)
Great material, great guy, you should offer a training camp, I might want to change profession or some franchise option , I could be building garden rooms in Scotland. Thanks again.
Can you hurry up and get the next video up please ;)
Nice to see you all back, have a good year 👍👍👍👍
Nice to have the Oakwood team back ….. dropped a vote for you 👍
No nonsense approach! As it should be. Carcassing is not a time to be precious and anal, ESPECIALLY when you have employees all around you. Finesse is for finishing. I have traditionally used blocks/mortar pillars but I'm gonna use the threaded rod method on my build!!! Been chippying 33 years but I'll always learn! TY!
Really nice to see a girl grafting with real life skills, & not just seeing another boring so called influencer.
She’s a grafter alright
To sit the nut into the floor plate use a 32mm spade bit 1st to the depth of the nut and then the 25mm spade to push the hole of the rod all the way through? Much faster and neater than hacking out the top of the plate ? An excellent method using the threaded rod instead of pad stone or slab - ill definitely be looking into this ...
The Chainsaw all day long,,, No question 👍🏻🇬🇧
You make it look easy , FAB work
Great Videos Health and Safety First Guys!! You only have one pair of eyes wear your safety glasses!!
Good to see you're energy back Liam, keep it up. Ps I've voted 👍
A clear example of Japanese carpentry precision versus productivity.
Jesus Christ fella, exhausted just listening to you! You are a legend fella! Never stop, its entertaining, instructive, knowledgeable, practical and above all achievable by us mere mortals! AND, your quips keep me smiling throughout!
Any knobhead making disparaging remarks - send me a PM 'n I'll use a certain set of skills - to make em, like those tools lost under the insulation, disappear!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant!
Lovin the pink socks! 😂
Fantastic little video
Good to see the team on it and the speed you put it all together is fantastic.
Where did Jen go? Extended holiday?
Just catching up! Fantastic as always…..plus a Missy Elliott reference 😂😂
welcome back Liam and your team too
Totally agree milwaukee all they way expensive but worth it
Hiya Liam nice to see you and the gang back
How everyone’s well what’s the news on the van
👍👍👍
Actually missed your show😊 happy new year
Lock your tape of on your mesure saves your finger on the edge
They are back! Whohooo! 👌👏👏👏👏
10:15 why dont you use a big spade bit that is the diameter of the nut up to a certain depth and then complete with the narrower spade bit for just to rod diameter.
Good morning Liam and the team
love you guys.
Hi Liam, great to see your videos up and running again, have you though about using a router with a bearing guide to cut the notches/create the space for the nuts on the sill plate? Could be a touch quicker than the chainsaw!
Yeah, tried it mate, chainsaw rules 🤗
Great content and detail.crqcking job. With prices rising ,what are you looking at for total price of this particular build?
Congratulation Jen
I have missed you guys!
John switching to makita sad day unless its the 40v there pretty cool
Milwaukee fan bois are hilarious.
Someone has definitely pressed the Super Frizzy button on the hair twirlers ...
That's natural hair curls. Straight haired girls like me can't achieve that, boy have i tried. I wish i had big beautiful hair like hers.
I recommend Milwaukee pz2 bits been the best for me so far only had 1 snap on 130mm screws. don't know if you've tried them
Welcome back legends!
Can’t knock your work, but please get some chain saw PPE and go on a course. Boots and trousers at the very least. Hope your insurance company don’t see this video 😂.
Not one Fuxk given 😂😂😂 love it Liam
Never, keeping it real! its why I don't get sponsorship, send me a product, if its crap, ill not lie
@@thegardenroomguru that’s why we are here 👏👏
Awesome to see you back gang love it
The beaut is back? Or did she never really went away ?
smart ass comments pmsl love it say it like it is 👍
Hello Liam , Firstly i would like to say thanking you for all those videos and information how to build a Garden Room. My question to you is : If i would use this type of construction and install garage door , for the insurance propose this will class as a garage ? Reason im asking you is , i have heard Garage is when is build from concrete or brick walls this is maninly for motorcycle insurance. Or this still will be calass as a garage. Thank you for your reply.
Savage work lads 👌
More Jenny 😁
I was getting withdrawal symptoms as its been a while since the last video. Im dosed up again now!
Hi. No nonsense as usual. Great work, loads of tips! One question, do you have a link to the competition so we can vote?
I’ll post it tonight mate
Great vid mate. Thanks for uploading. Did you use treated C16/C24 timber in the wall frame too?
Hi,,I’ve got a concrete base for a 12+9 buy want to build one similar to yours,,I’m wondering if you have and videos where you have built one on a base but bigger than a concrete base if that makes any sense,,I want a 15ft wide one but my base is only 9ft wide 👍👍👍👍
Would you get away with smooth nails instead of ring-cut for the wall OSB?
Cut all your threaded bars the same height with a laser, then use cups on your threaded bar locked down and screw from the side into the joists, no need to drill all those pesky holes and cutouts for nuts. Are the joist hangers a bit overkill? Nails have worked for hundreds of years
ill build the garden rooms mate, you do what ever it is you do. They don't nail the floor joists in a new house, its progression
@@thegardenroomguru just trying to save you hassle bud all good
Too much movement mate, it’s timber framed and I’ve gotta give a warranty on it, I’d love to Paslode the hell out of them, but I know the floor would sound like a mouse choir in a month or two 🫣
Link to vote not in description Liam. First thing I went to look for at end of video. Cheers matt
tonight mate
Screwfix do a shorter hanger that you don’t need to trim or overlap
You could make a template for the nut cutout no need for all the squares
Why don't you use drill bit the size of the nut down to the nut height and the use the right size for the bar, much quicker !!!
Great video, Where did you get the top handle chainsaw from?
do you use fire rated cladding because its near the fence ? getting confused on regulations ?
Doesn’t use a nail gun on joist hangers because it costs more whilst taking five times longer to nail them by hand. This makes absolutely no sense!
Thermal bridging is in no way affected by packing it with rock wool. The cold transfers through the steel not the air in the middle.
No ear pro or eye pro whilst using a nail gun.
Microphone = No shouting required.
Great finished product though. Bloody nicely done!
If you just used a forstner drill bit for countersinking the nut first before the spade bit you’d be done in 5 seconds
I’m confused as to what people actually listen to when I do these videos, I’ve explained many times why we don’t use a forstner bit. It’s just another thing we don’t need to be buying or carrying around, also, the nut can’t be wound down if we don’t have the bar Ronnie made for us. I’m not being funny about this reply, I’ve just heard the comment too many times
Looking for a job in garden room construction from Swindon
42:55 - Ouch... Shinbuster
I'm going to be purchasing a build pack from you. As I'll be doing this project as a weekend warrior will it matter if the framing gets wet from rain occasionally? Or would you advise covering it up with something when I'm not working on it?
The materials will take a bit of rain no problem, but i think the issue would be the working area around the build will be wet and if it's a lawn for example it's going to get real messy and the lawn ruined. I work outside a lot in my job and wet ground just isn't nice to work on.. I know it's hard looking for a dry spell in the UK but i would wait for when you know the weather should be decent.
What's the name of the rod / shoe ground fixing kit thanks and where can I buy it thanks
Hi could you please advise what is tolerance on timber frame structure? I mean in height is it 5mm every 1m? Thanks in advance
This is why you never lend out your chisel
Is there a reason you don't use a common top flange hanger without the extra long tails? A Simpson Strong-Tie HU36TF for instance? the flanges would probable not interfere with the opposing joist needing to offset the layout.
we use the hangers for multiple uses and the ones we use fit the bill and are cost effective.
Thanks f&@k you are posting again .been bored shitless without the vids 👍🏼
Liam we need the link in the description for the Yorkshire awards voting page
Tonight’s episode mate
Heart attack imminent
Not for me mate, I’m doing ok, more likely to have one in bed 👌
Have you guys tried wera impaktor pz2 bits? Definitely the best I’ve ever used. 4 weeks in and not broken one yet. I’ve been using them mainly on 100mm screws.
Yeah, tried most, I think it’s the screw being too hard maybe?
Use 2 combi drills 😂😂
Great video, I’m obsessed with this rod system. Would the rod system be sufficient for a bigger shed maybe 8x4?
I believe it can be used for any size you like…you’ll just need more rods.
@@chrisb2443 that’s good to hear
any size at all mate,
@@thegardenroomguru brilliant! Thank you
I built a garden room and i used ground screws. Amazing system. No digging holes, no concrete mixing. Had to hire the tool for putting screws in but well quick and no knowledge required just a bit of strength. Those things dont go anywhere.
What’s the difference between your rod in system and the screw I’ve seen other competitors using ?
👀 💰
"Whatever you buy is crap!" LOL! I'm guessing you're tried Toolpack products??? OMFG!
The worst of the worst 🫣
🤘😎🤘
Jeez, looks a right bodge that foundation structure. Is that even treated timber?
Are you hearing impaired or visually impaired?
Hi where we can shop or any recommend by you so we can buy those m24 rod or rest things
Bapps Bolts matev
More haste, less speed.
You didn't put a link in the description!
because we balked up the audio, it'll be in tonight mate
"Astroturf on the roof" is somewhat missing the point of a green roof...
can't put a green roof on a permitted development at 2.5, its not my 1st rodeo mate
Timber doesn't look treated at all... 🤷🏻♂
