Thanks for the memories, Heather! Footage like this began my journey into a life-long passion for pro cycling and ultimately working as a professional race mechanic. Great to see the older technology as play as well.
    Cheers, Pjw

John Tesh and CBS was great! The editing was well done. Carefully bringing a very unfamiliar sport to American viewers. I was very new to the Tour in 83-84 so this came to CBS at the most perfect time. The beautiful thing was that it was also an American in contention. Paris Roubiax also came to American television thanks to CBS, John Tesh and the great Phil Ligget.

John Tesh with his awesome multi talents and and musical attributes did a fantastic job of introducing and popularizing the Tour de France to millions of Americans. What also helped with this entire process was the phenomenal talent and superb cycling skills of Greg LeMond. To this day, Greg LeMond is THE ONLY AMERICAN to have won the TDF and he did it not just once but THREE TIMES ! Also won the World Road Cycling Championship as a Junior and as a pro. Amazing athlete !!
When one looks at the list of cyclists who were caught for doping over the years, one will find the names of many former winners like Jaques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Thevenet, Bjarne Riis, Lance Armstrong, etc. but you won't find Greg LeMond's name in that list as one who EVER tested positive for drugs. That's how special LeMond is.

Wow! Imagine if any sports caster used all of the analogy that Eric Heiden did in today's world...
