It's funny how calm and polite the officer is being during the whole pursuit.
It's not a pursuit. He hasn't signalled for him to stop. It's not likely to be deemed a "pre-planned pursuit" either yet as there is no real belief by the officer that the vehicle is likely to fail to stop, like it would if it was "stolen" or the male inside was known to be wanted.
This is called a "follow" in police terms. You are behind a vehicle which you have an interest in, you have not indicated for the vehicle to stop yet, and typically they are unaware of your presence.
Funny how the police can go as fast as they like ? I want equal rights
I like the way speeding offenses are handled over there. As an American It seemed so strange seeing the situation handled in that manner.
I am a retired road patrol officer from Scotland. It is not that we are chilled nor do we have a death wish. It is down to superior driver training over a long period of time and the apparent chilled out mien is in fact total concentration on the pursuit in hand.

@@BrevityBuzz it definitely already is illegal
Definitely agree some roads at certain times should allow for faster travel. The main point as that driving should be done safely at any speed and drivers should be taught at a higher level to begin with and how to exercise discipline and judgement. The penalties for failing to do so could then be justifiably higher.
Crashes on the autobahn are never small, that’s the problem. Yes there are fewer crashes, but they’re so much worse when they happen. It’s not all sunshine & rainbows like a lot of people think.

150mph and the copper is driving one handed whilst using radio, despite having hands free radio in the car. It’s a joke to argue it’s ok because he’s trained.
Usually the Mainset in the car will be pan-division and his personal radio will be on a local channel. Hence, rightly or wrongly he’s using his PR to ask local officers for help on the hurry up. If he has to jump out in a hurry or a foot chase ensues the pan-division channel would probably be useless because the closest units will most likely be on the local channel.
In my experience police vehicles never had two radio sets. The mainset was only ever a pan-divisional set and you had to use your PR if you wanted help quickly.
Incidentally there is a legal exemption for using a two way radio whilst driving.

@@hogwild5844 can you rewrite that !
@@SCHRANZ3040 rewrite it? Why? I think its fairly clear. The And? Was to imply so what and the rest was self explanatory of my view of motorway speed limits.
@@hogwild5844 do you mean they are too fast?
Just to make a quick point. If he is doing the same speed as the guy he is chasing without any emergency signals at all, is he not endangering the public just as much as the bloke he's chasing? What if some motorist doesn't see him coming and pulls out in front?
They use the blue lights on the back of the car
We have the benefit of intense and significant driver training to do that. We are looking at what others are doing, what they may potentially do, and driving accordingly. The person in front does none of this. The key to safe driving at speed is observing what others MIGHT do, and driving in anticipation of that worst case scenario. Any idiot can drive fast, but to do so safely takes a lot of skill, training, refresher training and experience.
No.
Firstly the use of blue lights and a siren sometimes causes reactions from other drivers you DON'T want. I've had people pull into oncoming traffic to get out of the way of the car i'm in on a blue light run, and someone who slammed on the brakes when she saw us behind on a blue light run. Hardly desired reactions, but something you have to be prepared for.
Secondly they are taught very well, this guy is likely an advanced driver so essentially the "best of the best" in terms of training, there is no "higher" driver training course than an advanced driving course. They are taught to plan and prepare so far ahead that they rarely have to brake, typically they'll just let off the accelerator, slow for the hazard, and floor it again. Most of the braking is done for sharp right angle corners, try doing a 90 degree left/right turn at 80-90mph and you'll end up in a tree/hedge/lampost etc.
They speed anyway. I was doing 20 in a 20 recently and the safety camera van (of all things) in front of me was pulling away from me and eventually disappeared whilst the rest of us did 20 in a 20. Van must have been doing 35-40 in a 20. One rule for thee...

that is really quite harsh for blocking the fast lane. yeah its annoying when those slow drivers sit in the fast lane with 110....but thats really harsh. in germany you get only a fine of 80€ if you block the last lane by driving that slow.
Jeez that’s a light punishment, in Australia you’d have had your car impounded, lost your license for years, and $1000’s in fines

@Lisa Kehrmann The difference is that people there know and expect that others can drive quite fast.

Very true.
"the world fell out of his backside" 😂🤣
The driver got only got a warning from the Magistrates with no fine no points, a new pair of trainers and a three weeks all paid holiday on a Greek island, and a written apology from the police for stopping them.
This is how bad the UK legal courts system is.
So… “naaa I cant stop him now, its difficult for him to stop.. “ so much better just let him rave on… thats much safer.. And while doing 150 mph the cop has one hand on the steering wheel because he needs to hold a button on his walki.. its all very comforting.
This just shows you how absurd the 70mph limit is. Virtually all cars are still very composed at those speeds, and any half competent driver can easily pilot one without it being the most heinous crime against humanity.
It’s pointless having fast cars these days. Most motorway can’t go over 50/60 due to perpetual roadworks and 20mph in London. Better off with Honda jazz and get 72mpg

@@rc8james221 I love cars. I had 2 mercs and they are not worth it. They are money pits.

Can we just appreciate it wasn’t an m3 or an m4 I can’t read the badge but either a 330d or a 335d he was probably driving like that because he just got it re-mapped and the speed limiter taken off and now it’s a flying machine!
I think it's completely stock. I find it funny they call it a 'high powered BMW'. Built for cruising autobahns, a stock 330d can sit there all day long. The police car is doing it with a boot full of kit and they're completely stock with the exception of a calibrated speedometer, regardless of what programmes like this want you to believe. They're matched at 155-160 mph and the police needed a run up, that's the only reason they couldn't gain until they reached traffic.
If this was filmed during the lockdown(s) then they're probably just making the most of not sitting in bumper to bumper traffic.
It was xDrive too. Pretty rare car
It looked like 335d X-drive. With a DFP delete 350bhp is easily achievable with just a map
@@arcadeuk With the torque it doesn't need a remap to do 160 mph. Once they reached 160 there's nothing the officer could do to catch up as they're equally limited. The police car is a stock 330d loaded with kit in the boot and it's cruising happily at 160 mph.
My E46 M3 did 170 with cats removed. Still thought it wasn't fast enough.
