Not only your filming is fantastic but also your narration, it gives us all the info we need for those wanting to go there for a visit. I was in several places in Viet Nam but have no intention of ever going back! Just seeing the people and hearing the language, I would have nightmares again, now you know how old I really am! 😑 I did love several other far east countries, so I will just be so satisfied watching y'all traveling, always looking forward to the next ones!

Thank you so much Eddy!! As you DEFINITELY know, we've not done many videos like this. But we felt like we really needed to be as clear as possible on what all went into the booking process. It's such an amazing place to visit, but there are things to know before going for sure! I can understand your hesitation for going back though 100%. Hopefully our next couple of videos will show a side of Vietnam that gives a bit more insight into how far the country's come. It's no doubt had a tough history, but there's always beauty to find ya know. We're so thankful for you, & can't wait to keep sharing these adventures with you. All the best Eddy!!!❤️

After going on the same cruise but with another company I fully agree with everything but one thing (later).
The price were around the same but the location for the activities were a little different. We went to the cave that you couldn't go through but the other activity with the bikes we went to another village to try snake wine.. so the boats might be different on those parts and you should take that in mind.. we never went to the hiking through the stairs and cave for an example.
Cons were indeed that some areas have a lot of plastic waste in the water. This being said some locations didn't and this is in my mind season-based and location-based.
We stayed at the 2nd floor so there were no problem with the privacy from the boats but I agree that this could be a problem if you stay on the 1st.
Another con for us were that the food on our cruise were a little too "western" in taste.. the lack of salt from fish sauce and spices were downplayed from what you get in the main land -and I understand that this is to not scare away the tourists.. but I would have liked them to play up the food a little and then have options for the people who couldn't handle the spice just as same as they have vegetarian options for people who don't want meat.
Last con: it went by so fast! 3 days and 2 nights felt like nothing and it made you feel that you just wanted to hide somewhere and then mingle in with the new guests in order to stay for another round....
But in full... 10/10 would recommend. It's a bucket-list for sure.

    • @ProbablyLost
      @ProbablyLost  Год назад +1

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!!! It’s truly a bucket list item and well worth the trip from Hanoi. I certainly see your point about the food being a bit western. We went into Hanoi after our cruise and got a much more authentic Vietnamese experience, which then kinda highlighted more that the food on the ship was certainly not as Vietnamese as the street food in Hanoi was😅 All in all though, these cruises are so worth it. Thanks so much again and thank you for taking the time to watch our video!!!

Also what type of drone do you have/how long have you had it?

    • @ProbablyLost

Thanks for watching! My recommendation would be to confirm with your cruise what the itinerary looks like and go from there! In hind sight, we would have rather had a relaxing morning in to enjoy the last few hours on the bay than the early wake up call to go to the cave (in our Ha Long Bay video). Our understanding is that each cruise offers different activities, so I don't want to tell you not to do them in case your cruise offers something different than ours! I hope that helps and enjoy your trip!!

I did a 3D/2N in October/November of '22. Also booked through Halong Bay Tours as they have good prices and are nice, knowledgeable people!
I didn't stay in a "near-sea-level" cabin and total price, USD, came to $490 single, $770 couple including roundtrip transportation from Old District of Hanoi.
Cruise? I was underwhelmed. Everywhere we went we were accompanied by 17 or 18 other similarly-sized vessels. As you mentioned, everything happens early in the day and I imagine that's because afternoons are oppressively hot. Anyway, with 17-18 other boat passengers doing kayaking, village, beach visits at the same time, it was about as relaxing as rush hour on a Los Angeles freeway. Skipped Day 2 activities. Another complaint. Calling the cruise a "cruise" was a misnomer, in our case, anyway. We were only "cruising" to places to let off or take on passengers. I estimate over the entire three day period we were actually underway less than 30 minutes! Of course, with "no breeze over the bow," one winds up confined to air-conditioned spaces.
And, yes, trash - which is now typical of EVERYWHERE in Vietnam, unfortunately!
Everyone should see Halong Bay, but take a day cruise. The place is "over-touristed" and "trap-py!" Never again.

Hi! I’m booking a Ha Long cruise for this July and really appreciated the information! This was awesome. Do you have a recommendation for how far out to book the cruise? July weather can be very unpredictable in the area, so I don’t want to book too far out and get terrible weather - I also don’t want the cruise to get sold out (I actually finally chose Peony cruises and looked it up on RUclips and found your video).
Side note: I was going to book a room on the first floor - thanks for the advice to try for second floor 😂

Hey Carson!! I'm so happy to hear that this video helped you! As far as booking in July, I really don't think you'll have a whole lot of issue with it getting sold out. Our boat was about 85% for the entire stay & I know Peony's sister cruise lines (Orchid & Moncherie) were experiencing the same. I'd be very surprised if it was even close to sold out.
As far as booking in July, even if the weather isn't PERFECT you'll still have some incredible views. The views from the boat alone are well worth the price (also, the food is insanely good lol). We booked our cruise about 2 or 3 weeks in advance & had no problems. You shouldn't have any issues at all. Also in order to get the second floor, make sure that when you're booking you specify that multiple times. Trust me, you don't want to be on the first 🤣 Hopefully this is a bit helpful for you & hank you so much for watching our video!!!

Two Questions.... What was the exact name of the boat you went on ? As these ships are small, are you still able to keep to yourself .... I dont particularly want to sit around a drink or socialize with others.....

That sounds like a HUGE win for you!!! I'm not totally sure why ours was high, but honestly we felt like it was a good deal so I definitely don't blame you at all for snatching that deal up. Thanks so much for watching our video!!

700 USD for 3 days, which are actually two full days is ridiculous amount of money for pros like "Bobby" and "Hot tub" It is hard pass for me, not worth it and an obvious tourist trap. I don't need all those forced "activities", sleeping on a motorboat where the gasoline is the only smell you get among five hundreds other boats and thousands of tourists. 700 USD, come on please!

How do you mispronounce peony? Like the flower pee-oh-knee, not pee-onee
