Most helpful video I've found, been looking through other videos for days that are longer, yet only include half the detail of all the connections, locations, etc that you did. Had the pleasure of several sensors going out at the same time on my L59 (an upstream o2, rear knock, and cam pos) which caused really advanced timing that junked the cam lobes and made a lifter break into a dozen pieces. Since I'm in a pinch to get the truck running again, this has been extremely helpful. (found a replacement L59 local for $350 to throw at it this weekend)
Pretty nice work considering you did it by yourself. I'm not a mechanic, but I'm gonna attempt this on my 05 Silverado 5.3 with 253k miles. Thank you for the video!
What about the Torque Convertor? Did you need to use a j 21366 Bracket to keep it in place? I see forums talking about that, but I do not see any videos mentioning it. I just need to pull the motor. Not the Trans.
Def shorter chains if you ever do it again, and if possible the lift chain can be moved to allow higher lift. Glad you caught it tho. Pulling mine out these next few days to swap in a newer block that isn’t cracked thanks to the winter storm that blew through Texas. Texarkana area here since I saw you were in the DFW area

It's the Harbor Freight 2.5 ton engine hoist. Yeah if you remove the oil pan that'll save you quite a bit of height. Just remember to drain the transmission, I didn't and ended up with a mess when I pulled it lol. Best of luck and be safe!!
Well, ive done this on a dodge Durango before, by myself, guess its time to start on the 5.3 trailblazer that spun a rod bearing. about to tackle this thing. Im probably gonna need to get that clutch fan tool along with the fuel line disconnect tool. Very informative video, i will sub to your channel, keep the challenges coming 👍
Update, I'm on a different account, but it's turning out good so far. Got the engine ready to pulled. Got a used 5.3 gonna swap over the 706 heads for the 799 then drop er in. I had a bit more of a headache on the trailblazer. The 4x4 front diff bolts to the oil pan so dealing with the front end slowed me down a bit.
Correct, I had to cut the exhaust out because the bolts were rusted on and rounded. The motor mounts were two nuts on the backside of the mounting location.

I think you might be able to leave it on but the chains might get in the way (and possibly damage it). I believe it is possible but you'll probably need the bigger engine hoists to make sure it doesn't try to tip over with all the extra weight of the transmission
You should be able to as long as you get a similar year model and the crank sensors are the same (24 tooth or 58). As far as the pcm I bet it would run it but you might have to flash it 🤷♂️
