I’m Mexican American and my parents raised me with Mexican customs. I was laughing at the cultural differences you mentioned because they are soooo true!!! Love to see you guys so happy together. Best of luck!!
I was touched at how she explained the “stages” of expressing love and moving from dating to boyfriend-girlfriend. There was a sweetness about it and it just seems so right.
Mike Wood: You are falling into the Lie TRAP. She is romanticizing Our Latino Culture. The Latino Culture well, I am LATINA; and is Not what She Says. Latino Men don't DO everything She Says. They are Not formal like that when dating; and they would easily Go inside her pants without Asking for permission; without Spending $ Mexican Peso on her!!! In the USA, it's called Rape; but in our Latina Culture; it's expected from Our "men" and WHY do you think there are SO MANY SINGLE MOTHERS in LATIN AMERICA?? Think FOR A MOMENT. Just look at how OUR CULTURE behaves; and then you'll know the REAL TRUTH.
My wife and I thought May was so shy at first, but holy cow - she's really opened up! Such a pleasure to see how comfortable she's gotten making these videos : )
Next step..cover body with tattoos. Just like the woman before her. She is watching tips on being a "you tuber"..all of the waving hands, the big expressions with hands and mouth. Watch her hands..just like they tell nervous people to do in a RUclips video.😂🤮
She is caking on the makeup 💄 too and posing on Instagram like she is a model now. She needs to come back down to earth 🌎 soon or Jordan is going to have his hands full of a big time diva!!!! Plus, he will lose subscribers. She definitely isn’t like the person he introduced in the beginning, unfortunately.
This is my favorite video so far. So authentic, funny and heartwarming at the same time. It’s great to hear about these cultural differences and watch the two of you laugh about these discoveries.
This was by far the cutest and most endearing video from the entire Tangerine Travels channel. I salute you both Jordan and May for being so candid and open about the nuances of being in a cross cultural relationship and despite all the differences, that love wins! It’s content like this that makes RUclips worthwhile! Thank you both!

My husband is Mexican and we have had some of these same cultural differences… a good compromise with the shoes in the house is to have a pair of house shoes or sandals that are only worn in the house 💕
For us, things depend on where we live. When we lived in Mexico we ate the main meal at 2pm and wore huaraches in the apartment. Here in the US we don't wear shoes in the apartment and eat dinner at 6pm. I just found out his true opinion of lemons though! lol

I am glad May and Jordan have found joy and happiness together in Mexico. I am Mexican American having lived near Los Angeles for 55 years. Grew up listening to the Beatles and Elvis. Drifted away from my Mexican roots over the years and was raised speaking English. Met a real Latina who became my wife 20 years ago. Became reacquainted with my Mexican roots. Many vacations throughout Mexico home of my parents and grandparents. Enjoyed Mexico’s culture, food and music. Enjoyed listening to Pedro Infante, Joan Sebastian and Senora Dimanita. My wife changed my life from normal to amazing. Hoy hablamos espanol, bailamos cumbias y comer caldos de 7 mares. Como Mexico no ay dos.
This was such a cute and funny video, I really enjoyed it and saw it twice. I am Mexican by birth and grew up in the US and seeing the culture shocks in you guys have made me realize how both cultures are a part of me now.
Wow! With this video you got me hooked again. This is your best ever. It really shows how much you guys like each other and May’s great personality comes out. She is so adorable and I can see that love in your eyes for her which is so inspiring. I will share this with some couples I know that are gringo and Mexican or Venezuelan to see if they can relate. Thanks again - this vid made me smile so much!
Love this video. Working through cultural differences with LOVE is awesome to see. I had to do it myself....been married almost 30 years. I wish you both the best!!
May reminded me of when I used to work at an insurance co many moons ago and our Hispanic clients would bring their whole family of 10 just to make a monthly payment. I mean.., that's where the census bearou needed to be!😆
May is so natural on screen. She’s wonderful for Tangerine Dream! aaahhh..and of course wonderful for your life, Jordan! Enjoy every moment..life goes fast. Oh and everything DOES taste better with butter.
You guys are so funny, I loved this video! 🤣 Hearing the differences in the two cultures, they sound like small things, but they can make a big impact on the other person.
Lmao....Jordan I can so relate... a girlfriend had to straighten me out as well and point me in the right direction ...especially clothes but eating as well.
My Latina wife introduced me to lemons and limes. We use lemons at home for teas and daily fresh lemon juice. Limes are used in daily dishes and for disinfecting poultry. Lime juice is added to guacamole, salads, tacos, flautas, sopas, fresh fish and cold cerveza. Limes also add additional flavor to most seafoods, especially ceviche. Favorite dessert, lemon meringue.
Jordan & May!!! That was the best video you guys have done together because it really shows everything you both went thru to be together and highlighted the different cultures which is very important! Muchos Gracias!! Wish you both the best and looking forward to the next video! Salud!!
Tacky Midwestern cultures vs Upper Middle class conservative Mexican culture…. Typical! Props to Jordan for immersing into Mexican culture. You finally stopped being a tourist. Still a culture that eats corn and puts lemons on their tacos… not for me. My tacos are lemon free. Great video! Great find, Jordan. Now that’s marriage material.
I enjoy watching and hearing about other international couples talk about their learning experiences when the two cultures collide in a relationship. I married my beautiful wife who is from Mexico City almost three years ago. I love her dearly, and she's the best thing that has ever happened to me in my life. It's definitely a learning experience. I think it helps a lot when both couples can communicate well with each other in at least one language. Unfortunately, when my wife and I got together, she hardly could speak English, and I was still at a low intermediate level in Spanish. So, that made things difficult, trying to understand each other and understand cultural differences on top of that. Luckily, if you have a lot of patience, love, respect, and a desire to understand, that's all you need to have a healthy relationship. I enjoyed the video.
Thanks for this totally enjoyable and humorous video. You guys are so cute together. I remember hearing a funny story about how to get rid of an unwanted guest who doesn't get the hint that they have "overstayed" their welcome. After finishing your meal, make a point of letting your dog "lap the dishes clean" and then clearly let your "unwanted guest" observe you as you put the "freshly cleaned" dishes directly into your cupboards!😱🤣. This is guaranteed to get your "guest" to pack up and leave immediately. If it doesn't work you have got a serious problem. 🤣🤣🤣
Fun video! Jordan, I totally understand wearing shorts all the time. Dress code here in Hawaii: casual...shorts and t-shirt; dressy...shorts and aloha shirt; dressy...aloha shirt and long pants. I haven't had long pants on since 2019!
Very interesting and useful. I live in Ecuador as a foreigner from Canada and I can relate a lot with you guy. I litterally live barefoot and my cats always finish my plates. I learnt a lot about LATAM culture in this video.
I love this video! It's fascinating to learn about the cultural differences. I didn't know about the ' no returns' thing. And that is good to know about lemons and limones. And to use fresh salsa.
I'm from the U.S. but hearing Maya talk about Mexican habits has me thinking..."That makes more sense actually. Why aren't Americans doing this?" Except the shoe thing. I have separate pairs of shoes for outside the house and pairs for inside the house. I also have a pair of shower sandals that I only use when I travel.
LOL Team May on sitting at the table, talking, and enjoying the meal. Older generations used to hang out for a long time telling stories and talking after a meal...even playing cards or something after the meal. So happy May's personality is emerging now! : )
This video rocked! Very enjoyable and funny in a good way. We are getting to know May and Mexican culture better. I did not realize how American I am. LOL. Btw, I also put butter on pancakes, waffles, bread, rolls etc. I love an American breakfast out of scrambled eggs, pancake and bacon all on the same plate. I like to take a bite of sweet and then one of salty. Also love real maple syrup but I have to say I do not like it too much on my egg. Great video. Keep them coming.
I am Mexican but i have been married to a white boy for over 25 years and he still does things that surprise me. His top mistake was when he tried to eat tamales with the husk still on...lol. My white boy loves the culture so much we plan to retire in Mexico. Great video..keep them coming.
My first impression of this video v.s. the original FIRST videos made together-impressions was/is: "Oh no. No. Not that. Not this. Getting a "sinking feeling" here now." 🤐🤔🤨😒 Will see how it all plays out, longer term.
I grew up in California and my family culture was most like May’s except we all left home at 18 and we enjoyed pancakes with butter topped with bacon, eggs and topped with real maple syrup. Our daughter lived at home with us along with her boyfriend until she was 27 after they had finished college and were married. Now that we are older, she is selling her house and buying a house with room for us to live with them. It’s not common here in the US but we are very close and I think after living with us when they were younger, it makes sense for our family. AND WE NEVER LET THE ANIMALS EAT OFF OF OUR DISHES! GROSS.
These videos are above & beyond anything you recorded a couple years ago. I am enjoying both of you so very much! Your’e both respectful of each other when talking.
Hey there Jordan your new lady is making you glow and your looking younger nowand days, looking like Babyface. It's all with good intentions brotha. Keep up the great content. Keep flowing with the greatness. Your girl is keeping you young. 👍🙂
What fun! There are so many small things I have always loved about Mexican culture. Too many people travel or even live in another country and don't make an effort to learn the different ways of doing things. Lots to appreciate.
I loved Tangerine Travels from the beginning, then you broke up and I was conflicted. Then Mai came in, and at first, I was as apprehensive as she was. I understand her reactions and "HER" conflictions. I am Mexican American, and I was in boarding school for 3 years In Mexico City you can speak the language and still not get it. I'm beginning to like you Mai, Con Carinio.... I love the respect and traditions that Mexicans have. It's beautiful. quiero regresar... I'm loving Mai after this video, she was open and more herself.
Really loved this video. First, really interesting to me from a language learning perspective! I knew that one could say either "te quiero" or "te amo" to express love but I never realized that there was a subtle nuance between the two in terms of the type or depth of love. This reminds me of something that I didn't know for quite some time when I began learning Spanish, and that was the difference between using "caer" versus "gustar" when expressing that you like someone or they like you. Also funny... the differences in the time to eat. When I was in Spain for about 6 weeks earlier this year, it didn't take me long to change up my eating habits to be more in line with theirs, because in many places the restaurants and shops are simply closed during siesta time in the afternoon, which can range from between 1:30 or 2:00 pm until 5:00 p.m. so you kinda have to adjust or starve.😊
I agree with Jordan more✨🙌🏻 because I grew up in the US but I'm Mexican and currently living in CDMX🇲🇽. I laughed 😂so hard at the "Sobremesa" part, it is much better to hurry up and eat and have the "SobreMesa" in the living room, instead of the hard chairs at the Dinner table.
This has been my absolute favorite video you have made. Thank you for the laughs. I am currently living in Taxco Guerrero, and I have already experienced some of these cultural differences. Ps, you two have incredible chemistry.
Wow todo lo que dijo May es verdad con todo me sentí muy identificada me alegra mucho ver que may le enseñé a Jordan nuestra cultura y costumbres me encanto este video

I really enjoyed this video.i live in the border which means I'm familiar with both cultures and both of you guys are right on everything. On the boyfriend thing on the te amo on the lunch times etc etc. I really laughed and enjoyed this video...
This was by far most insightful video to ever come out on this channel that I have seen, and I must have seen most of your videos. Bravo, and thanks! I always wondered about the shoes inside the home thing. Living in cold countries like Canada and Russia, you definitely do not want to track mud and snow into anyone's home, taking shoes off is a must. And here we also have the same thing about avoiding freezing your feet (and catching a cold or worse) by changing into house slippers when we get home, and maybe bringing a pair of clean indoor shoes when we visit someone else's home and want to be fancy. I gotta say, though, letting pets eat out of human dishes is a HUGE no-no, and not just in Mexico. And there is a solid medical reason for keeping these things COMPLETELY separate, including the dish rags: there is a number of parasites and pathogens that dogs' and cats' systems can handle fine and are accustomed to, but human system is not.

Your best video yet. May is such a natural.
That was the best video in the entire history of Tangerine Travels! It was interesting, funny and endearing. And you both look happy and healthy!
This video was more funny than I've expect 😂😅
May reminded me of when I used to work at an insurance co many moons ago and our Hispanic clients would bring their whole family of 10 just to make a monthly payment. I mean.., that's where the census bearou needed to be!😆
May is so natural on screen. She’s wonderful for Tangerine Dream! aaahhh..and of course wonderful for your life, Jordan! Enjoy every moment..life goes fast. Oh and everything DOES taste better with butter.
Tangerine Dream is a band XD a very good one btw, but this is Tangerine Travels 😁
Salud!!
May is really getting good at being in front of the camera. She's a great RUclipsr!
That was awesome! I live in Mexico and these perspectives are invaluable
Yeah, I bought a t-shirt in a nice shop in Vallarta and they wouldn't take it back with a receipt.
Favorite video ever!!! May is pretty funny! And the tortillas… lol‼️
LOL Team May on sitting at the table, talking, and enjoying the meal. Older generations used to hang out for a long time telling stories and talking after a meal...even playing cards or something after the meal. So happy May's personality is emerging now! : )
Loving the videos of you both together and so funny!
May went from camera shy to entertainment Queen in record time! I was totally cracking up!! The butter splats 😂🤣🤣 And the tortilla slap game… 😅🤣 Fun!!
Ayyy que linda May! I agree the dog needs its own bowl. 😂
The best video so far! You guys are Sooooo cute together and that tortilla challenge at the end made me laugh so much.
Hilarious! Thanks for sharing Jordan and May. Really interesting to learn about some of these cultural differences.
Loved the video. And I can feel that love is in the air in your relationship.
I am Mexican but i have been married to a white boy for over 25 years and he still does things that surprise me. His top mistake was when he tried to eat tamales with the husk still on...lol. My white boy loves the culture so much we plan to retire in Mexico. Great video..keep them coming.
😆😆😆
Hahaha, I thought everyone knew to take the husks of tamales! But then again, I grew up in Texas.
\\\\
You should've let him eat a bit of the oja 😂🎉
I'm Mexican and have never used sandals in the shower in my life. Weird. Public showers yes, at home no.
Yo he usado sandalias para bañarme toda mi vida, tengo 55.
My first impression of this video v.s. the original FIRST videos made together-impressions was/is:
"Oh no. No. Not that. Not this. Getting a "sinking feeling" here now." 🤐🤔🤨😒
Will see how it all plays out, longer term.
*** Oh yea, Atun = Tuna, Limes = limones, Lemons = limas... I like you better Jordan because of Mai. Buena Mujer
May def grows on you..imo ❤️
Having lived in Mexico for 15 years i find all these conversations entertaining as I've been through all of this.
Quite a telenovela
Three years in boarding school in CDMX ? Benemérito ?
After 9 months in Mexico….. I am finally on Mexican meal time! It’s funny. It took me a while to understand. Love you two together 💕
Most countries have totally different meal times that what is standard in the USA I learned that many many years ago
5-6 maybe 7 is fine 8 and up is way to late 😂
This is the funniest video I think I've every seen. I've laughed so hard Bro, I'm right there.
This was so funny, I really enjoyed it! Please keep going!
Dude upgraded big time , Right on man !
I just loved this video, I laughed so hard! I'm a big fan. Keep it up! I'm so glad you can laugh at the cultural differences.
I love how May is looking much more comfortable with the camera. Almost like Jordan chose her because she had talent to be on camera. (J/k).
Lmaoo, Laska and the kitchen plates part was hilarious! Please listen to your girl, get Laska her doggy bowls!!!
I really enjoyed this video.i live in the border which means I'm familiar with both cultures and both of you guys are right on everything. On the boyfriend thing on the te amo on the lunch times etc etc. I really laughed and enjoyed this video...
Jordan your giant and ever-present smile and laughter throughout this video was a nice change. Great to see you happy and in love with each other.
Loving the chemistry you guys have 🌝☘️
Absolutely the best video! I'm dying laughing. 🤣 Love love love
agreed... dogs do Not eat off my dishes !
Hi May, give him some slack, he's not Mexican. In America they use mostly lemons 🍋 in Mexico we use limones!😆
Yes i was an adult before i realized why i got limes at the mexi mart when i specifically asked for limones!! Lol
Now i know Bajaja
