On round 58 the ending stitch count is entered wrong... round 57 says 48 and round 58 says 54... if we're decreasing... It shouldn't go up.

Yes, you are right. It is a miss print - should be 42.

Hi Mardi! The smaller version is crocheted from the thinner yarn. You will make even more smaller one if you will use mercerized cotton for example.
