      Thank you for watching! We thought we should be honest so as not to misrepresent the experience just for others to feel like it wasn't worth it as well. Of course there are many cruise companies and boats but they all looked fairly similar in their itinerary.

    Thank you for the candidness. We were considering Peony but will opt for Orchid or Genesis.

      Orchid looked nice with a similar style boat. I think it is a worthwhile experience, our take away is mostly that we wouldn't recommend spending top dollar when they all seemed like they would give similar experiences.
      I hope you have a great time and make some memories!

    Check out "Indochina Junk" or "Stella of the Seas", the Westerners I've seen vlog on those seem to like them really well. Whatever you do, choose the 3 day cruises as it will take you away from the crowds, which can ruin the experience if you want a bit more peace and tranquility. Indochina Junk has their own beaches/caves and will offer lunch on the private beach. Just saw a video from "Sunkissed Bucket List" on it but I know I had seen another video where that company provides a great experience. "Shot in the Dark", "Sammy and Tommy", and "1Passports 1Dream" seemed to really enjoy their cruises.

      Ours was a 3 day cruise and I think the 2 day would have been better. There didn't seem to be any extra value in the additional day, nor did it take us away from the crowds. You're probably right that there are better boats, which we touched on in the video, that the more expensive ones that don't move around much aren't worth it!
      Thanks for the comment and advice. We'll likely be looking for a more authentic experience next time we're in Vietnam though!

    Nice video. To bad there is so much garbage around. I do agree about your food. For the price that you pay I would think it would be better than squid 4 times. Also what is the accessory that you used to control your DJI mini 2 ? I have the mini 2SE and I like the way you controlled the drone.

    I was on Mon Cheri, 3D/2N, in November, 2022, $490 single, $770 couple. Disappointing and ridiculously overpriced. Ha Long and Lan Ha Bays are seriously overcrowded. We were followed everywhere by 17 to 18 other ships and, probably due to the heat, everyone does kayaking, beach/village visits at the same time each day. Like rush hour traffic. Also, calling it a "cruise" is a serious misnomer. Boats like the one I was on only move before picking up or dropping off passengers. I'd estimate over the 3D/2N "voyage," we were actually underway for less thatn 30 minutes. By all means, visit the area, but save lots of money and aggrevation and take a day cruise!

    • @TrekList
      @TrekList  Год назад +1

      Yes we had the exact same experience! Ours also only moved when they were picking up more people, they seemed to only care about the new people and the ones already on the boat were old news! It was an interesting time for sure, but you're probably right that a day cruise would be more worthwhile.
      Thanks for commenting with your experience!

    It's unfortunate to see all that garbage in such a majestic area. Some cruises, you don't see them, some you do...I wonder if it's all like that or only certain areas. I know there was mention of how the ocean currents brings in trash from the Philippines and such, so that's a possibility after a storm or whatever, but the locals and tourists tossing trash in the ocean doesn't help.

    • @mrc6182

      Unfortunately, trash is everywhere in Vietnam. Ha Long's no exception.

    Those garbages floating on the water in Ha Long bay are left by some irresponsible and disrespectful tourists.The local authorities seems to be too soft towards them . They should make the offenders pay heavy fines to teach them how to respect the environment .

    • @TrekList
      @TrekList  Год назад

      I think all the boats in the bay contribute to the garbage as well, but there are only so many boats because of the tourists!
      I agree that there are too many disrespectful and environmentally irresponsible tourists all over the world, not just Vietnam. It is hard to see such beautiful areas get destroyed by this neglect.
      We love Vietnam and hope they can do something to protect these beautiful natural wonders!
      Thank you for watching and commenting!

      If I may, Halong/Lan Ha aren't the only parts of Vietnam that are struggling with trash.

    😀 Thank you for the honest video. Although you both appear to be jaded, via tone and low energy. Sad and unfortunate about the collective amount of garbage in the Bay. Mostly like from tourist like yourself. Maybe you both can contact your government. Encouraging them to work in conjunction with the local Vietnam government. To commission a Clean Act. I agree majority of public "cruise" are tightly scheduled. I suggest chartering a private vessel (cruise). Allowing you to create and adhere to your own schedule. My friends and family always chart our own yacht. Allowing us to do what we want. The provisions are by fair better on a private vessel. Horrible you both had to endure the provisions that were provided. The visuals in your video was beautiful!
